Gabriela Gallardo Reyes Community Health Worker, PAC

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for Gaby's incredible support. When our grant writer needed to find at least two patients who had avoided the emergency room thanks to Variety Care, Gaby went above and beyond. She personally visited a patient’s home the very same day to assist with sharing her story. Not only did Gaby manage to gather a signed letter from the patient, but she also provided invaluable help in crafting the letter.

Variety Care recently hosted Dr. Kyu Rhee, the president and CEO of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), and his team.

Dr. Rhee visited Variety Care Straka, where he and his team met a few of our committed VC Care Team members. They received an update on how Variety Care is meeting the community health center mission in Oklahoma, of being the provider of choice, the employer of choice and the partner of choice.

As a community health center, we rely on federal malpractice coverage through the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), which requires us to meet specific guidelines. This year, the mandatory training for everyone who interacts with women of reproductive age is crucial to maintain our coverage.

Training began on Sept. 17, and it’s important for all selected staff to participate. If you're uncertain about your participation, ask your clinic leadership for clarification. You should also look out for an email from Communications with instructions on completing the "Implicit Bias in Women’s Health" training.

Please complete this training by Oct. 31, 2024.

The fentanyl crisis continues to impact lives across our community, and KFOR’s special, “Saving a Generation: The Fentanyl Crisis,” will shine a light on this urgent public health challenge. Variety Care and NorthCare are honored to contribute to this important discussion.

As part of the special, staff, patients, and providers from both organizations will share their firsthand experiences with the crisis and the vital role our services play in addressing it. We will also be discussing the treatment options available through Variety Care and NorthCare, which include access to life-saving medications like Narcan, as well as comprehensive addiction and behavioral health services.

At a time when swift action and support are essential, we are dedicated to offering resources that can help prevent overdose deaths and provide a pathway to recovery for individuals and families affected by fentanyl.

When to Watch:

KAUT/CW43: Monday, September 30th at 8:00 PM

KFOR: Friday, October 4th at 7:00 PM

Tune in to hear more about how Variety Care and NorthCare are responding to the fentanyl crisis and offering hope through treatment and support.
