In quantitative sur veys there always remains the possibility of statistical error, which must be taken into account when interpreting data. E. g., if 29,6% out of 1,011 respondents say they know or have heard of development cooperation, then there is a 95% probability that the actual number is somewhere between 26,8% and 32,4%.
As the number of analysed responses decreases, the exactitude of estimate also decreases. The following is a table that helps to assess statistical error.
