A workshop on Burn Nursing- Challenging Roles of a Nurse was conducted on 1st and 2nd April, 2016 at the Paul Brand building, CMC, Vellore, hosted by College of Nursing, Medical Surgical Specialty I, along with Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Department. Totally 49 delegates participated from in and around Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, representing Mission hospitals and Corporate hospitals. The workshop opened with a prayer by Chaplain Rev. Hamar B.Lyngkhoi. Professor Beulah Premkumar, Organising Chairperson & Head, Burn Nursing Department, introduced the chief guest, Professor Prema Dhanraj, former Head, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, CMC, Vellore. She emphasised the advancements in Burn management and the need to extend facilities to admit more burn victims for quality children and adult burn care. Dr.Sunil Chandy, Director, Dr. C. E. Eapen, Medical Superintendent, Dr.Selva Titus Chacko, Dean, Mrs. Florence Segaran, Acting Nursing Superintendent and Dr.Ashish Kumar Gupta, Professor and Head of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery felicitated the gathering and encouraged the delegates to avail the opportunity to take up the one-year Post Diploma course in Burn Nursing from CMC, Vellore. Dr. Punitha Ezhilarasu, retired Professor & Head of Medical Surgical Nursing, addressed the gathering with an emphasis on the need for research in the Nursing profession, to strengthen the evidencebased Nursing practice for quality care. The programme overview was given by Mrs. Regina Xavier, Organising Secretary followed by a vote of thanks by Mrs. Alice Suresh Kumar, Professor, College of Nursing.
