On June 27, 2024, Variety Care proudly participated in the largest coordinated National HIV Testing Day event. This significant event was held in collaboration with Walgreens and Greater Than HIV, a public information initiative of KFF

As part of this nationwide effort, free rapid HIV testing was offered at more than 550 Walgreens locations, including Walgreens #4098 at 5120 North May Avenue in Oklahoma City Variety Care's involvement in this initiative demonstrated our commitment to raising awareness and promoting health education within our community

Our collective efforts made a meaningful impact in encouraging HIV testing and awareness, showcasing the importance of early detection and prevention. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all staff members who contributed to the success of this event. Together, we continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped with the event for National HIV Testing Day. Chuck and Lourdes thank you for taking on the heavy task of testing the clients. Fidel and Camden thank you for setting up everything and for tabling the event and engaging the community as they came through the door.

OKC Tax Help Assists 64 Families

OKC Tax Help assisted 64 families through Variety Care in the 2023 tax season, significantly increasing returns, client connections, EIC, childcare credits, and total refunds. The primary tax filing location was at Lafayette, with additional support at the Britton location on Fridays. This comprehensive coverage ensured more families could access the tax help they needed.

One client expressed their gratitude, saying, “You did my taxes last year, you did them this year and you will do them next year! Thank you for assisting us with this great tax program. It makes a difference!”

Coordinating Quality Improvement

with KC Chansombat

At Variety Care, quality is a continuous journey led by dedicated professionals like KC Chansombat. As the Quality Improvement Coordinator, KC enhances the healthcare services provided by our community health center. With over 15 years of experience, KC brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for preventive care that drives her commitment to excellence.

KC's healthcare journey began as a nursing assistant and evolved through various roles, leading her to population health coordination and, ultimately, Variety Care. In her current position, KC ensures the health center meets quality measures and preventive screening goals. She analyzes data, collaborates with providers, and addresses care gaps to ensure accurate documentation and improved patient outcomes.

Retention and training of clinical staff are significant challenges. KC addresses these by reiterating key information in monthly meetings and providing ongoing support. Her dedication has led to notable achievements, such as increasing colorectal cancer screenings from 26% to nearly 40%.

Her long-term vision includes maintaining robust data hygiene and fostering greater staff engagement and trust.

KC Chansombat's work is vital to Variety Care's mission of providing high-quality healthcare to our community. Her dedication and expertise inspire us all to strive for excellence in every aspect of our work.
