General Services Christian Medical College is supported by a dedicated team of Support Staff. These include the following Departments:

The Civil Engineering Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of buildings, water supply, sanitation and roads. During 2012-13, a total of 14 major projects (above Rs. 5.00 lakhs) and 47 minor projects (below Rs.5.00 lakhs) were completed for an overall value of Rs.5,82,77,400.00. Another 22 major projects and 16 minor projects are under progress. A total of 15,975 maintenance jobs in masonry, plumbing, carpentry, painting etc. were also carried out.
The Department of Dietetics takes care of the nutritional needs of the outpatients and the inpatients. The team consists of a chief dietitian and 13 qualified dietitians. During 2012-13, 1,46,898 hospital diets were served. A total of 25,155 patients were seen in the Outpatient Department.
The Electrical Engineering Department takes care of all the electrical and fire safety requirements of the Main Hospital. It maintains 25 transformers, 33 generators and 62 lifts. During 2012-13, the total power consumed in the Town campus was 2,51,36,276 units. Steps have been taken to replace old electrical devices with newer, energy efficient ones. The institution has proposed and envisaged 50.4 KWP Solar Power System on the OPD Block Terrace. Fire safety equipment is regularly serviced and maintained. Special maintenance work is done for all wards and the ICUs. The Electronic Engineering Department is involved in the installation, calibration, testing and maintenance of Biomedical Equipment and Electronic Equipment. It also maintains some of the centralized systems such as the Pneumatic Chute, OPD Patient paging, Nurse paging, Chapel Relay and Surveillance Camera systems. Over the past year, the Department has introduced systems like Online Capital Budget, Online Medical Gas Request etc. The Pneumatic system was upgraded with optical sensors and RFID for 20 stations. From January 1, 2013, the departmental procedures and processes have been computerized, making the department paperless.

The Hospital Maintenance is responsible for the cleanliness and general maintenance of the Hospital Campus. The College Maintenance looks after the same in the Bagayam Campus. A dedicated team of Hospital Housekeeping attendants work tirelessly to maintain standards of cleanliness in the Hospital.

The Postal Section handled 64,503 registered letters and 688 registered parcels.
The Central Sterile Supply Department marks forty years of dedicated service to the institution. During 2012-13, the Department received 32,23,860 items for sterilization and processed 43,30,616 sterile packs. An average of 11,864 packs were processed every day, and 6,59,302 items were supplied to the OPDs.

The Department of Environmental Engineering supervises the provision of uninterrupted drinking water supply to the CMC Town campus, the College of Nursing Kagitapattarai campus and the Schell Eye Hospital. The Sewage Treatment Plant, also maintained by the department, produces 18 to 20 lakh litres of recycled water every day. This creation of this department in 2011 was a major step by the institution to reduce its carbon footprint.

Dr. Alfred Job Daniel, Principal and Professor of Orthopaedics was conferred the Best Teacher Award at the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. Mrs. Alice Augustine, former Nursing Superintendent and Head of Maternity Nursing Department was honoured with the Best Teacher Award by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. Dr. Alok Srivastava, Professor of Haematology has been chosen to occupy the Ida Scudder Research Chair for Clinical Sciences. Dr. Alok was elected Vice President, Medical of the World Federation of Hemophilia. He also received the Inga Marie Nilsson Award from the World Federation of Hemophilia for leading the effort to create the international guidelines for the management of Hemophilia. Dr. Amit Kumar Datta, Associate Professor of Gastroenterology was one of the two recipients of the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology Research Fellowship Programme 2012

Dr. Mazda K.Turel, Assistant Professor, Department of Neurological Sciences was awarded the Professor S. Kalyanaraman Gold Medal Prize in Neurosurgery for his outstanding performance at the prize exam held at Madras Medical College, Chennai. Dr. Molly Jacob, Professor of Biochemistry has been chosen to occupy the Jacob Chandy Research Chair for Pre-Clinical Sciences. Dr. Nihal Thomas, Professor of Endocrinology delivered the MMS Ahuja Oration at the 42nd Annual Conference of the Endocrine Society of India. He has also been selected to the Editorial Board of Clinical Endocrinology.
Dr. Raj Dayal Singh, alumnus of the MBBS batch of 1974 was presented the Emmanuel Sunder Raj Award. Dr. V. Rajshekhar, Professor of Neurosurgery was honoured with the Swasth Bharat Samman Award 2012 in the Healthcare (Neurology) category by Zee News and LIC. Dr. Rajshekhar has also been elected as President Elect of the Neurological Society of India. Dr. Regi Thomas, Associate Professor, Department of ENT was awarded the European Skull Base Society Travel Fellowship Award 2012 by the European Skull Base Society. Mrs. Rosaline Jayakaran, Dean and Professor and Head of Community Health Nursing was honoured with the Best Teacher Award by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. She has also been elected Member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Nursing Education, Nurses’ League, CMAI for the period 2012-14. Dr. Sahaya Anbarasi, Distance Education Unit was conferred the Best Doctor Award at the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. Dr. Saikat Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology was awarded the Dr GC Pant Young Radiation Oncologist Award at the 34th National Conference of the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India. Dr. Samuel Paul, Vice Chairman, CMC Vellore Association was honoured with the AIMA - Kewal Nohria Award for Academic Leadership in Management Education 2012. Mrs. Saramma George, former Dean and Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing was awarded the Life Time Service Award in Nursing Education by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. Dr. R Selvakumar, Professor of Clinical Biochemistry was awarded the Shri AJ Thakur Memorial Award at the 39th ACBICON 2012 for his significant contributions to the field of Clinical Biochemistry. Dr. R. Srinivas Murthy, alumnus of the MBBS batch of 1964 was awarded the 2012 Juan Jose Lopez Ibor Award by the World Psychiatric Association Dr. K.
