The new logo for Varndean School.
It is based on the original dolphin element of the school logo, which in turn has borrowed from the heraldic crest of Brighton, dating back to the 1700s.
The new logo reflects the fact the school has divided into four smaller schools.
Each colour represents the colour of one of the four new schools - Angelou, Russell, Turing and Ellis.
The aim is convey the idea of four schools in one, together with progressive forward looking attitudes towards education.
If seen as an overhead shot, the logo also mimics a laurel wreath, traditionally given to scholars for academic excellence.
