Help Desk

Since January 2022, the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber has received 31 queries through its Help Desk, from various member companies who have requested the Chamber’s intervention to resolve them. The bulk of the queries relates to service delivery issues due to ongoing challenges within the Municipality. Some of the queries relate to incorrect municipal billing, road maintenance, sewerage spills, water leaks, illegal dumping, low water pressure, water quality, exports, homeless people squatting, malfunctioning streetlights, WULA and petroleum licenses, including data on statistics. The Chamber has set up a dedicated Help Desk to assist members with any obstacles they encounter with respect to ease of doing business.

Business Intelligence

The Business Chamber has an in-house cluster research unit which is mandated with identifying catalytic projects that can contribute to the development of key sectors. It provides a library of business intelligence and insight for the development of essential clusters.

Smme And Entrepreneurship Desk

The E-Desk is dedicated to promoting economic development through the provision of support to Small Medium and Micro Enterprises in the Metro. The E-Desk offers the following services Enterprise Development, access to funding opportunities, access to markets, advisory support/help desk, access to business intelligence, tender documentation support, mentoring programme, access to skills development and training, webinars and topics of interest to SMMEs and exposure linkages.

Empowerment Circle

Mentorship Circle: The mentorship programme supports and empowers individuals within the business landscape of the Nelson Mandela Bay region. This programme offers mentees oneon-one sessions with a mentor over a period of three months. Within this programme the mentor provides guidance and motivation to mentees seeking to establish themselves within the business fraternity, in addition to this SMMEs have been identified as one of the key targets of this programme as they are a cornerstone for economic growth.

Women’s Circle: The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber recently held its inaugural meeting on 01 March 2022 to kickstart its Women’s Circle programme, which is sponsored by First National Bank. The Women’s Circle aims to empower and further develop women in business through lobbying efforts, conversations and networking opportunities. Through these initiatives, the Women’s Circle will provide a platform wherein individuals can access business opportunities through networking and address topical issues for women in the business landscape.

Chamber Clusters

Connect Circle: The connect circle is aimed to provide a platform for Business Chamber associates to engage and network. The connect circle will offer industry and sector focused events that unpack strategies and/or catalytic projects that aim to contribute to the economic development of the Metro. Not limited to sector focused events this will also extend to events such as a New Members welcome, Coffee Connect sessions and Speed-Networking sessions.

The cluster is a voluntary formation of businesses, established in order to broaden and strengthen the capabilities in their operational environment and to address issues of common interest.
