Hours: 255 hours per week (3 evenings, 1 daytime) There is likely to be the opportunity for additional hours as cover or during busy periods)

Purpose of Role: work as part of a small team serving customers in our cafe/bar /record shop with a particular focus on evening bar service
Ventnor Exchange creates and hosts live events, delivers creative workshops and runs arts venues which are open to everyone.
We’re currently looking for a charismatic new addition to join our small, dedicated team at our church street home, where we have a bar and record store
As a front of house role you will often be the first person our audiences and customers interact with so creating a welcoming, friendly environment where everyone can feel comfortable is key
Our cafe/bar has a particular reputation for its craft beer offer We also sell a range of cocktails and more unusual drinks, coffee/teas and a menu of light snacks
You will learn how to make this wide range of drinks to a high standard, as well as how to operate our till, espresso machine and fulfill orders from our online shop
This role involves taking on bar responsibilities, keeping the workspace clean and tidy at all times in line with food hygiene standards You will help ensure the bar and record shop is stocked up with new products and notifying managers of orders that need to be made in good time
Ventnor Exchange is also an active community space, and the Front of House team needs to have a good knowledge of upcoming events so that you can actively promote them and answer audiences’ questions We often host theatre,

music and education groups in the venue so understanding of these different groups is essential to help to accommodate their needs including changing the layout of the space. You will also learn how to sell tickets using our box office software.
This role is principally in the evenings so we are particularly looking for a confident bar person who is able to work alone at times and host the space responsibly.
Essential skills, experience and qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about great customer service and who shares our ambition to create an inclusive, creative space for people of all ages to hang out
This role would be perfect for an individual who enjoys a front of house role and wants to combine this with an interest in music and culture
Prior experience in a bar environment and knowledge of licensing law is essential. A Personal License is desirable but not essential as we will support you to obtain this if necessary.
You must be punctual, trustworthy and well presented as well as confident in a public facing role and able to work on your own and as part of a team You will have an openness and willingness to learn new skills in this unique cafe/bar/record shop/creative hub
