The meeting was inaugurated by Thiru. S.A. Raman, the District Collector and Dr. J.V. Peter,Director, CMC. More than 200 patients, relatives and 50 rheumatologists from across the nation participated in the meeting.

The first day of the meeting witnessed a variety of lectures and discussions by specialists. The meeting facilitated the discussion of 10 common rheumatic diseases and the patients were given time to clear their doubts and queries.

Since Rheumatic diseases have become more prevalent, covert in presentation, often undiagnosed and misunderstood by patients and society, this meeting was a step to bring together patients, care givers The talks highlighted the causation, and healthcare providers to educate nature, treatment options, side effects and enlighten the patients on various of drugs, diet, monitoring & follow issues pertaining to their illness.

he Department of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology st organized the 1 National Joint Meeting of Patients and Healthcare providers in th th Rheumatology, on 15 and 16 of December, 2017 with the aim to raise awareness among patients.

Hyderabad, JIPMER-Pondicherry and St. John’s-Bangalore led the lectures and discussions on various rheumatic diseases.A ‘Disease Based Group workshop’ with patients and specialists from Rheumatology, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy was organised.

Dr. Anna Pulimood, Principal was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory function. As the two day meeting concluded successfully, it was decided and announced that a “Society for Patients with Rheumatic Disorders” will be set up under the mentor-ship of Christian Medical College for taking a ‘patient pro’ agenda forward and thus empowering the patients. These initiatives will further assist in formulation of national governmental policies and funding of new research.

Founder's Day Celebration 2017 The 147 th birth anniversary of Dr. Ida S. Scudder, our beloved founder, was celebrated on December 9, 2017. It was a day to reflect on the courage, faith and vision of Dr.Scudderand a time of rededication to the service that she so ably began.

The commemoration began with a Thanksgiving Service in the Hospital Chapel.

An inspiring message which drew on the exemplary life and legacy of Dr. Ida was delivered by Dr. Daisy Singh, former Physician, Community Health Department.

The Founder’s Day programme honouring all those staff who retired during the year was held at the New Examination Hall. The chief guest for the occasion was Dr. R. Selvakumar, Former General Superintendent, who in his address highlighted the uniqueness of CMC and shared his own insights to live a simple and peaceful retired life. Ninety two staff who retired during the year and 7 staff who died in service were honoured for carrying on the vision of Dr. Ida and for their dedicated service to the institution. South Zone Intercollegiate Nursing Quiz competition- ZENITH- 2017 The annual event for Nursing Students, ZENITH- 2017 was conducted

by PSG College of Nursing, Coimbatore on 6 th December, 2017.

A total of 35 teams from 19 colleges of South Zone participated in the event. Two teams from College of Nursing, CMC participated and won the first prize for the third consecutive year. The focus of the quiz this year was General Knowledge, Community Health Nursing and Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing.

The 15th Annual PG refresher course organised by the Department of Radiology The fifteenth annual Post-Graduate Refresher Course organised by the Department of Radiology, was held on the 5th and 6th of January 2018. A total of 160 post-graduate residents in radiology from various institutions across the country attended this 2-day workshop.

The highlights of this workshop included exam oriented lectures, rapid fire sessions on PACS work station and practical mock exams.

workshop facilitated spotters, quiz, viva, case based discussions and practical tips on how to prepare and perform for a successful viva voce. The workshop was made possible through the efforts of the entire Department and through the informative lectures

Module (AT-COM) on 12th January 2018. The objective of the programme was to sensitize the participants for the successful implementation of the ATCOM modules as the forerunner of the transition to competency based medical education programas per the MCI Directives.
