"Truth Beneath a Confession" is the exhibition proposal conceived by curator, Vanini Belarmino in collaboration with Filipino artist, Mark Justiniani, and the exhibition design team, WY-TO for the Philippine Pavilion for the 58th Venice Biennale 2019. It reached the second place in the jury selection.
"Truth Beneath a Confession" is an invitation for individuals to voluntarily seek out truths, while shedding light on the multi-faceted nature of the truths that is both concealed by and revealed through acts of confession. The work, through its use of mirrors, offers the illusions of depth, transference, duplication and cloning--all these helps to allude to the idea that there are many truths presented in a confession. Furthermore, mirrors have a duality: while they can provide a clear reflection, they also have an aptitude for conceit, and can distort.
