2013 ANNUAL REPORT Celebrating Hope in Action

1

From the President For many years we have felt Venture is something sacred. Venture is a God-initiated community we hold reverently, never tightly. There is something sacred about physical sacrifice, for others, that changes us. This past year God has strengthened Venture’s foundation and has done great miracles in our community. Here’s a few things that happened in the Venture community in 2013: + A dozen people served overseas. + Over 1,000 refugees received meals daily, along with education and discipleship. + 1,142 participants logged over 94,000 miles to make a significant global impact while growing in their faith. + We partnered with over a 100 churches, universities and ministries. There is a clear urgency to our mission. In America, the need to engage in discipleship that is intentionally sacrificial has grown more urgent than ever as our American Christendom becomes sacrifice-adverse. The prophetic voice God has given Venture is resonating and changing lives. We are in a historic time for the Burmese Refugee crisis. God has placed Venture there ‘for such a time as this’ to help child soldiers, young girls, widows and refugees be released from slavery and oppression to rebuild lives in Christ. All this is in addition to the needs we are meeting in other regions of the world. But the most urgent action is to wait upon God. As urgent as the needs are, we have committed ourselves more than ever to prayer and waiting upon God. We have goals for next year, but more importantly our goal is to let God work in our hearts, and create the future he wants for us and the people we serve. We are grateful for the role you have played in making the most significant year in the Venture community.

SINCERELY, RYAN SKOOG

“While in Thailand, I loved being able to see the work that Venture is doing in, and through, local pastors, churches, church plants and schools. The needs along the Thai/Burmese border are staggering to say the least. But Venture has found a way to not only help meet the physical needs of the hundreds of thousands between the river and the road, but the spiritual and relational needs as well.” — ALICIA DAVIS, SUBSTANCE CHURCH MISSIONS PASTOR
