Fourth Wall Productions present The Field at Thomastown

“We’ll give him just enough to teach him a lesson.” us says the Bull McCabe (Joe Murphy), evocative of recent horri c events in the Monaghan-Fermanagh border area, as an outsider William Dee (John Kavanagh) attempts to establish a business by buying and concreting a eld, owned by the poor widow Maggie Butler (Geraldine Moore). Bull and his son Tadhg (Paul Kenna) believe they are entitled to the eld having rented and nurtured it for ve years. e villagers of Carraigthomond become complicit in events, with the go-between Bird O’Donnell (Kevin Lalor-Fitzpatrick) and auctioneer Mick Flanagan (Eamon Delaney) acting as major conspirators, and Bull’s relatives Dandy McCabe (Vincent Hogan) and Mrs McCabe (Catherine Scully) providing alibis. e Bishop (Colman Young) threatens cessation of Mass and refusal of the last sacraments to the parishioners over their silence. Maimie Flanagan (Jane Doheny) sympathises with the plight of Mr. Dee but won’t crack under the interrogation of Sergeant Leahy (Bernard O’Reilly) and Father Murphy (Michael Brennan). It is left to young Leah Flanagan (Shona McDonald), the conscience of the village, to break silence…….But will she? e Field is John B.
Keane’s erce and tender study of the love a man can have for land and the ruthless lengths he will go to in order to obtain the object of his desire. It is dominated by Bull McCabe, one of the most famous characters in Irish writing today. An Oscarnominated adaptation of e Field proved highly successful and popular worldwide, and starred Richard Harris, Sean Bean, John Hurt, Brenda Fricker and Tom Berenger.
Directed by David Corri, stage-managed by Noel Ryan, with a set designed and built by Keith Mason and Lar Scully and dressed by Catherine Scully, this production will keep you in your seats.

IN a world that is becoming more digital day by day it is important that our youth are kept up to speed with the new technologies that will be part of their everyday life. As we now see the e orts to get everyone to have a better work life balance by the time, they become members of the workforce we will be ‘working from home’ not just locally but across the world. e Irish Government have now introduced a law for remote working which will be the work life model in the years to come. erefore, now is the time to get your education under way.
Twilight Community Group are never shy when it comes to getting new initives started. ey recently set up their STUDIO TEN, which allows for all communities to get their news out to their communities. is opened a new department and adventure to the Charity’s programme of ‘Communities Are Stronger Together’
AS we all know Covid 19 had a serious adverse e ect on all sectors of society. Our youth are no di erent to any other age group. With this in mind the Twilight Youth Inclusion Group was formed. e group is for all ages from 12 to 17 and this dovetails nicely with their Erasmus + programme for 18 to 30-year-old. Coincidently Twilight have 5 students heading to Lithuania to discuss the bene ts of the Erasmus + for our young adults. is is all part of the services the Twilight Community Group o er our Young adults. e Twilight Youth Inclusion is for all nationalities to be part of this unique City Youth group. It has programmes for personal development in its schedule for 2022. e group have their own committee, and they are a orded a fund that they must now budget their proposed activities around. ey had day trips to Waterford activity Centre, K Bowl and many more are planned.
As we said at the start IT is now the future. With this in mind it was decided that TYI members would get a master class in podcasting. at is how to operate a camera, how to edit, and get a youth podcast for broadcasting on the Twilight European Network (TEN) you tube channel Twilight Studio TEN. TYI is a group for inclusion. e Bank of Ireland will be holding budgeting classes for the Members. Twilight’s Professional Life coaches will talk to the members as part of the ‘Over coming Covid’ & ‘Overcoming isolation’ Part of this programme addresses the inherent dangers of social media. In conjunction with the youth members of the TYI the Twilight Seven steps of Social media were developed and will be presented as part of this Community foundation of Ireland funded Programme.

Clay Rooms official opening
CLAY ROOMS Kilkenny will be officially opened by Malcolm Noonan TD on Saturday April 30th at 2.00pm.
Clay Rooms Kilkenny is a new ceramics teaching studio right in the heart of Kilkenny city in Colliers Lane Kilkenny.
Aisling McElwain, Liselott Olofsson and Niamh Synnott opened the doors of Clay Rooms Kilkenny in January 2022.
They want to share their passion of ceramics with the community of makers, from curious beginners to the more experienced practitioner by offering classes in both throwing on the potters wheel and hand building.
At Clay Rooms Kilkenny day and evening classes are offered with opportunities to try out a wheel in our taster sessions or make a mug in a one off hand building workshop to longer more intense 6 week courses.
