Mrs. Christy Simpson, Professor and Head of Obstetrics and Dr. Susanne A. Pulimood and Staff Gynaecology Nursing Department, College of Nursing retired on Mrs. Anbu S. Kumar and Staff May 15, 2014 after 37 years of dedicated services to the institution. She is an alumnus of the Diploma Nursing batch of 1973, Dental and Oral Surgery : Dr. Rabin K. Chacko and Staff Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing batch of 1981 and MSc Nursing batch Dr. Santosh Koshy and Staff of 1988.

Mrs. Christy hails from a devout Christian family, the youngest of four children, in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. On completion of her GNM in 1977, she started her career as a staff nurse in the labour room in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing Department and continued to pursue her studies and became the Ward In charge of labour room in 1983. After her completion of M.Sc. in Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing Specialty she joined the College of Nursing as Junior Lecturer and rose up to become the Professor and Head of the department. Currently she is awaiting her Viva for Ph.D in Nursing under The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. Mrs. Christy has the reputation of an excellent teacher and mentor. As a midwife her skills were commendable and she was very passionate about care for pregnant women. She always expected her staff to provide the same high quality care. Over the years, she has lovingly mentored both undergraduate and post graduate students. She strongly believed that a teacher’s role was not merely to impart knowledge, but rather to equip students with skills and values for life. Her students loved her. She was honoured with the best teacher award in 2012 by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai.

She was a God fearing person demonstrating her faith in life. Being optimistic, she always did her best to instill positive Christian Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved attitudes to her colleagues, staff and students. She was very active members of the families at this time of grief and loss.
