NEW YEAR MESSAGE Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5 : 1 - 5
Moulting is a biological phenomenon seen in nature. The seasonal shedding of old foliage giving way to a new batch of leaves and flowers is an expression of renewal. It is a normal, natural phenomenon. Many animal species shed their outer skin to emerge bigger and better at periodic intervals. The larva gives way to the pupa and the pupa to the butterfly. Even we, human beings, unknowingly discard flakes of our old skin and accept new layers from below. There is truth in the oxymoron that renewal is a constant change enshrined in nature and programmed by God. There is no escape to renewal. Renewal happens not only in organic tissues but also in the geo-physical realm. Every night gives way to a new day. Every spring is followed by summer. Every winter is followed by spring. Every old year will gracefully move over for another New Year. Likewise, 2015 is handing over the baton to 2016. It has run for a year and may have slowed down towards the last few months. A wee bit tired and brow-beaten by the setbacks of natural disasters towards the end. The incoming year 2016, is taking the baton with a ‘josh’ ready to inject the required momentum . There are three things that come with the New Year. New Beginnings - the new year provides us an opportunity to make new resolutions and find new directions in many aspects of our life. Some may resolve to work harder towards their career goals. Some may decide to be more organized in their prayer routines. There may be many other resolutions but the most important of all, in my opinion , is new beginnings in relationships. 2016 may be a good year to renew friendships, mend broken ones and establish new rapport. It is in doing so we will be more effective and successful. New Momentum – So much needs to be done. The demand of work keeps increasing. The expectation of people for honest, ethical healthcare is escalating by the day. Not enough rooms are there in our inn. By God’s grace, we have made significant progress
