The Town of Vermilion is pleased to welcome Brian Leibel, CPA as Director of Finance and Administration. Brian brings a wealth of experience from the private sector, the City of Medicine Hat, and most recently the Bethany Group in Camrose. Brian starts his new role on June 1, 2020 with his family relocating to Vermilion in the near future.

Brian is very keen to assume his new role and offers the following comment:

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY VILLAGE OF PARADISE VALLEY VILLAGE PUBLIC WORKS PERSON

The Village of Paradise Valley is currently recruiting for a Village Public Works person. Successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of the water and wastewater system within the village as well as general maintenance of roads, village property and other duties as assigned.

Successful Candidate:

- Must have valid Class Five Driver’s license and provide a current driver’s abstract. - Certified operator for small water and wastewater systems an asset but not necessary as training will be provided. - Must be self-motivated, organized and safety conscious. - Must be able to work as part of a team, or independently without direct supervision. - Have strong interpersonal skills, familiar with computer operating systems, able to - communicate effectively, and be able to operate various pieces of equipment.

ADMINISTRATION NEWS:

 2020 Combined Tax Assessments and Notices will be sent out in the mail before the end of June - please monitor your mail. Tax Payment Deadline is September 30, 2020.  If you want to join the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan for Taxes, you can do so between July 1 and Sept 30 for the upcoming year.

PROTECTIVE SERVICES NEWS:

 Partial Fire Ban has been lifted as of May 22. Please monitor our online outlets in case this changes. Reminder that any burning (other than incinerator/barrel or recreational) requires a Burn Permit from our office.

PUBLIC WORKS NEWS:

 Road Conditions: please monitor our website and social media for updates on Bans and Road Closures during the spring melt. Road Bans remain in lace, as do a number of temporary road closures.  Watering Restrictions: all Hamlets are on watering restrictions whereby even numbered houses can water on even days, odd on odd.

AGRICULTURE NEWS:

 Roadside Mowing: all work must be completed (hay cut, baled and bales removed) by July 15 to allow for mowing. Get a Roadside Hay Permit if you want the roadside left unsprayed until July 15 for haying.  Roadside Spraying: CVR will be spraying weeds and brush along road allowances starting in June 2020. Roadside spraying will focus in Spray Area 2 (found on our website), but will be selectively spraying noxious weeds and brush throughout the County.
