Hundreds of people attended the Clandonald Fair on August 11, with the parade theme being: Saluting Clandonald’s Fire Fighters and First Responders. MLA Dr. Richard Starke took part in the parade along with many area businesses, youth groups, and families. The day was full of activities beginning with a pancake breakfast, musical entertainment by The Prairie Dogs and facepainting. Throughout the afternoon, people continued to enjoy performances by the Lakeland Pipes and Drums Band, and Greg T - Magician, Mentalist, Impersonator; as well as laser tag and a bouncy house. Many enjoyed the exhibit hall, bingo and watermelon eating contest once again, tractor pedal pushers, mutton busting, and a pig contest. “I’m thankful for my volunteers. I work with an awesome Agricultural Society with members and executives who look after
everyone and without volunteers this just wouldn’t be possible. I would also like to thank the participants and the people that take the time to come and support our events; it is greatly appreciated,” said Ron Harasiuk, Clandonald Agricultural Society President. The Clandonald Fire Department gave demonstrations and hosted a dunk tank with County of Vermilion River Division 7 Councillor Leslie Cusack being the first to get dunked! “In times of emergency these individuals step up to the plate. I would like to thank the volunteer firefighters who serve our community so well, as well as for their fundraising efforts and the community for their continued donations to the department,” said Orest Popil, County of Vermilion River Fire Chief. Popil went on to advise safety pre-planning and thanked area farmers for their cooperation during calls for fire, medical
first response, missing people searches, due to a lot of fundraising is happy to have etc. The Clandonald Fire Department has acquired some new equipment over the approximately 20 volunteer members and past five years.
