There are so many unique things about Las Vegas and something that is often overlooked is the hiking, outdoor adventure opportunities, easy hikes, camping and, of course, the rare geological occurrences that occur in few places around the world!

Where to find great gluten free food in Las Vegas

We have tracked down actually good and actually GF dishes at area restaurants. Click on over to the site for the full list that is updatedmonthly.

It can be hard to find good restaurants with worthy gluten-free menus for kids as well as adults. This list is based on local parents suggestionsintheVegasKidsZoneFacebook group as well as emails sent in from avid readersofourweeklynewsletter.

Finding reliable places to eat out when you have little kids with gluten allergies or Celiac disease can turn a fun night into a chore. Even small amounts of gluten can trigger reactions in some people with gluten allergies or sensitivities. Cross-contamination can occur when gluten-free foods come into contact with gluten-containing foods, utensils, or surfaces.

To prevent accidental exposure, it’s comforting to know that the person preparing the food understands the importance of not cross-contaminating any food.

Breaking the Myths of foster parenting

Helping local kids in a time of need is rewarding and NYAP can help!

I get a lot of asks about how to help with our overwhelming need for fostering in Las Vegas. I reached out to Cathy De Los Santos, Growth and Retention Coordinator for National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) to answer subscribers’ questions and share with you what I found to be fascinating about the current state of fostering in Las Vegas.

NYAP provides education on fostering options and dispel myths to help people make informed decisions about fostering youth in Clark County. They also provide specialized foster care for children who have therapeutic needs which means they are receiving medical or behavioral health services

At each Q&A, Cathy debunks many myths about foster care as well as shared some surprises at her monthly in-person and virtual Q&As with locals.

Training consists of about 40 hours of comprehensive classes including the basics of fostering and the children in care, Crisis Prevention, First Aid, Prudent parenting, routine documentation and much more.

From an in-home Q and A to assistance filling out the paperwork and all the questions in between, the NYAP team is there to support the applicants.

As part of our Vegas Kids Zone Spotlight series, we feature local kids and teens doing amazingthingsineachissue!

One of the first local young entrepreneurs to join the VKZ Kidpreneur Club, Angelina Agasi is a teen author who has a passion for writing children’s stories, painting original works and volunteering in the community. She has a goal of becoming a bestselling author by the age of twenty and having watched her in action, we can’t wait to congratulateherfuturesuccess!

Angelina has a natural curiosity about the world and animals. She enjoys researching differentspeciesandtheirhabitatsandbegan writingaboutthemearlyon.

Her passion has turned out three published books within the series, Paws of Love: Children’s Series. A fourth book,“Paws of Love:Tortoises,”isintheeditingprocessand is due out this year. She also paints and consistently sells her original art at markets aroundthevalley.

She is inspiring in her discipline and passion for helping others. At each event, she has reached out to fellow kidpreneurs to connect them with others and set up their tables and presentations.

Local teen author and painter creates works inspired by animals

Finding purpose in every cycle

The tedious chore of laundry gave this longtime local family new meaning and direction

Helping families manage the often overwhelming and essential chore of laundry has become its own reward for locals, Zach Bouwkamp and Priscilla Celis, The now-thriving business was born from a difficulttimeinthefamily.

“We are humbled and honored to be the owners of Fluff & Fold,” said Priscilla, born and raised in Las Vegas.“Runningthisbusinessalongsideouramazing familyfillsuswithimmensegratitude.”
