hristmas season offers a great opportunity and a special time of the year for the staff and students of CMC to raise funds to bless disadvantaged people in Vellore. The Christmas Cheer Carnival, a fundraising event was organised on December 02, 2017 at the Hospital campus. Dr. J.V. Peter, Director and Dr. Sunil Chandy, Former Director, inaugurated the stalls and Mr. Sunny Kuruvilla, Acting Head, Materials Department welcomed the gathering. Dr. Premila Lee, Nursing Superintendent, Dr. Selva Titus Chacko, Dean, College of Nursing, Mr. Ebinezar Sundarraj, General Superintendent,
Dr. Rohit Amritanand, Deputy Medical Superintendent and Dr. Simon Pavamani, Vice-Principal graced the occasion. The evening turned out to be fun-filled with food stalls,games and entertainment by Nursing Students. The total collection at the carnival was about Rs.1,700,000 which would benefit 3000 beneficiaries across 45 homes for the disadvantaged in and around Vellore.

Nursing Services received ‘Nursing Excellence’ Certification by NABH et another accolade to the Institution was obtained by the nursing services, by receiving the ‘Nursing Excellence’ certification by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals. The NABH Nursing Excellence Standards focuses on various professional, administrative and governance aspects namely Nursing Resource Management (NRM), Nursing Care of Patient (NCP), Management of Medication (MOM), Education, Communication and Guidance (ECG), Infection Control Practices (ICP), Empowerment and Governance (EG), and Nursing
Quality Indicators (NQI). It comprised of a total of 48 standards with 216 objective elements incorporated within these standards. The Nursing Services went through a rigorous process to gear up for the NABH inspection with the efforts of various nursing heads and Department Quality Managers. The inspection was carried out by three NABH primary assessors from 24 th to 26th of June 2017. After the inspection, the assessors duly acknowledged the knowledge, skills, confidence and assertiveness of nurses and the excellent services of specialist nurses. A total of 25
non-conformances were mentioned which were rechecked and closed. The NABH announced the th certification on the 15 of November 2017 and the certification will be valid th till 14 November, 2019. 1
