ABOUT The School of Accounting at Florida Atlantic University is a professional school operating within the State University System. ACCOUNTING SCHOLARS PROGRAM The Accounting Scholars Program (ASP) is an honors program that prepares highly motivated students for careers as professional accountants. The ASP aims to equip students with high-level proficiencies and skills integral to a variety of accounting careers as well as graduate studies with a rigorous accounting curriculum in restricted honors classes and a capstone case competition. Outside of the classroom, students engage in peer mentoring and professional development activities that provide valuable networking opportunities. Upon completion of all ASP and undergraduate degree requirements, students receive an undergraduate degree with honors. After earning a master’s degree at FAU, ASP students are awarded the Accounting Scholars Program Medallion – the highest honor bestowed by the School of Accounting.

Accounting CENTER FOR FORENSIC ACCOUNTING FAU's Center for Forensic Accounting is one of the first in the country and the only one in Florida to focus on forensic accounting - a field that generally employs a mix of accounting, auditing and investigation to scrutinize financial information and other forms of evidence to provide analysis to courts of law, corporations and others.

“The broader missions of the Center for Forensic Accounting are education and outreach to the business community and government, in addition to students; another is developing knowledge in forensic accounting and fraud detection and

prevention. ABOUT The Business Communications Program prepares undergraduate, graduate and executive students to communicate more effectively in their fields. Taking an integrative approach—highlighted by AACSB as an “effective practice” in a report on FAU’s College of Business—courses target specific disciplines (finance, accounting, etc.) so students learn to apply communication principles directly to communication situations they will encounter in their careers. The program also engages with the local business community offering communication expertise as well as ensuring curriculum objectives continue to reflect current business needs.

conomics helps us understand the world around us and how it really works. At its core, economics is the study of how to evaluate alternatives and make better choices.

In 20192020, BEPI conducted twelve surveys with results featured in several leading media outlets such as Washington Post, MSNBC, Reuters and MarketWatch – giving significant exposure to FAU. Center for Economic Education The FAU Center for Economic Education promotes economic education by offering in-service workshops and programs for K-12 educators in its service area.

These workshops and programs emphasize active learning techniques to introduce economics, personal finance and entrepreneurship into a number of subjects including geography, mathematics, history, civics as well as many other subjects.

Finance REAL ESTATE INITIATIVE The FAU Real Estate Initiative investigates and shares real estate knowledge and information with the local community as well as with regional, state and even national audiences.

Local problems, while at a smaller scale, often reflect national issues. Thus, research on local problems and the search for local solutions may lead to solutions at a larger geographic scale.

is designed to signal whether current market conditions favor buying or renting a home in terms of wealth creation over a fixed holding period in a particular market relative to historical market conditions and alternative investment opportunities.

The BH&J Index provides information on the health of housing markets around the country enabling consumers, real estate market professionals, developers, lenders and housing policy makers to make more informed decisions.

We provide our majors with hands-on experience implementing cutting-edge business practice through classes, student organizations, and internships, thus positioning them for successful marketing careers."

ABOUT The FAU Marketing Department’s rigorous academic programs and applied project work, coupled with the original research produced by faculty, prepare students for professional careers in the growing fields of brand management, digital and social media marketing, retail management, advertising, and sales.

Applied projects are interwoven with academic coursework to expose students to a range of current marketing trends and strategies. Original research and creative scholarship among department faculty contribute to improvements in both the theory and practice of marketing. Students are prepared to become effective marketing managers in the customer-centered marketplace of tomorrow.

HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT The Marketing Department also prides itself on the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program, a subset of the Marketing Department.

The program prepares students for management positions in multiple segments of the world’s largest service industry.

Top 30 in the U.S.: The Hospitality Program was ranked among the Top 30 hospitality and tourism programs. The program was also recognized as an Affiliated School through the American Hotel & Lodging Association Foundation, providing an additional $7,500 in scholarships to FAU hospitality and tourism majors.

The Marketing Internship Program helps match students to professional opportunities in a wide variety of industries and marketing specializations. Internships give students a chance to

Marketing apply their classroom learning to real-world business situations, to explore different career paths, and to build their résumés and their professional networks. Studies show that having an internship experience leads to more job offers and higher pay upon graduation, and internships frequently turn into offers for full-time employment.

Marketing students may also earn optional course credit for their internships.

CENTER FOR SERVICES MARKETING AND MANAGEMENT The Center for Services Marketing and Management was founded in 1991 with the mission of creating new knowledge and understanding of service issues. It works to connect service professionals, FAU faculty, and FAU students with the intent to collaborate on initiatives and projects that are critical to understanding, designing and delivering excellent service.

22 The FAU American Marketing Association (AMA) continues to grow its membership and activities.

In just its second year of competition, the FAU chapter ranked among the top 25 universities in the AMA Collegiate Case Competition, an international contest featuring 66 entries. The group continues to provide

professional development and networking opportunities to its members and the broader business student population by engaging with companies, non-profits and professionals to create workshops, host guest speakers, and participate in projects that build student leadership and marketing skills and give back to the community.
