Laboratory techniques are an essential skill for the qualified veterinary nurse, as many cases presented in small animal practice will need laboratory tests before a definitive diagnosis can be made. The main areas of sample collection methods, haematology, biochemistry, urinalysis, and testing for endocrine diseases will be covered in detail with an emphasis on a practical approach.

Numerous case examples will be included so that you can relate the skills learned back to real life in practice.

This programme is designed to expand the emergency and critical care nursing knowledge and skills, improving your confidence in this area and appropriate for general practice and referral nurses. Echocardiography

This course aims to provide you with the knowledge to achieve standard echocardiographic views in dogs including right and left side views and M mode. The common artefacts which may be confused with cardiac pathology will be covered and an overview of the changes seen in common acquired and congenital cardiac disease in the dog and cat will be illustrated. The theory of Doppler will be introduced and its application in acquired and congenital disease. Normal Doppler findings will be discussed. Changes associated with hypertension, anaemia, hyperthyroidism and other systemic disease that can cause echocardiographic changes will be covered.

This practical courses will teach you how to perform Rhinoscopy, Otoendoscopy Uretrocyctoscopy and vaginoscopy. The basic technique for efficient rhinoscopic examination of the nasopharynx, nose and para-nasal sinuses will be discussed in detail along with biopsy techniques and common nasal pathology including neoplasia. Laser debulking of nasal masses will be discussed and diagnosis and treatment of nasal aspergillosis using aminimally invasive technique will also be covered.

Feline Dentistry
