Congratulations and encouragement was shared as St. Jerome’s School held their graduation ceremony at the Vermilion Regional Centre on April 26. “The Journey Doesn’t End Here’ was the theme of the event, and as graduates approached the stage their favourite memories and plans for the future were shared. Principal Chase emceed the event, and Vice Principal MacMillan sang a special song to the class. Congratulator y speeches were
given from Superintendant Charlie McCormack, School Board Trustee J i m S a n s o n , a n d G u e s t S p e a ke r Kirsten Clark. The 2018 Valedictorian was Jennifer Peterson. Pr i n c i p a l C h a s e s a i d , “ To n i g h t marks one of the single most significant transitions in your life. Follow your dream and especially your passions. It’s been a great experience watching this class grow and blossom, and I’m very proud of each and every one of you. May God bless you all tonight and forever.”
On behalf of Town Council, Mayor Caroline McAuley, offered her congratulations and quoted Henry Thoreau encouraging graduates to go confidently in the direction of their dreams, but encouraged them to always remember Vermilion. “Today marks a milestone; I encourage you to explore and learn new things,” said McAuley. “It’s a day of great celebration. It is important to acknowledge that a ‘journey’ is not just a trip or a hike; but it implies that you are going somewhere
that won’t always be easy. Your preparation includes a moral compass, and whether you know the direction you are going or not, I encourage you to take heed of the words of Isaiah 30:21, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’ On behalf of the Vermilion - Lloydminster Constituency, congratulations on your achievement, and all the best in your future endeavors,” said MLA Dr. Richard Starke. Following the ceremony was a Grand March, and family and friends enjoyed celebrating with the graduates during a dance.
