The Lighthouse Commercial Church Theatre Extension, built around the theme of ‘Involving Light’ in the architecture

Camberwell’s Light ’The historic Camberwell Church Theatre, once a single-screen movie theatre, has always used ‘light’ as a key element to attract audiences and performers. Now under private ownership, to sustain the Theatre’s Business and the ongoing local community demands, the theater is undergoing a dramatic renovation to recapture its former charm, with a focus on architectural lighting The Newer Light-themed Architecture is a metaphor for the Building’s actual name ‘The Lighthouse’.

Access , Built-form Existing -Centralized Singular Program

Visual obstruction from the proposed cube structure led to a curved facade design. This unique form respects neighbors' views, invites entry, and complies with regulations.

The Existing Structure comprises single, large Mono-Function rooms for gatherers of the Church and an additional kitchenette to serve people in the front, which is not a sustainable activity in the long run for the events hosted inside the Theatre.

Architecture guided by the ‘Light’ Proposed - Diversified Distribution of Programs The Proposed Structure comprises to propose large spread Activities with a hierarchical program distribution in terms of Decentralizing people for their purpose of Visit thereby contributing to a more viable ROI for the Investment

The design prioritizes natural light, strategically channeling it into key program areas where illumination is crucial. Three large glass windows at the front showcase these vibrant spaces, inviting passersby to witness the captivating events happening inside. Additionally, the lower front of the structure features large openings that complement the curved form, guiding pedestrians with a gentle glow.

Program Distribution The lower level houses commercial spaces, including a cafe and event hosting areas accessible to the public. Above, private functional spaces cater to occasional gatherings within the church group.

To maximize the street's commercial appeal, the rooftop features a private wedding event space and a dedicated office for the church organization.

This project seeks to create a harmonious "rangers house" neighbourhood that complements the surrounding environment.

This Rye Lane project is a modern residential studio apartment blending seamlessly with the historic red brick street. The existing facade is preserved, but the primary front window areas boast a "protruded Flemish Brick pattern" for a touch of contemporary texture. A top-hung window and Juliet balcony add sleek lines and outdoor space, ensuring both modern aesthetics and a connection to the street.

Bold Built massing To connect the spirit of modernist architecture a non-structural suspended column was introduced with exposed stonework to show the bold built mass structurally and metaphorically and Kinetic façade louvers assist in providing light, shade, and ventilation to the pillars of tropical modernist architecture

When the groups get bigger over the period of time in day/month/year the same private owned space can be multiplied by another pods and in by that the atrium space can be enclosed by the kinetic panels

Vondelpark’s tradition of sustainability in an urban infrastructure allows people to get inside it and enjoy it walking around all of its vast 47 acres and its other features and it’s beauty within it through different sets of experiences and not as a whole.

So, in order to achieve kinetics for people to cycle through the pavilion electric rotors are attached to the platforms one above the other powered by solar energy these rotors rotate the intermediary arcs in each platform counter-clockwise direction to guide the flow of people traffic and make them to achieve the every nook and corner in the Vondelpark as a complete immersive experience in a static position.

The surrounding environment deserves as the best landscapes ever to be in this world and to taste that people from all over the world visits to enjoy his/her and to regulate them and also provide them a mutual attachment to the nature they have to be cycled and transported along with the hosted activity as a initiative to bond them with the park.

So, each of the platforms has viewing spaces of 40 square meters in area that’s 160 for the four of them and a central vertical core of 40.
