Continuation of the interview of Brad Huddleston, expert in the field of digital addiction.

Part 1 was featured in our February issue.

W

e continue our discussion with digital addiction expert Brad Huddleston. We were talking about children taking classes online now because of COVID and the negative impact this is having.

I want to know what the ramifications are socially.

What are going to be the consequences of this lack of socialization? Rhett, what is the one thing that a prisoner fears the absolute most outside of the electric chair?

Being in that dark room where they send you with nobody, right? Isolation. Solitary confinement. They hate that the worst.

So when it comes to digital versus analog – and what do I mean by analog? If you and I were to sit down and have a cup of coffee, the brain and the emotions respond chemically very differently face-to-face than they do online. People, ironically, who spend the most time, for example, on Facebook report being the most lonely, and it’s simply because of the endorphin effect and all these chemicals.

When you see someone eye-to-eye and are in the same room, the brain responds one way, but it’s not the same when you’re typing with someone across the world. No matter how many friends are on your list, you are not responding the same way, your brain is not responding the same way. You end up lonely and isolated because you’re not receiving what I believe is God’s design. Whether you believe in God or not, we know neurobiologically you respond differently. One gives you feelings of satisfaction with endorphins, and the other is much lower, so you’re not going to have that satisfaction feeling and you end up remaining lonely, although you’ve been chatting with possibly 20 people in a day’s time on social media.

There’s two things going on here, too. Children are not going to school, but you know what else is not happening? I remember when I was a kid riding in the car with my grandmother and she tapped me on the leg just to be nice and I thought, “This lady is weird.” Well, I

realized later on in life that was because Interview by there was no hugging in my household growing up; I was never touched, I was never held.

Right now we’re going through this where people are not hugging because of the COVID-19, they’re not touching.

Rhett Palmer What’s going to be that effect on people?

Well, you know, when the most basic of needs are not met, like touching, as you’re saying, appropriate touching, there is a void there and you end up depressed. There is such a thing called Facebook depression. It’s a very real thing. So they’re talking to all these people, but you’re lacking the touch, you’re lacking the faceto-face.

Then the other thing that I would say that is really disturbing: have you ever been sitting across from someone having a cup of coffee or a conversation, and their phone goes off, and like Quick Draw McGraw they grab that phone, no matter what stage of an emotional conversation you’re having? You could be unloading some of the deepest things and starting to feel relief because you think you have a friend who’s giving you an ear, and all of a sudden they’re looking at their phone. They look up at you and go, “Uh-huh, I’m listening,” but they’re looking down.

Well, we know from research that the brain does not switch that quickly. In other words, once their eyes get locked on that screen, their undivided attention is being given – even if they look up at you – their undivided attention is still being given to what’s on that screen. And then once that call or that interruption is over, their eyes will re-engage with you, but the brain cannot switch that quickly.

So depending on how emotional that interruption was to them, it’s going to take time before their entire thoughts and their attention is given back to what you are saying. And intuitively, when we’re doing that to someone – in other words, if I’m the one on the phone, I’m making excuses, trying to be polite by going, “I’m listening, I’m listening,” but the other CONTINUED ON PAGE 9 April 2021 / ISSUE 123 / Vero’s Voice

person is annoyed because they intuitively know that you’re not really, really listening to them.

And so that has caused problems, even face-toface, by simply bringing the phone or the tablet to the table with you.

Now that is a massive problem that is an epidemic globally. So to come full circle, to answer your question, it’s not a matter of what is it going to do, but what has it already done to relationships. They’re not deep; they’re shallow, and people are not being satisfied.

You and I had a great conversation on the phone yesterday, but it was private, and I felt like I could in return tell you anything, Rhett, because you’re my friend.

es, it does. I don’t know what we’re going to do. Should we have boot camps here like they have in China? Well, here’s the problem with boot camps. Yes, we should, and I’m writing a book about it to help facilitate that.

I get a steady stream of calls from people saying, “Hey, I’ve got a piece of property, we want to have a detox facility, can you help us?”

Here’s what we’re finding from the other places that have it: the detox, as it turns out, is actually the easy part. What they’ll do in South Korea, for example, in China, they’ll just take their kids over to one of these places and lock them away for six weeks and they have them do all non-digital activities, and amazingly they get over it.

The problem is when the parents pick them up. They get in the car and Dad’s on his phone, and they go home, the TV’s still on, the video games are still there. They think that you can detox and then go back to the way things were.

But once an addict, always an addict. Think of it in terms of alcohol.

Thank you. And that satisfaction of being able to talk to a friend uninterrupted and really unload brings healing to our emotions.

But when it’s constantly interrupted, when it’s constantly being distracted, that healing can never take place because it takes a deep constant sustained flow of attention, and what the devices have done, even in a personal oneon-one setting, is a constant interruption of that, Yes, it’s like people go into Alcoholics therefore the annoyance replaces the healing.

Right, and learn how to drink responsibly, but you can’t do that.

Nope. Why is that? For instance, I drank all my life, very little, never really liked it. At 50 years of age some things happened in my life and I started to drink every night and I got addicted to Glenlivet Scotch.

Now, almost eleven years I’ve been sober and free from that, but the point is, I can’t go back because once I go back I’ll want to keep repeating that first sip. Why is that? We can’t we go back to normal? Because you have a tolerance that has built up, sort of like fat cells in the body. You can lose weight, but those fat cells are always there. The cells themselves don’t leave; it’s the gook on the inside that will leave. But if you put gook in the body, those cells are sitting there hungry all the time, and they’ll blow up like a balloon instantly.

h, great. And it’s the same with the brain. So when you have already developed that addiction in there, those neuro-pathways are there. You can starve them, thank God, and God will give you the grace and the power to stay away from it. That, with some good friends and accountability. But the moment you go against that – once an addict, always an addict, and that switch in some people will go off immediately and you fall off the wagon.

And it doesn’t take any time, in other words, for that to happen.

My point is, the exact same thing happens with digital addiction. And no one is immune to it. So what I have done is, I created this animation to help illustrate some of the excuses that people give me. Students in particular will come up and say, “Look, I have to have this technology in order to get a job.” And I will say, “You know what, I agree with you.” Or they will say something like, “I have to have this to do my homework.”

This is radio, so let me create a little bit of theater of the mind. Think of They call it a progressive disease. Once when I was a manager at TGIFriday’s we had the police bring in all their dogs for training in loud situations. I was freaking out because it was ten dogs.

The servers went and put a lump of chocolate down and came and told me all the guests were complaining about the dog pooping in the dining room. I was flipping out until I figured out what they had done.

My friend and I were collecting money for the March of Dimes when she suggested that we stop at this house to ask for a donation. As soon as the lady answered the door, she started screaming at us, “I’ve told you people not to come to my door asking for money! I just want to be left alone!!” Then my friend kept asking her for money which escalated the situation. The woman started screaming and cursing at us, and I just wanted to leave! Turns out the woman was a friend of my friend and they thought this setup would be funny!

Not me, but my son. The fall of his junior year of high school, he asked the administration if he could plant daffodils on campus. They said yes. So, my naughty kid planted them in the shape of his name on the hillside as you approach the school. His name is Dewey, but he ran out of flowers, so it just says “Dew”, which is what everyone calls him.

When I was in college, part of the pledge process for my fraternity was to pull a prank on the frat brothers. I unscrewed the shower heads from their showers and put a lemon-flavored Jolly Rancher inside so that would dissolve and mix with the shower water. That way, whoever took a shower would start to get sticky after they dried off.

Naturally, the solution to this was to take another shower, which didn’t help, obviously. After acting enraged during the pledge process, one of the brothers we hit with this prank actually congratulated us on what he said was one of the best pranks he’d ever seen.

The best prank ever pulled on me was when I was about 14. We were on a family vacation at the Adirondack Mountains in New York. At the time I was terrified of Michael Myers from Halloween.

Well, my mom and sister brought the mask to this vacation and I had no clue. Late at night, in the cabin that we were staying in, I see something odd outside through the window. When my eyes adjusted, I realized what I was looking at. Scariest moment ever, but also the best prank.

It was Christmas Eve. I was probably about six- or sevenyears-old and my parents told me that Santa was going to come to visit me. There was a knock at the door and I ran to greet Santa. I opened the door and standing there was a giant gorilla! I slammed the door and went running to my room as fast as I could. As it turns out, my mother told our neighbor to put on his gorilla suit and knock at the door. It’s funny now. Not so funny then!

I was about 16-years-old and in a production of Little Women at Riverside Children’s Theater. At one point in the play, one of the main characters dies and there’s a funeral scene in which everyone is standing around the coffin and a eulogy is being given.

Ever the prankster that I was, on the closing night performance, I decided to make a recording with my handheld cassette player of a high-pitched voice crying, “Guys?? Really! I’m okay!

I was just sleeping!” followed by thumping and banging, and placed it inside the coffin while offstage. I made sure the volume was loud enough so the actors onstage could hear it but the audience couldn’t. During this very sad and touching funeral scene, everybody got the giggles. They were all trying so hard not to laugh, which just made it worse. When we finally carried the coffin offstage, everyone erupted into laughter. Needless to say, the director was not amused by my antics.

T

his month, rather than focus on one of the many wonderful places to vacation in the USA and abroad, I thought I would focus on helping readers plan the perfect vacation by understanding the value of using a travel professional. Unfortunately, during the pandemic many travelers who planned vacations on their own wound up stuck on hold for hours with customer service, were given misinformation on refunds or travel voucher options, and usually both. Whether it be a cruise, a vacation package or simply a hotel stay, frustrations mounted, and all could have been avoided by having made their booking originally with a travel agent.

It isn’t just because I am in the travel business that I am writing this; it is because there is usually a misconception of what a travel agent does. Most often travel agents work only on commission with no cost to you, or at most will charge a small fee to be refunded once a trip is booked. Top agencies have VIP Agent phone numbers, emails and dedicated representatives from travel suppliers to help when situations need to be escalated or for VIP treatment on a special occasion.

specially during the pandemic, frustrated travelers who used an agent did not have to wait on hold for hours to request a refund from a cancelled booking because their agent did that for them. They didn’t have to wonder what the best options were, because with one call to their agent they were given their options. Finally, when it came time to rebook their vacation, they were able to figure out how to best use their future cruise credit or vacation vouchers in order to get the best deals.

Hindsight is 20/20, but we are finding more people now seek a travel agent to handle everything so they no longer have to spend hours researching the best deals or destinations nor have to wait on hold to finally speak with a customer service agent who knows nothing of their history when something goes awry.

So, now that you are convinced using a travel agent is how you are going to book your next vacation, you need some guidance.

Sure, it’s fun to research travel options, but the following are some questions you should think of before speaking with an agent so you have a good idea to guide them: What made your last vacation great? Was it that the beds were the most comfortable? That you were able to meet new friends? That you were able to be left alone? That you had great sunsets? That you had the best meal of your life, or that shopping was nearby with local artisans? The things that make you happy on a cruise are the same things that will make you happy on a city vacation or an all-inclusive resort. Travel agents are not mind readers, but once they know your likes, they can usually find something perfect to fit the bill.

What are your pet-peeves? Something that annoys you whether at home or your worst vacation won’t go away. Do you hate being near an elevator? Do you hate crowds? Do you hate being on a schedule? Do you hate being late (this may sound strange, but a bad travel agent will send you to Latin America where time isn’t important and a good agent would send you to Japan or Germany where punctuality is part of the culture).

What is your budget? Often when an agent asks a client this question, the answer is vague, but a good agent will pin you down. After all, a good agent is doing a lot of work researching and sometimes can get you a caviar vacation for a peanuts budget, but she needs to know what you can reasonably spend.

Are you flexible on your destination, type of vacation or dates?

Think about this with regards to Question #3. Agencies are given exclusive promotions for certain dates or from certain suppliers that can get you a lot of value for your budget with just a little flexibility on your part.

I trust my article this month was of some help in making your future vacation plans. It was not my usual, but hopefully you can see the value of working with a travel professional who will possibly become a friend and have your best interests at heart for all of your vacation plans moving forward.

In a word: Emotional.

his is a movie that will pull heartstrings.

If you dislike stories that can make you cry, however well-made, do not see this picture. If you have a loved one who has long suffered from severe memory loss, you will either cherish this film for all the value and understanding it conveys, or find it upsetting.

To start, we must acknowledge the superb acting talent of Anthony Hopkins playing the main character whose fictional name is, ironically, Anthony. His performance is not only worthy of an Oscar, it stands out among the most powerful and difficult performance by any Hollywood actor ever.

The story is based in modern-day London and is about an 80-year-old man who is losing touch with reality and is left to be cared for by a middle-aged daughter, Anne, wonderfully played by Olivia Colman. The situation becomes more crucial for them both as time passes and Hopkins’ character is upsetting everyone who comes into the fold, while Anne must seek professional assistance not only for Hopkins, but herself as well.

As we experience the ebb and flow of his memory, Anne copes with great difficulty as she grieves the gradual loss of her father while he still lives and breathes before her. The Father embraces real life from which people are suffering around the world.

While the director, Florian Zeller, gives us various perspectives of each character, he cleverly blends make-believe people with reality and the confusion it brings upon Anthony and Anne, in particular. While some of the characters are true, and some are not, we’re drawn into the distorted mind of Anthony.

My only criticism in watching the movie in the big theater is wishing I had a rewind button somewhere to replay bits and pieces of the dialogue which cannot be recaptured.

Make sure you bring a hanky!

suggestion from a friend got me interested in watching this film. The title alone, although not a fair presumption, would have prevented me from watching this movie. I can now say I thought it was absolutely amazing. A cinematic microcosm of society. For those of you uninterested in topics like 1984 and Animal Farm, watch this film for a hazard course in understanding the human condition.

From start to end you see a small-scale depiction of society from its most basic lower social class level right up to the elite, in perfect order. And we see the evolution of civilization from simple beginnings to science, education, quality, luxury, then hedonism, wastefulness and eventual demise, in exactly that order.

Set in 2031, after a failed climate change experiment killing all life, the entire world is frozen except for those aboard the Snowpiercer. For seventeen years, the world’s survivors are on a train hurtling around the globe creating their own economy and class system. Led by Curtis (Chris Evans), a group of lower-class citizens living in squalor at the back of the train are determined to get to the front of the train and spread the wealth around. Each section of the train holds new surprises for the group who have to battle their way through. A revolution is underway.

All of that can be overlooked, however, if you’re just the average movie-goer who simply wants a good story with a hero, an adventure, and an end-goal. In which case I say the film is a good one, but nothing special in that respect. Certainly there were parts where I thought, “Eh?” until it clicked later that it was all part of the director’s greater cinematic design.

The movie is quite long (a little over 2 hours) and does not hurry itself as most blockbuster thrillers would do.

Instead, it takes its time with careful, well-crafted character development. But it does hold the audience’s attention with excellent acting and artsy photography.

I enjoyed Snowpiercer, and give it 4 Stars - Don’t mess with Mother Nature!

panakopita, a delicious Greek appetizer made of mostly spinach and flaky, crispy phyllo dough is a beloved menu item at all of our family holidays, especially Greek Easter. My mother has fond memories of her YiaYia, or grandmother, patiently making her own phyllo dough from scratch.

I grew up watching my Great Aunt Angeline who modernized the process by using frozen chopped spinach and frozen phyllo dough and hand squeezing small portions of the spinach dry to get every bit of moisture out. Neither of them wrote their recipes down on paper.

My mother and my YiaYia recreated our family’s recipe using fresh spinach. I spent many Saturdays with the two of them cooking from scratch, writing down measurements and methods, and getting scolded for having a heavy hand with the butter and pastry brush. I was always told to “pick up the pace” when assembling the pita or else the phyllo would dry out. Their recipe serves 30 people, which for Greeks means more like 60 because everyone has plenty to take home afterwards. This recipe has been cut down to serve 4-6 people.

PREP TIME: 1 HOUR SERVES 4-6 INGREDIENTS: • 5 ½ cups finely chopped fresh spinach (about two bags) • 2 cups finely chopped green onions (two bunches) • 6-ounce package of feta cheese, crumbled • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh dill • Salt and pepper to taste (feta cheese is already salty) • 2 eggs • 1/2 stick unsalted butter, melted • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of olive oil • 1 package (18 sheets) of phyllo dough pastry sheets DIRECTIONS: • Thaw phyllo dough per package instructions, (It’s important to thaw correctly!) Leave the package in the refrigerator until you’re ready to start assembling.

• Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

• Rinse, spin dry, and finely chop spinach and green onions. In big bowl, combine spinach and green onion, crumble in feta and add the dill. Add salt and pepper to taste. Hand beat eggs in separate bowl until frothy and add to mixture. Mix well and set aside.

• Add the olive oil to the melted butter. Stir with pastry brush and set aside.

• Grease a 15”-x-10” pan with butter/oil mixture using a pastry brush.

• Open the phyllo package and carefully unroll the dough flat. Start by carefully lifting and placing 6 layers of phyllo individually into the dish, brushing each sheet gently and lightly with the butter mixture.

• Gently spread on a thin even layer of the spinach mixture.

• Continue layering and buttering three more individual sheets of phyllo. Repeat another thin even layer of the spinach mixture.

• Repeat the layering and buttering of three more phyllo sheets, and spread on the remaining spinach mixture.

• Top with the remaining six sheets of phyllo, remembering to lightly butter each sheet individually.

• Before baking, carefully cut the pita into square pieces.

• Bake 1 hour or until golden brown.

Notes: We’ve never placed the phyllo sheets on a damp towel like some recipes recommend.

Make sure you work at a steady pace and the phyllo shouldn’t dry out.

Be careful not to drench the sheets with butter.

You should have some butter/oil left over.

It’s helpful to have your work area organized.

S

pring is in the air and also hope that soon quarantining and social distancing will wane. The weather beckons us outside, but for many travel is still fear-inducing.

At some point the world will reopen in some newly-formed version of itself and life will regain a different rhythm than it has had the last year or even years before COVID entered our awareness and lives.

During the past year the world has turned to technology to keep us connected, fed, entertained, taught, and financially viable.

Technology advances have leapt forward more in this last year than were foreseen as few had predicted a pandemic, halting life as we knew it in an instant. At the same time technology was leaping forward to fill the gaps that surfaced from the pandemic: the lack of access to the critical technology and the acceptance that there was a lack came to a head as well.

Remember the pictures of kids outside fast food places trying to find Internet to go to school?

Kids with no computers who couldn’t learn?

On the other side of the spectrum, hackers and other dark web players ramped up and the

world saw the highest increase in ransomware attacks, identity fraud, email and Internet scams than ever before. Why? Because with more of the world working from home, there was even greater opportunity to infiltrate business networks from the outside.

With the increased efforts to steal came greater rewards for the hackers as it became more imperative to pay data ransoms when attacks hit hospitals. It was easier to pay than risk people dying; it was easier to pay than have a factory line or utility shut down; and it was easier for the hackers to infiltrate because in-house protocols for security had not made their way onto home computers and networks fast enough.

With employees distracted by school at home, COVID protocols and even the search for toilet paper, the separation of work computers from home devices merged, often without a plan to secure them. Personal email and work email blurred, as did personal web surfing, giving those with sinister purpose simple ways to get ransomware and software designed to penetrate networks to yield confidential data to the hacker.

Two major attacks have hit the news just in the last few months. As near as anyone can tell, outside parties, possibly foreign governments, have managed to gain access to and search around for months and months inside networks that were previously thought unhackable.

The world has been distracted and computer users have gotten complacent at securing their personal devices. As technology becomes more attached into our lives it is easy to forget the basics of preventing or slowing hackers down. hink of it like COVID or flu prevention. A mask is your firewall software putting a wall between you and malicious activity.

Washing your hands is being careful about which websites you visit or emails you click on and open. Sanitizer and bleach is running routine maintenance and changing to secure passwords on a regular basis, and the vaccine is your anti-virus/malware software.

As your mom always said, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Private Sale of a Vehicle in Florida T

housands of vehicles are sold in Florida every year. There are certain things you should know before selling a vehicle, including the process to transfer the title and more importantly, how to protect yourself so you are no longer liable for the vehicle you sold.

Selling a vehicle in a private sale can be beneficial for both the buyer and seller. Be certain that the process is completed properly by understanding the seller’s rights and responsibilities.

For a sale to be legal in Florida, the seller must transfer the title to the buyer. If the paper title has been lost or misplaced, the seller must apply for a duplicate title before selling the vehicle. To obtain a duplicate title, the seller must complete form HSMV 82101 (Application for Duplicate or Lost in Transit/Reassignment for Motor Vehicle, Mobile Home or Vessel Title Certificate) and submit it with a duplicate title fee to a Tax Collector Office. Expedited services, called a “fast title,” is available in all Indian River County Tax Collector Office locations. A $10 fee will apply in addition to the standard title fees.

As of July 2009, Florida law also requires sellers to file form HSMV 82050 (Notice of Sale and/or Bill of Sale for a Motor Vehicle, Mobile Home, Off-Highway Vehicle or Vessel). Filing this form with a Tax Collector Office will remove the seller’s registration from the vehicle and help the seller

avoid any civil liability for the operation of the motor vehicle after the sale.

The seller must complete the Transfer of Title by Seller section on the front of the title certificate, including the name and address of the buyer, the odometer information, selling price, and the date sold. The buyer must submit the title to a Tax Collector Office to transfer the title into their name. This must be done within 30 calendar days to avoid a late transfer penalty fee.

In a sale, license plates stay with the seller not the vehicle. When motor vehicles are sold, the seller must remove the license plate from the vehicle and may then transfer the plate to a new or replacement vehicle. I Hear You! There is so much noise in this world. We tune in and out, choosing what to hear. Some of us played the beat a little too loud when we were younger, and now the only drums we worry about are our eardrums. “What did you say?”

Have you been blessed with a good listener in your life? This is a person who sits quietly, sometimes nodding or grinning, while maintaining eye contact to let you know they are fully engaged.

This is one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received: the gift of being heard. When someone listens to me, I feel valued. When someone listens

to me, I consider my words more carefully. When someone listens to me, I get the incredible sensation of belonging. When someone listens to me, there is no doubt that I am enough.

Good listening is a tool that will advance any relationship and bring it from mundane to intimate. When seeking God, those that listen to the still, small voice grow in faith. A listening spouse creates a loving home. Friends that deeply contemplate our words become our brothers.

But beware of competitive listening. This can bring division instead of connection. Perhaps the author Stephen Covey explained it best when he said, “Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.”

Listening is an art form. It creates good feelings. Get out there and validate someone by listening intently. It may be just what they need.

E

aster is a time of hope for people all over the world.

It is a reminder that, no matter what hardships we may have been through, what crosses we may have had to carry, what disappointments we may have had to face, all that can change because Jesus rose from the dead and has given us new life.

Jesus overcame death so that we might not despair but live.

On Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, and with Jesus the resurrection of all who believe in Him. We have been raised up from spiritual atrophy and entrapment in a world of evil, prejudice, malice, viciousness and selfishness.

We have been set free of those chains of sin when we accept Jesus who rose from the dead so that we might live with Him. What a reason to rejoice! What a reason for giving thanks to God for such a blessed hope and wonderful new day!

The Easter message is a call to joy.

It is the biblical shout of Hallelujah because Christ is risen. It is the good news that Jesus preached while He walked the earth. Accept the Gospel, work with it, not against it, and you will be free. Nothing can harm you with God on your side. God can raise us up if we let Him. He can raise us up right now, give us new life, help us to fight the good fight, make us whole, and fill us with joy, deep and penetrating.

Be glad for the simple signs of life we so often take for granted. The simple joy of rising in the morning to a hopeful new day. The precious gift of friends who are tried and true, and the graceful lives of generous and compassionate people reaching out to those in need.

t is that time of the year again where we celebrate Easter, also known as Resurrection Sunday for most Christians.

Would you believe that Easter Sunday is known to be one of the most churchattended days in the United States of America? It is interesting because in many

The only God that has ever sacrificed himself and rose from death is Jesus Christ.

It was Jesus’s resurrection that changed the world FOREVER. Reading through the Bible, back in the time of Jesus, we can see how His disciples where all willing to give their own lives, even to death, because they all saw Him after His resurrection and believed everything that He had said about who He was. In fact, when they all saw Him for the first time after the resurrection, we can clearly see that all doubt was removed and they had no more doubt that He truly was the Son of God. It is amazing to think that God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son so that you and I could have eternal life. his Easter/Resurrection Sunday, don’t forget the real Reason for the Season.

n Acts 26:8 Paul said to King Agrippa, “Why should it be thought a thing incred- Pastor Rich Ienuso ible with you, that God should raise the dead?”

Paul went on to say that Jesus, the Messiah, “should suffer, and that He should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should show light to the people [the Jews], and to the Gentile” Acts 26:23.

Jesus died and rose from the dead according to the Scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:1-3; Psalms 16 and 22; Isaiah 53) Jesus is alive and well. Because He lives, we can live, too.

Put your faith in a living Savior. He gives hope. You can trust Him with your life.
