This article will fully explain the certifications we found to be in demand by employers looking for cyber security professionals. 1 The first certification anyone needs in the cyber security field is the CompTIA A+. This certification states the holder has the skills to repair and maintain a work station. You might ask why the A+ is so important. Remember cyber criminals often will break or destroy a network in the process of attacking it. The ability to fix a broken work station or individual computer is a key element for your success. 2 The next certification, which will aid to your portfolio of cyber skills is the CompTIA Network +. This certificate states you have the qualifications to handle a corporate server, which is the large computer that distributes programs to individual workstations within your organization. The server is usually a key point of attack. The ability to fix it is important for your success in this field. The Next certification, which also comes from CompTIA. It’s known as the CompTIA Security +. The security + let’s employers know that you know how to protect their network against cyber-attacks. 4 As you move up the ladder in the cyber security field, your next stop will be the Cisco CCNA or Cisco Certified Network Associate. This certificate states you have the skills to install and configure Cisco routers, which serves as a company’s gateway to the Internet. Hackers love to attack routers. 5 Now you are ready to advance to the next level. The certified Ethical Hacker. This certificate tells employers you know the latest methods hackers will use and the fact you can defend their organization against them. 6 Finally you end this program with a Linux fundamentals certification by CompTIA known as the Linux +. This certificate informs employers you are familiar with Linux, which is an open-source operating system. Many companies use Linux on their backend because the operating system is very difficult to hack.
