A Fashion Preview "A SisStar of Holiness"

We’re going to preview a Designer who, although He uses the same materials over and over again ,designs each outfit as an original for the purchaser. The Designer can promise that if you wear His creation, you will be noticed, talked about, loved, hated, cheered and jeered. He can promise that you will create a sensation wherever you go.

Notice our model, as she comes down the runway. She has been called to Glory and Virtue by the Designer. Our model is wearing the basic suit of FAITH, which has been obtained by the hearing of the word. She has given all diligence to choose her accessories very carefully, according to Designer specifications. She has taken great care to add to her lovely suit of faith, VIRTURE or PRAISES. And to her virtue, she has selected KNOWLEDGE, which certainly complements her very attractive outfit. Adding further to her suit she has put on TEMPERANCE which shows that she knows how to utilize And how to maximize the accessories that she is already wearing.

And notice, if you will, that each accessory that is added highly complements the one to which it is added. And each one shows very distinctly. This is a unique layered look. To temperance, she has selected to add PATIENCE an accessory she tells me has been added as a result of the trying of her faith. To patience, she has chosen to add GODLINESS, which as, we begin to see her lovely outfit near completion, shows us her God-likeness. And if you look very closely, you will the beautiful broach of BROTHERLY KINDNESS that. She wears is so becoming to her entire outfit. And because the outfit would not be complete without it, she has carefully Added CHARITY. The hat that she has selected is a type of headgear called the HELMET OF SALVATION-which allows her protection as well as beauty. She has a lovely vest on under her suit which is called the BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS’ I must say, that this is a most unique outfit! Notice, if you will, her unusually wide belt-a belt of TRUTH, which is arranged skillfully Her lions.

And her shoes! Her shoes are not just plain leather or any exotic reptilian material. Her feet are shod with the GOSPEL OF PEACE. And apparently. The fashion of the day is to carry a handbag on each arm. Our model has selected. One bag which resembles a SWORD, and the other, which appears to be a SHIELD of some sort. Our model says that she is able to quench fiery darts with this lovely accessory, and to protect herself with the other. Very functional, as well as lovely. And, as you will notice now, she is pulling on her outer garment. I’m trying to detect if it’s mink or ermine; or is it fox , or sable? No, friends- it’s a gorgeous garment that is much better and more exquisite than any fur, and much more costly. It’s a full-length ROBE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. Her makeup, which is so crucial to the completion of this entire outfit is applied flawlessly and matches her skin tone to perfection. The shade of her makeup is called MEEKNESS, and her lip gloss, which is a very subdued tone, (rather than the red-reds that are so popular today), is very appropriate to its name, and suits our model perfectly. It is called QUIETNESS.

And not only does our model look good, but she has on a delectable perfume, chosen for its rarity. It is a fragrance that is unequaled-it is the fragrance of HOLINESS.

Don’t you agree that our model is outstanding, and her outfit can be worn at any time to any event, in any season? It can be worn throughout the ages and never go out of style. And now, friends, I have been informed that the Designer is here in our midst. The Designer who makes unique originals-and who charges no money for His creative designs. This beautiful outfit can be had by all who come to Him. You will never see yourself duplicated, even though thousands upon thousands may be wearing the same design.

WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST JESUS Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:” One of the problems with Christians is that they do not know who they are in Christ Jesus. The enemy wants you to look at yourself through your own eyes, or the eyes of someone else – but God wants you to look at yourself based on His evaluation. He thinks differently of you than you do of yourself. When your assessment of self is different than what the Word says, then you must change that assessment, and begin to look at self through the eyes of the Truth. If you are a Christian, then the first thing that you need to realize is the Truth of II Corinthians 5:17: Read and write II Corinthians 5:17: You are no longer who you were, but now you are who God says you ARE. Everything that was a part of your old life – those sins, those disappointments, those things that were done to you that have been causing you pain, things that others said about you, the abuse that you may have suffered – all of that is in the past. Those things do not dictate who you are, nor how you respond. It might have been that way then, but since you are a Christian, you are on a different road.

Read and write Isaiah 35:8 You don’t have to be in a place of shame any longer because you have been delivered out of the place of darkness, into the Kingdom of God. You are no longer a person of shame, but you are a child of God. You have been forgiven, and you are precious in His sight, and He considers you a jewel of great price.

Read and write Colossians 1:13-14 You are who God says you are – and not who you or anyone else says you are. If what you think about yourself does not agree with the Word of God, then get rid of those misbeliefs in your mind, and focus on what the Word of God says. Your past is in the past – it is dead and buried.

Don’t keep resurrecting the things that are dead. Let them stay buried – and go on with your life.

You have made a 180-degree turnabout. You are going another direction – the direction which leads to Heaven. Don’t allow the enemy to keep you focused on the past. God knows everything that you have ever done, or thought about doing. He knows what you will do in the future. God knows you – for He created you. The enemy doesn’t know you. He only knows what you have done in the past, and that is the enemy’s trick – to keep you focused on those past events. Don’t continue to let your present be dictated by your past. Defeat the enemy, and begin to live the abundant life in Jesus. Know your position, and know who you are in Him. Know the Truth about yourself. If you CONTINUE in the Truth of the Word, THEN you will know the Truth and that truth will make you free.

DEVELOPING POSITIVE SELF-ESTEEM Feeling good about yourself is essential to becoming healthy and productive. How you feel about yourself will either cause you to be depressed or will cause you have to have an upward focus. The key to building healthy self-esteem is positive thinking to change negative behavior.

What you THINK about yourself is how you will act. All behavior, whether positive or negative, begins in the mind. Your body does what your mind tells it to do.

Figure out what your problem is. Realize that your problem is not who you are. Your issues do not determine your self-worth.

Figure out who you are. Don’t identify who you are with what your issues might be. Look for solutions to issues that are troubling.

Developing Positive Self-Esteem Action Steps 1. Decide what you can and cannot control. Change and act on the things that are in your control and release the things that are out of your control.

2. Accept responsibility for what you can control.

3. You are not responsible for what others have done.

4. Forget about past issues – they cannot be changed. Don’t let those issues dictate how you feel about yourself.

5. The past does not define you – YOU define YOU. 6. Don’t let anxiety about issues make you lose your focus.

7. Recognize that mistakes you have made can be stepping stones that you can use to go forward.

8. Understand that things done to you by others cannot hold you back unless you allow them to.

9. Compete to improve yourself and not to beat someone else.

10. Be ambitious. Set goals that are realistic and achievable. What do YOU want to do?

11. Think and speak positively. Stop putting yourself down and stop listening to negative things.

12. Spend time investing in your personal growth. Learn new words – exercise – do something for yourself.

13. Smile outside and inside. Be courteous to yourself and to others.

Developing Positive Self-Esteem Action Steps 14. Don’t be swayed by what you see or hear – especially messages on the media. Their goal is to make you feel badly about yourself so you will buy what they are selling.

15. Journal – everyday, write down something that you are grateful for.

16. Don’t accept messages that have the tendency to damage how you feel about yourself.

17. Be aware of what you tell yourself and if it is negative, turn the volume down and begin to turn up the volume on the positives.

18. Improve the quality of messages about yourself. Any thoughts that take you away from positive feelings are not worth having.

The theory behind What’s Your FLAVA?® is traced back to 450 B.C. Hippocrates, who is considered the “Father of Medicine”, identified that there are four different types of human beings.

During the last century, Carl Jung described personality or temperament differences as a fundamental basis for understanding human beings. His work, Psychological Type, was translated into English in 1923, it had a profound effect on Katherine C. Briggs. As a result, Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs-Myers, developed the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).

The Myers-Briggs theory states that much of the random variation in human behavior is actually quite orderly. In their work, they identified and characterized sixteen (16) different types of people.

In more recent years, David Keirsey has refined the work of Myers-Briggs by classifying temperament or personality into four types. According to Keirsey, these four different types are different in fundamental ways: 1.

They analyze, conceptualize, understand, and learn differently.

So, it’s like trying to talk to someone who speaks a completely different language.

These differences create natural barriers to interpersonal communication. It makes understanding people of different personality types difficult.

Wellness Dimensions Wellness is the pursuit of continued growth and balance in the seven dimensions of wellness. Many people think about "wellness" in terms of physical health only. The word invokes thoughts of nutrition, exercise, weight management, blood pressure, etc. Wellness, however, is much more than physical health. Wellness is a full integration of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It is a complex interaction that leads to quality of life.

Wellness is commonly viewed as having seven dimensions. Each dimension contributes to our own sense of wellness or quality of life, and each affects and overlaps the others. At times one may be more prominent than others, but neglect of any one dimension for any length of time has adverse effects on overall health.

Physical Dimension: Health experts believe that 40-70% of premature deaths in the U.S. could be prevented if Americans

changed their personal habits and took better care of themselves. Watching what we eat, avoiding drugs and alcohol, wearing seat belts, and exercising are great places to start. But, as life gets hectic and stress creeps in, the physical dimension is usually the first to go. We are too busy to exercise, we don't have enough time to eat lunch, we drink too much coffee, and we don't get enough sleep. These are all things that we do that are detrimental to both our physical well-being and other areas of life as well.

Physical wellness encompasses a variety of healthy behaviors including adequate exercise, proper nutrition, and abstaining from harmful habits such as drug use and alcohol abuse. It means learning about and identifying symptoms of disease, getting regular medical checkups, and protecting yourself from injuries and harm.
