Feb 6: Academic Planning & College Readiness Workshop RSVP due Feb 10: Registration deadline for March 11 SAT Feb 10: ARC Camps deadline to apply Feb 11: ACT Feb 17: Junior Leadership Applications due Feb 27: Junior Leadership Workshop RSVP due (more info to come) SCORE observations are getting organized! Some students will be completing their observations during Spring Break! Keep an eye on your email for all details!

UB Juniors: If you are interested in getting some leadership experience and gaining some very important skills to add to those college and scholarship applications, it's time to apply for the Upward Bound Junior Leadership Program!

Junior Leadership is a program offered during Junior year that will give our students more opportunities to be leaders within Upward Bound, our schools, and our communities. Students who are interested in participating in the Junior Leadership Program must complete this application and meet the following criteria: 3.0 GPA or higher 50% or higher participation in UB meetings & events Be working toward an Advanced Studies Diploma Once accepted into the program, students will submit a leadership Project Proposal. Your proposal should include the following items: Project idea Timeline Proposed outcome Completion date Estimated number of helpers needed If this sounds overwhelming, don't worry! We will have a workshop in early March to help you with this. We also have some ideas to get you started!

STUDENTS IN THE SPOTLIGHT Congratulations to McKenzie Wise (PHHS) who is currently serving as the 4-H Southwest District Ambassador. With this leadership role, she recently traveled to Richmond to take a tour of the Capital and Farm Bureau. She was also able to meet with Delegate O'Quinn, and learned about his job at the Capital!

Congratulations to Shay Cannon (VHS) who earned 1st Chair Senior Symphonic All-District Band, which qualifies her for an All-State audition! Shay plays the french horn and will be participating in the AllDistrict Concert at the Higher Education Center on February 4.

Shay also plays soccer and earned 2nd Team AllDistrict last season!

Congratulations to Trystan Widener and Haydin Nesbitt! They were chosen as December students of the month at HHS! We are proud of you!!
