Nació en Guadalajara Jalisco, México. Radica en la frontera entre San Diego y Tijuana.

Considerado uno de los artistas jóvenes reconocidos no solo en el área fronteriza, sino de manera internacional, es uno de los principales promotores del desarrollo artístico en varias comunidades al sur de california, EUA y de algunas localidades internacionales como, Argentina, México, El Salvador, Perú, Brasil, Europa y Medio Oriente.

Born in Guadalajara Jalisco, México & living in the border between California and Baja California, he’s considered one of the young artists recognized not only in the border area, but on an international basis, is one of the main promoters of artistic development in several communities in Southern California, USA and some international locations as Argentina, Mexico, El Salvador , Peru, Brazil, Spain and the Middle East.

Teniendo más de 15 años de trayectoria Artística y Promotor Cultural A lo largo de su carrera ha logrado participar en más de 450 exposiciones Nacionales e Internacionales. Y más de 80 Festivales Culturales, apoyando con exposiciones de Arte en la Frontera México Estados Unidos.

Mi trabajo, como el arte después de estudiarlo es algo entendido como una actividad o producto realizado por el ser humano que puede ser estético o comunicativo, si lo veo como parte de oficio o labor con el cual he vivido por más de 15 años, ves que a través de eso expresas ideas, emociones, una visión del mundo y para el mundo, llenas de alegrías y cosas inusuales!!!

En ese sentido, es la capacidad, habilidad, talento, experiencia, emoción, amor a mi hijo, mi vida y a miles de cosas más, que podría decir, es un medio de expresión humano, creativo, sentimental, con el cual he llegado a crear un mundo hermoso, lleno de ideas y sueños. Un componente de la cultura, la transmisión de ideas y valores, inherentes a cualquier cultura humana a lo largo del espacio, tiempo y lugar, desde política, religiosa, social, etc... Y aunque el arte continúa hoy día sujeta a profundas polémicas, dado que su definición está abierta a múltiples interpretaciones, que varían según la cultura, la época, el movimiento, o la sociedad, para la cual el término tiene un determinado sentido y diferente para muchas personas dependiendo de sus raíces y costumbres.

Todo ha ido Evolucionando, como mi trabajo, vivir en la frontera entre dos culturas y aprender de ellas me ha hecho representar escenas diferentes y han ido cambiando y transformando prácticamente a algo más abstracto a algo surreal, haciendo las cosas únicas y enseñándole a la gente que vea lo que lo que pienso, lo que sueño, quiero motivar a la gente a que use la imaginación y sueñe también. He tenido muchas influencias de pintores reconocidos ya fallecidos y sus dramáticas historias, que me hacen ver la vida de diferente manera y pensar en la fuerza que la vida te da. Y es así como empiezo a crear piezas y sus historias detrás de ellas. Entre mis travesías y mis anécdotas, quiero hacer que viajen y se deleiten visualmente, de música, color y figuras, buscando los detalles que salen de mi alma.

Y eso es para mí el arte, o el arte en el que vivo.

A PERSONAL TOUCH by Claudia Lugo (Long Beach) If ever there was a marriage of labor and love, Enrique Chiu has found the formula.

Both practical and passionate, Chiu’s life-long experience with the commercial arts spills over to his creative endeavors so smoothly that neither usurps his loyalty more than the other. With graphic design as his introduction to the arts, his approach to the canvas is informed by pure colors, broad lines, and stylized figures. Chiu’s style is easily identifiable. Some signature recurrences are the use of a guitar, and of musical notes that can usually be found either in the foreground or cleverly implied in the background. All other figures usually revolve around this central theme, and carry the very vibration of music and a festive atmosphere.

On a lifted plane, people dance, musicians play their instruments, women move suggestively, and sound becomes tangible. Suddenly, the concrete and the emotive share a space. A hand reaches out and can touch the waves of music. Two worlds

collide in a pandemonium of color and movement. The lines with which Chiu encases his subjects are emotively drawn. Brushstrokes move quickly, gestures are documented, and colors overlap instead of bleeding into each other. Arms are curved, defying anatomic accuracy, fingers open like fans, and faces are simplified to their most economic expression. There is an abundance of movement in Chiu’s work, and the waves seem to want to fall right off the canvas. Though he has matured a particular signature, there is a progression waiting to come from it and on to other ventures. One can see that it is fermenting, that certain strokes have begun to hint at a different sensuality. The anticipation of work to come might delve into other techniques, but Chiu states, adamantly, that his work will always have the same flavor. This is what he is familiar with, this is what “feels right� and it is not produced with a commercial intent, but simply as a mode of expression. That his work has sold well is happenstance, and he is always the first to be surprised at the interest in what came of a moment of inspiration

Cultural journey by suzy castro (los angeles) Enrique chiu takes you on a cultural journey that stems from his heart to his paintings reflecting his past experiences and rich upbringing. Fortunate to have lived in guadalajara, mexico surrounded by endless folklore, music, indiginous culture and most important a city full of life.

Enrique attended the university where he majored in design and visual arts. It was at the university where his future was ignited and his artistic passion for painting and design developed.

Influenced by the fusion of his chinese and mexican roots his paintings convey rich colors with exotic whimsical brushstrokes that leave a harmonizing impression of love, culture, and passion.

In them, you will find his love for the sensual figure of the guitar that expresses the vibration of music and romance. Enrique’s paintings are a poem of life projecting the love, pain, and bliss that we feel and can relate to our everyday lives.
