Internet of Things, Internet of Everything o…

Semplicemente l’inizio della vita “interconnessa”

Oggetti “interconnessi” che possono comunicare tra loro senza alcuna necessità di intervento da parte dell’uomo: il letto dialoga con le tapparelle e la macchinetta del caffè – con un semplice gesto, la discesa dal letto, le tapparelle si alzano e il fuoco si accende! Tutto questo non fa più parte di uno scenario futuristico ma di quella che potremmo definire una reale e concreta “smart home”. Ma non solo, oggetti che comunicano in modo seamless con le persone. E ci comunicano a tal punto che internet è destinata a… sparire semplicemente per essere ricompresa nel tutto. Lì stiamo andando e lì finiremo, e nel cammino tante cose, tante abitudini ma soprattutto tanti modelli di business, organizzativi e di consumo cambieranno in modo epocale.

Già molti oggetti nati per dialogare con la Rete esistono e sono sul mercato: pratica-

mente tutto ciò che di consumer è connesso ad una rete elettrica è ormai collegabile anche a Internet, e da qui ad altri oggetti con cui costruire routine e configurazioni di utilizzo sempre più sofisticate, personalizzate e in autoapprendimento rispetto al contesto in cui esistono.

Questa è la nuova mecca degli investimenti da parte di big names della tecnologia come Apple, Microsoft, Google e Qualcomm.

Ma l’IoT non è solo un vezzo per aumentare la lista, quasi infinita, delle nostre comodità. Quando, ad esempio, ada investire nell’Internet delle Cose è la startup Cyrcadia Health, che ha sviluppato un sistema per identificare, tramite un dispositivo wearable, le cellule tumorali del seno, la portata rivoluzionaria degli oggetti connessi diventa lampante. Anche Doug Oberhelman, CEO dell’azienda statunitense Caterpillar Inc.,

storica produttrice di veicoli pesanti, giustifica così il suo interesse nello sviluppo della tecnologia IoT: “Abbiamo poco più di 3 milioni di macchine in funzione in qualche parte del mondo ogni giorno.

Quello che ancora non abbiamo è che tutte queste macchine siano connesse in un sistema in grado di prevenire i guasti“.

Non si tratta solo di funzionalità e benessere: quello dell’Internet of Things è un ecosistema tanto affascinante quanto profittevole, e gli studi in merito si sono moltiplicati negli ultimi anni: La ricerca pubblicata a giugno dalla International data Corporation (IDC) evidenzia che nel 2014 questo mercato ha generato un fatturato di 655.8 miliardi di dollari, ed entro il 2020 la cifra crescerà fino a 1.7 mila miliardi.

Le stime però sono ancora molto indefinite, si pensi che secondo il rapporto realizza-

to dal McKinsey Global Institute entro il 2025 il potenziale impatto economico di questo settore sarà addirittura compreso fra i 4 mila e gli 11 mila miliardi di dollari. In una intervista a Fortune, Raj Talluri – vice presidente del settore product management della Qualcomm – afferma che “nessuno ha ancora capito quanto questo mercato diventerà grande, perché le possibilità sono davvero infinite.”

Lo scenario dell’IoT è del tutto nuovo ed è per questo che in molti evidenziano come si debbano ancora definirne i confini e individuare eventuali criticità, ad esempio la gestione coordinata dei dispositivi. Basti pensare che ogni casa produttrice sta sviluppando i propri oggetti “connessi” in maniera autonoma, perciò è necessario capire come far comunicare il frigorifero Samsung, la lavatrice Whirlpool, il termostato

The beginning of an “interconnected” life

Connected objects that can communicate with each other without any need for human intervention: a bed that talks to the blinds and the coffee machine – so that with a simple gesture, getting out of bed, the blinds roll up and the fire rises! All this is no longer part of a futuristic scenario, but what we might call a real and concrete “smart home”. And not just that: objects can communicate seamlessly with people too. They communicate to the extent that the Internet is going to… disappear and be incorporated into the Internet of Everything.

That will be our destination, and on our way there many things will change completely – especially our consumption habits and related business models.

Many objects have been created to interact with the network and are already on the

market. Today, virtually every commodity that is connected to a power grid can also be connected to the Internet, and from there to other objects with which it builds increasingly sophisticated configurations, which can be self-learning and customized to their context. This is the new mecca of investments by big technology names such as Apple, Microsoft, Google and Qualcomm.

But the IoT is not just a means to increase the almost infinite list of our comforts. When, for example, “Cyrcadia Health”, a startup that has developed a system to identify breast cancer cells through a wearable device, invests in the Internet of Things, the revolutionary impact of connected objects becomes blatant. Doug Oberhelman, CEO of Caterpillar Inc., the renowned American producer of heavy vehicles, explains his interest in the

development of IoT technology in these terms: “We have slightly over 3 million machines running somewhere in the world every day. What we don’t have today is all of those [machines] hooked into a system that can predict failures.”

However, it is not just a question of functionality and comfort. The Internet of Things is a fascinating and most of all profitable ecosystem, which is why studies about it have multiplied in recent years.

Research published in June by the International Data Corporation (IDC) shows that the IoT business generated 655.8 billion dollar sales in 2014, and this figure is expected to grow to 1,700 billion by 2020.

Estimates, though, are still very vague: for instance, according to a report by the McKinsey Global Institute, this sector will have a potential economic impact of between 4,000 and 11,000 billion dol-

lars by 2025. In an interview with Fortune, Raj Talluri – Qualcomm senior vice president of product management – says, “I don’t think anyone really knows yet how big it’s going to get because the possibilities are really endless.”

The IoT scenario is utterly new and that is why many analysts urge for a definition of boundaries and an identification of potential critical issues, such as the coordinated management of devices.

Indeed, every manufacturer is developing its “connected” objects independently, so one main challenge will be to understand how to connect our Samsung refrigerator to our Whirlpool washing machine, Nest thermostat, Sears dishwasher and ADT security system. To this end, thanks to the levers of venture capital, the first intermediary devices were born – I’m thinking for instance of IFTTT (if this then that) –

Forse un tema ancora da risolvere davvero è quello riguardante la privacy. Infatti, l’IoT è prima di tutto una rete di informazioni: per funzionare i dispositivi devono sapere tutto o quasi della nostre abitudini, dagli spostamenti quotidiani alle medicine che prendiamo. Inoltre, alcuni analisti sostengono che il vasto pubblico non sia poi così interessato ad avere oggetti interconnessi.

Altro aspetto da non sottovalutare, e se vogliamo qui in Italia questo vale doppio, è relativo alla disponibilità di banda. Questo tipo di Internet è infatti esponenziale in ter-

mini di consumo di banda, la cui capacità è alla base della stessa possibilità di dialogare in modo efficace tra gli oggetti e le persone connesse. Entrare in casa e trovare il riscaldamento spento, la televisione disattivata e il congelatore staccato perché la nostra rete non è riuscita a sostenere tutti gli scambi di dati necessari sarebbe quantomeno sgradevole… Ma questa è una storia vecchia: vale anche per l’internet che già conosciamo, quindi non ci resta che sperare che in Italia il problema sia affrontato con il rilievo che merita.

In ogni caso, le grandi realtà del settore sembrano ottimiste e stanno cercando di aggiudicarsi una fetta della torta, e in tempi brevi, perché secondo Gartner il 50% delle soluzioni interconnesse per le aziende arriveranno sul mercato entro la fine del 2017 grazie a start-up non più vecchie di tre anni.

La ricerca di Tata Consultancy Services ha rilevato

che 26 tra le più importanti aziende di tutto il mondo, di cui 14 negli Stati Uniti, prevedono di spendere entro la fine dell’anno almeno 1 miliardo di dollari nel settore IoT. Samsung, per esempio, ha acquistato Smart Things, un’azienda che sviluppa soluzioni per la casa intelligente, e ha annunciato che entro il 2020 tutti i suoi prodotti, dai telefoni ai frigoriferi, saranno interconnessi. Google sta lavorando a Brillo, un sistema operativo che i realizzatori di dispositivi IoT possono utilizzare sui propri smart objects, oltre ad aver acquistato per 3,2 miliardi di dollari Nest Labs, la startup che produce termostati intelligenti. Anche Facebook sta investendo sulla propria piattaforma software, Parse, che permette lo sviluppo di applicazioni per la domotica e l’Internet of Things. Apple ha da alcuni mesi rilasciato HomeKit, piattaforma che consente agli oggetti intelligenti di dialogare con IPhone e IPad. Intel e Qualcomm hanno crea-

Ma la stessa nostra Enel grazie ai suoi smart meter è oggi l’utility con il maggior numero – oltre 60 milioni – di apparati connessi e attivi.

Tanti progetti che dimostrano ancora una volta come, tra tutti i trend legati al mondo della tecnologia, il più influente sia l’Internet of Things, che sta diventando sempre più pervasivo, uscendo dal settore digital per conquistare potenzialmente ogni altra porzione del mercato.

Di certo, questo fenomeno è quello che nel corso dei prossimi anni offrirà le opportunità di disruption più significative.

Another still unresolved issue is the question of privacy. In fact, the IoT is primarily an information network: it must know everything about us – our habits, our daily commute, even the medicines we take. In addition, some analysts argue that the general public is not so interested in having interconnected objects.

Another aspect we should not underestimate, especially in Italy, is bandwidth availability. With the IoT, bandwidth usage will grow exponentially and so should its capacity, which lays at the basis of a smooth communication between connected objects and people. To go back home and find that heating, television and freezer are off because our network was unable to support the required data

exchange would be very unpleasant… However, this is an old story: it also applies to the internet we already know, and we can only hope that in Italy this problem will be finally and seriously solved.

In any case, technology’s big names are optimistic: they are trying to grab their slice of the pie, and quickly. According to Gartner, 50% of interconnected solutions for companies will hit the market by the end of 2017. In addition, Tata Consultancy Services found that 26 of the most important companies around the world, of which 14 come from the United States, plan to invest at least $1 billion in the IoT industry by the end of the year. Just to mention some: Samsung has bought Smart Things, a company that designs smart home solutions, and has announced that by 2020 all its products, from phones to refrigerators, will be interconnected.

Google has bought Nest

Labs, a start-up that makes smart thermostats, for $ 3.2 billion, and is about to launch Brillo, an operating system that works on any smart object and IoT device; Facebook too is investing in its software platform, Parse, which allows the development of applications for home automation and the Internet of Things. A few months ago, Apple released HomeKit, a platform that allows smart objects to communicate with the iPhone and iPad. Intel and Qualcomm have created chips that can confer computer intelligence to any inanimate object. Even Netflix has launched its smart object – an all-in-one prototype that can switch the TV on, access Netflix, dim the lights and even order dinner at the simple push of a button. In Italy, Enel’s smart meter is now the utility with the largest number – 60 million – of connected devices.

All these projects prove that, among all the trends related

to the world of technology, the most influential is the Internet of Things, which is becoming more and more pervasive, starting from the digital industry and spreading to virtually any other corner of the market. In the coming years, this phenomenon will offer the most significant opportunities for technological disruption.

Convenzionalmente, il mercato del rivestimento decorativo è alla ricerca di un miglioramento della durata del rivestimento, della resistenza ai graffi e della brillantezza del colore. I tempi stanno cambiando e anche se questi fattori sono ancora importanti, altri elementi sono spesso presi in considerazione.

Decorative coatings are influenced by many trends, some regarding fashion, others regarding functionality and production methods. In this article IHI Hauzer Techno Coating’s decorative coatings product team members; Pascal Evers and Chinmay Trivedi, will give you some insight in the current trends that influence the development of decorative coating technologies.

Conventionally, the decorative coating markets are looking for an improvement of lifespan, scratch resistance and brilliant colours. Times are changing and although these factors are still of importance, other elements are often taken into account as well.

Una tendenza importante nell’industria del rivestimento in generale è la necessità di evitare l’uso del Cr+6 nei processi di produzione perché è cancerogeno e sarà vietato da sempre più Paesi nel prossimo futuro. Alcune normative come la REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemical Substances, 2007), la direttiva 2011/65/EU sulla restrizione all’uso di alcune sostanze pericolose nelle attrezzature elettriche ed elettroniche e la direttiva 2012/19/EU sullo smaltimento delle attrezzature elettriche ed elettroniche hanno un grande impatto sui nuovi investimenti in attrezzature per il rivestimento. La galvanizzazione, la tecnica convenzionale di tempra dei substrati, dovrà trovare alternative più ecologiche e più salutari. La Deposizione Fisica da Vapore (PVD) è una di queste alternative. Poiché i rivestimenti vengono applicati in una camera a vuoto, la tecnologia è pulita e senza rischi. Un numero sempre maggiore di produttori nel settore della gioielleria e occhialeria si dedica alla ricerca di tecnologie alternative che salvaguardino i loro mercati.

An important trend in the coating industry in general is the need to avoid the use of Cr+6 in production processes, because it is carcinogenic and will be banned by more and more governments in the near future. Regulations such as REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemical Substances, 2007), directive 2011/65/EU on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (2011) and directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment (2012) have a great impact on new investments in coating equipment. Electroplating, the conventional way of hardening substrates, will have to change into environmentally friendlier and healthier alternatives. Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) coatings is one of those alternatives. Because the coatings are deposited in a vacuum chamber, the technology is clean and without risks.

More and more manufacturers in the jewellery and eyewear industry initiate the search for alternative technologies that will safeguard their markets.

Alternative alla placcatura su plastica

Alternatives Plating on Plastics Ideally the industry wants to use plastics and still retain a shiny metallic look. What are the options? Electroplating is traditionally the deposition of a copper-nickel-chromium layer with a thickness of about 30 µm and a typical hardness of up to 600 HV. If the industry is serious about getting away from plating because of its carcinogenic nature, it should critically judge how important is to maintain such hardness for products that do not have to withstand rough weather conditions. Electroplating also levels the plastic substrate to ensure the surface will be smooth and the colour will be bright and shiny. PVD coatings have no levelling capacity, the coating will always exactly follow the substrate material. A possibility is leveling by a primer base coat before depositing the PVD coating. Using the traditional method, a UV thermal topcoat is necessary to obtain a good coating system.

An alternative is Cromatipic®, an environmentally-friendly technology that does not need a topcoat. Due to only two layers, the yield will be maximized. The coating is applicable on aluminium alloys and a wide variety of plastics and results in hardness of 500 HV. Cromatipic® is available in the colours bright chrome and satin chrome and can be finished with a hydrophobic silicon oxide (SiOx) coating.

Idealmente l’industria vuole usare la plastica e conservare al tempo stesso un aspetto metallico brillante. Quali sono le opzioni? La galvanizzazione è tradizionalmente la deposizione di uno strato di rame-nichel-cromo con uno spessore di circa 30 micron e una durezza tipica fino a 600 HV. Se l’industria è seriamente intenzionata a rinunciare alla placcatura per la sua natura cancerogena, dovrebbe valutare criticamente quanto sia importante mantenere tale durezza per i prodotti che non devono resistere a condizioni ambientali avverse.

La galvanizzazione livella il substrato in plastica rendendo la superficie liscia e il colore lucido e brillante. La Deposizione Fisica da Vapore non ha capacità di livellamento, il rivestimento seguirà quindi sempre la superficie del materiale del substrato. Una possibilità è livellare con una mano di fondo il substrato prima di depositare il rivestimento PVD. Utilizzando il metodo tradizionale, sarà necessaria una mano di finitura termica UV per ottenere un buon rivestimento. Una valida alternativa è Cromatipic®, una tecnologia eco-compatibile che non necessita della mano di finitura. Grazie ai soli due strati, il rendimento sarà ottimizzato. Questo rivestimento è applicabile su leghe di alluminio e a una grande varietà di materie plastiche e permette di ottenere una durezza di 500 HV. Cromatipic® è disponibile nei colori cromo lucido e cromo satinato e può essere rifinito con un ossido di silicio idrofobico (SiOx).

Colori scuri I consumatori amano i colori scuri e brillanti, come nero, cromo scuro, antracite o bronzo lucidato a olio. Tutti questi

colori possono essere ottenuti tramite i rivestimenti PVD. I colori antracite e nero possono essere ottenuti con la tecnica Diamond like carbon (DLC) a polverizzazione catodica o a deposizione chimica da vapore assistita da plasma (PACVD).

La polverizzazione TiCN è un’altra possibilità. La maggior parte dei colori saranno ottenuti con rivestimenti metallici di nitruro di carbonio, in cui il metallo può essere Cr, Zr, Ti o alcuni tipi di leghe. E, naturalmente, la riproducibilità di questi colori è possibile mediante PVD. Strati Idrofobi La resistenza ai graffi è sempre stata un ragione importante per il rivestimento con strati decorativi PVD, ma c’è anche qualcosa di simile alla percezione dei graffi. Quando un rivestimento PVD, che da un certo colore a un prodotto, è completato da uno strato di finitura trasparente con la tecnologia PECVD, questo strato di finitura assicura che i graffi saranno meno visibili e la superficie più facile da pulire. La mano di finitura è depositata mediante PECVD utilizzando un precursore HMDSO. Il rivestimento con ossido di silicio (SiOx) ha una bassa energia di superficie che porta a forti proprietà idrofobiche e suoi angoli di contatto superano i 90 gradi come visibile in figura 1.

Ossido di Alluminio Gioielli, occhiali e moda, parole che vanno di pari passo. Le industrie di gioielli, orologi e occhiali seguono molto la moda, il che significa che i colori, le geometrie e gli stili dureranno solo fino a che la tendenza successiva diventa visibile. Per questi settori, ottone, zama e altri materiali di base hanno bisogno di proprietà di protezione dal nichel e dalla corrosione. Gli strati di ossido di alluminio possono fornire una barriera al nichel e resistenza alla corrosione, mentre i colori dei rivestimenti PVD applicati su questo strato trasparente di finitura possono essere un fattore distintivo. Nella figura 2 la gamma di colori può essere visto nello spettro L*a*b*.

solutions to produce anthracite and black-like colours. Sputtered TiCN is also a possibility. Most colours will be made by metal carbon nitride coatings, in which the metal can be Cr, Zr, Ti or some kinds of alloys. And of course reproducibility of these colours is possible by PVD. Hydrophobic Layers Scratch resistance has always been an important reason for coating with decorative PVD layers, but there is also something like perception of scratches. When a PVD coating, giving a product a certain colour, is complemented with a transparent top layer by PACVD technology, this top layer ensures that the scratches will be less visible and the surface will be easier to clean. The topcoat is deposited by PACVD using an HMDSO precursor. The silicon oxide (SiOx) coating has a low surface energy leading to strong hydrophobic properties and its contact angles exceed 90 degrees as can be seen in figure 1.

The jewellery, watch and eyewear industries are very fashionable, which means that colours, geometries and styles will last only so long before the next trend becomes visible. For these industries, brass, zamak and other base materials need nickel and corrosion protection properties. Aluminium Oxide layers can provide a nickel barrier and corrosion resistance, while op top of this transparent layer the colours of PVD coatings can be a distinguishing factor. In figure 2 the range of colours can be seen in L*a*b* spectrum.

Forzati da fattori economici e dalla globalizzazione, vi è ora la necessità di aumentare il ciclo di vita di molti prodotti. In pratica questo significa che i prodotti diventeranno sempre più standardizzati, i volumi aumentano e prodotti saranno riutilizzati. I rivestimenti PVD possono aggiungere funzionalità ai prodotti, ma questi rivestimenti devono essere prodotti in massa per rimanere economici. La produzione in linea è la risposta di Hauzer a questa tendenza. Metalliner® è una piattaforma di produzione in linea adatta per molti prodotti e tipi di rivestimenti differenti. Il primo Metalliner® sul mercato è costituito da dieci sezioni e ha un’enorme produttività, ma anche le versioni più piccole hanno successo. Anche con solo tre camere Metalliner® aumenterà sostanzialmente la produttività rispetto alla produzione in serie e dà la possibilità di integrare la macchina in un impianto di produzione completamente automatizzato.

Forced by economic factors and globalization, there is a need to increase the product life cycle of many products. In practice this means that products will become more and more standardized, volumes increase and products will be reused.

PVD coatings can add functionalities to the products, but these coatings need to be mass produced to remain economical. Inline production is Hauzer’s answer to this trend.

The Metalliner® is an inline production platform suitable for many different products and types of coatings. The first Metalliner® in the market consists of ten chambers and has a huge productivity, but smaller versions are popular as well.

With as little as three chambers the Metalliner® will increase productivity substantially compared to batch production and it gives the possibility to integrate the machine into a fully automated production plant.

Inoltre, i mercati dei rivestimenti decorativi sono guidati dalla produttività e la necessità di automazione.

In decorative coating markets the trends are driven by the need for healthy and environmentally friendly production methods as well as by fashion. Bright, attractive colours will always remain an important feature of PVD coatings in these markets. Furthermore the markets for decorative coatings are driven by productivity and the need for automation.

Quando abbiamo cominciato a pensare al nuovo progetto TWIN, avevamo due obiettivi in mente: creare un iniettore in cera che andasse ad aumentare non solo la produttività delle aziende ma anche la qualità dei pezzi iniettati.

Per fare questo abbiamo radicalmente cambiato l’approccio al processo di iniezione; non più un singolo sistema di iniezione che inietta un solo stampo alla volta, come negli iniettori tradizionali, ma un nuovo sistema di iniezione in parallelo capace di iniettare contemporaneamente da due direzioni, in una sola parola: TWIN! Questo nuovo approccio crea un notevole vantaggio in termini di produttività: se si utilizzano speciali stampi siliconici doppi, cioè con un sistema di alimentazione a doppi canali, con una singola operazione di carico/scarico di uno stampo si ottengono non più 1, ma 2 pezzi iniettati contemporaneamente. Siamo andati a concretizzare questo vantaggio calcolando la produttività ipotetica in termini di numero di pezzi iniettati al giorno; i risultati sono stati a dir poco stupefacenti: con il nuovo iniettore TWIN si riescono ad ottenere il doppio di pezzi iniettati rispetto ad un iniettore in cera tradizionale a singola postazione!

When we started thinking about the new TWIN project, we wanted to achieve two goals: we wanted to create a wax injector that could increase productivity but at the same time also increase the quality of casted pieces.

In order to do that, we radically changed the approach to the injection process; not just an injection system which injects one mold at time, as the in the traditional wax injectors, but a new parallel injection system that can inject in two directions simultaneously, in simple words: TWIN! This new approach generates great advantages in productivity terms: when using special “twin” molds (molds with double injection channels) with a single mold loading/unloading operation, we can obtain not just 1, but 2 casted pieces at the same time. We calculate the productivity by looking at the hypothetical injected pieces/ day; results are stunning: with the new TWIN injector we can obtain the double of injected pieces with respect to a traditional wax injector with a single working station!

Not only: we could verify that the increase in productivity does not come at the expense of an increase in productional costs,: with Riacetech TWIN you save up to 50% of productional costs!

Non solo: abbiamo potuto verificare che l’aumento di produttività non va a discapito di un aumento dei costi produttivi, anzi: con Riacetech TWIN si ha un risparmio fino al 50% dei costi di produzione!

La particolare geometria dell’iniettore fa si che si abbiano vantaggi notevoli anche in ambito qualitativo: il nuovo sistema pinza TWIN riesce ad impartire allo stampo una pressione più omogenea su tutta la superficie e questo fa si che si possano iniettare stampi di notevole larghezza e di geometria complessa senza sbavature o difetti di riempimento. Questo porta anche ad un notevole miglioramento in termini di ripetibilità in peso rispetto ai tradizionali iniettori.

Ma con il nuovo iniettore TWIN siamo andati anche oltre! Sfruttando la doppia iniezione, si possono iniettare anche singoli pattern alimentati da due canali: questo fa si che se abbiamo pezzi grandi e filigranati, impossibili da realizzare con un iniettore tradizionale per problemi di mancato riempimento, con la nuova TWIN non sono più un problema, perché l’apporto di cera per il singolo pezzo arriva non più da una, ma bensì da due direzioni.

TWIN: il nuovo iniettore che rivoluziona il tradizionale processo di iniezione…maggiore produttività e massima qualità!!

The particular geometry of this injector allows amazing advantages also in quality terms: the new TWIN clamp system is able to impart to the mold a more uniform pressure all over the entire mold surface and this allows to inject molds of considerable width and of complex geometry without flashes or uncomplete fillings. This also leads to a considerable improvement in terms of repeatability in weight compared to traditional injectors.

With the new injector TWIN we went even further! Taking advantage of the double injection, we were able to inject also single patterns fed by two channels. This means that if you have large filigrees, impossible to complete with a traditional injector for problems of uncomplete filling, with the new TWIN are no longer a problem, because the piece is fed with wax no more from one, but from two directions simultaneously.

Il sistema ha un laser a 200 Watt che, grazie alla qualità del suo raggio ed alla stabilità nelle prestazioni, assicura delle ottime e consistenti condizioni di processo, che risultano in una qualità finale facilmente riproducibile.

Questa caratteristica, insieme ad un punto laser con una eccellente risoluzione di dettaglio, rende possibile la produzione di componenti complessi, di elevata complessità, qualità e delicatezza.

Il sistema, inoltre, reduce i periodi di non produttività e contribuisce alla produzione efficiente di piccoli quantitativi. Grazie alla sua struttura modulare interna, il sistema può essere velocemente preparato e smontato, cosi come i materiali possono essere facilmente sostituiti e le attività di manutenzione condotte rapidamente.

Michael Keane, Manager of Technical Process Development at pilot customer Boston Scientific, adds: “The EOS M100 adds to our portfolio of Metal Additive development systems and equipment. We have found the ease of material handling and component change overs very beneficial.” The system features a 200-Watt fiber laser, which due to of its beam quality and performance stability ensures optimum and consistent processing conditions, resulting in reproducible parts qualities. This feature, plus a smaller laser spot with excellent detail resolution, makes it possible to produce high-quality, highly-complex and delicate components on the EOS M 100 system.

Nel gennaio 2016 FEIN e Bosch, leader mondiali degli utensili ad oscillazione, introdurranno sul mercato un attacco portautensile sviluppato insieme per questo tipo di elettroutensili: il sistema d’attacco Starlock.

Grazie al loro speciale principio di azionamento gli utensili multifunzione ad oscillazione possono essere impiegati in ogni situazione e sono molto apprezzati in tutto il mondo: con il movimento oscillante azionano ogni accessorio per operazioni di taglio, levigatura, raschiatura e lucidatura.

Lavorano però in modo affidabile ed economicamente conveniente solo se la potenza del motore viene trasmessa, possibilmente senza gioco, sulla lama da taglio o sul platorello. Per questo motivo l’attacco portautensile svolge un ruolo decisivo per garantire un’elevata velocità di lavorazione e ottenere risultati precisi. “Attualmente si trovano sul mercato numerosi sistemi portautensile per utensili ad oscillazione.

L’offerta dei diversi produttori

è talmente vasta che è quasi impossibile avere una visione globale”, afferma Willi Fellmann, responsabile del progetto di collaborazione alla Bosch. “Inoltre, gli utilizzatori devono tener conto di perdite di potenza se utilizzano un adattatore. È qui che si colloca il nuovo attacco portautensile Starlock: FEIN e Bosch definiscono con questo attacco uno standard comune e assicurano una trasmissione massima della forza”.

L’attacco Starlock brevettato lavora in modo affidabile con gli elettroutensili ad oscillazione FEIN e Bosch ed anche con utensili di altri produttori con attacco a dodici punti.

L’accessorio è pertanto compatibile con la maggior parte delle macchine disponibili sul mercato.

FEIN e Bosch offrono tre classi di potenza: Starlock, StarlockPlus e StarlockMax.

The joint venture aims to offer users one common standard and even better performance in the form of faster work progress and more precise results.

The unique motion of oscillating multi-function tools means they can be used in a wide range of applications; the technology is now globally accepted as a standard way of working. Thanks to their oscillating movement, they can be used to drive accessories for sawing, sanding, scraping and polishing. But they only work reliably and economically if the motor’s power is transferred to the saw blade or backing pad with as much contact as possible. Therefore, the way the tool is mounted is crucial to rapid work progress and precise results. “These days the-

re are numerous mounting systems available for oscillating power tools. The number of products from different manufacturers is confusing,” says Willi Fellmann, responsible for the joint venture project at Bosch. “Users also have to accept reduced performance when using an adapter. This is where the new Starlock tool mounting comes in. FEIN and Bosch are establishing one common standard and ensuing maximum power transmission”.

The patented Starlock mounting works reliably with oscillating power tools from FEIN and Bosch and tools with a twelve-point mounting from other manufacturers.

This makes the accessories compatible with most tools on the market.

Accessories with the Starlock tool mounting will be available from January 2016 under the FEIN and Bosch brands.

FEIN and Bosch are offering three performance classes: Starlock, StarlockPlus and StarlockMax.
