Veterans Community Project (VCP) is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in Kansas City, MO by a group of combat Veterans frustrated by the rampant homelessness within the Veteran population. From providing innovative, transitional housing to walk-in support services, VCP assists any Veteran who took the oath to protect our country, regardless of discharge status or type of service. An astounding 85% of Veterans in VCP Village successfully transition to sustainable, long-term housing of their own. Hundreds more have mitigated the threat of homelessness by utilizing VCP case management and emergency assistance funds through the VCP Outreach Center. Using the success of Kansas City as a blueprint, Veterans Community Project (VCP) has the long-term goal of preventing and ending Veteran homelessness across the nation.

10%

According to the 2023 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Annual Homelessness Assessment Report, over 10% of Milwaukee’s homeless population are Veterans.

VCP of Milwaukee Campus Located on a 7-acre property in Milwaukee’s northwest side, Veterans Community Project is a specialized village of 40 tiny homes with on-site, wraparound support services designed to equip Veterans experiencing homelessness with the tools needed to return to a stable, prosperous, independent life. This new campus will not only provide critical resources but will also: • Beautify and increase the property values of the surrounding area • Strengthen Milwaukee’s social services sector

• Become a source of civic pride • Provide ongoing opportunities for community volunteerism

VCP Village The tiny homes are built on concrete foundations, connect to city utilities, and meet all code requirements for new construction. Each furnished home features a full kitchen, bathroom, and living space. Single occupancy homes are 240 square feet; the Village’s 8 family homes are 320 square feet and accommodate a family of five. Every detail of the tiny home is designed with Veterans’ needs in mind, including placement of doors and windows to increase a sense of security for those impacted by post-traumatic stress disorder.

VCP Village Center Serving as a “basecamp” for residents, the Village Center is a hub for VCP’s continuum of care and a place for residents to connect and build strong networks of support. With various private offices for case management, classroom spaces, and a fellowship hall for social events, the Village Center promotes the physical and mental well-being of Village residents and enhances their sense of community.

"The tiny houses provide shelter but the Village Center is where the real, life-changing work happens.” Bryan Meyer, CEO and Co-Founder Veterans Community Project
