Bethlehem Re-Visited

On a cold and windy evening much like the night Jesus was born, according to the stor y, the Glad Ti d ing s Pentecostal Assembly in conjunction with other denominational churches, community and, businesses presented a live event titled ‘Bethlehem Re-Visited’ on December 19. At te n d e e s w h o br ave d t h e c o l d were presented a scene of the Bethlehem marketplace which included the stables where Jesus was born, the Inn which turned Joseph and Mary away, as well as, fabric, blacksmith, bakery, fish and rug shops. feature d a c e n su s p l ac e b e c au s e according to the story of Jesus’ birth, the census that was ordered by Caesar Augustus is what brought Joseph back to the city of David, known as Bethlehem. Joseph was a descendent of the house and lineage of David and had to comply with the command from his ruler to return to complete the census. It is said that God caused Caesar to call the census to fulfill the prophecy that Christ would come from Bethlehem. According to Val Richards one of the organizers for the event it was an interdenominational event that required the cooperation and help from the commu-

nity and business support. “It is a real community effort, Ferbey Sand and Gravel provided the rocks, Webb’s let us use a shop to construct the buildings and tables, Stacey Teasdale from Piece of Cake Wedding Planning gave us the use of lights, Chatsworth Farm supplied the sheep and rabbits courtesy of Adam and Rachel Carlson, and Willy Groeneveld from Mannville supplied some ancient grains for one of the displays,” commented Richards. When asked why they decided to do the scene of the Bethlehem market Richards said, “We feel that our hope is in Christ and that Bethlehem is the beginning of his story.” The census station.
