Sixth Grade by Aden Eshetu I am so excited about sixth grade. I am going to explore the school and find out where every single class is. I have four classes instead of sitting in the one class all day. In those classes/periods, the people in them change and I will be able to see my friends. I am also excited about sixth grade because I have Mrs. S Coleman as my teacher and I love her. She is so funny, nice and strict all at the same time. Some of my excitement about sixth grade is learning to play an instrument, having fun moments and memories, and going to all my classes meeting new people.. My fears in sixth grade are getting bullied, getting a “C” on my report card, and getting in trouble a lot. My goals in sixth grade is to get straight A’s in both of the semesters and become an un-distractible student, have more confidence, and most importantly to have fun while learning something new. Six grade is going to be so much fun!

It all started when you heard it on the news. You were sitting down just eating breakfast when you heard its name. If that didn’t happen, maybe a close friend, told you. It wasn’t something started by a wild monkey outbreak. You know its name: Ebola. Ebola virus disease (or EVD), Ebola hemorrhagic fever (or EHF) or simply Ebola, is a disease of human beings and other primates. It spreads by direct contact through blood or other body fluids in a person or animal. The original carrier of Ebola is the African fruit bat, as they can spread the virus without being affected by it themselves. A person catches it by the contact of a bat, or with a living/ dead person infected by bats. It does not spread by the air, water, or in general, food. No evidence that it spreads through mosquitoes has been found by researchers. Ebola has symptoms such as fever; vomiting, abdominal (stomach) pain, and weakness are a few symptoms. Fatigue (lacking energy and motivation), muscle pain, unexplainable bleeding and severe headaches are others. Symptoms may appear between 2 to 21 days after Ebola exposure, or at least 3 weeks. To doctors, diagnosing a patient with the virus is difficult because its symptoms (like the headaches) are nonspecific to Ebola infection. There is no approved vaccine available to treat it, but there are ways to prevent it. For instance: wash your hands with soap or alcohol based hand sanitizer. Avoid funeral or burial rituals that hold the body for someone infected of Ebola. Always avoid contact with body fluids!
