Editor’s Note When Lauren Hill sang the ‘Miseducation of Lauren Hill’ in the ‘90s, it was an acknowledgement of a coming to self- realisation of the African American. Under, and after slavery, Africans were second class citizens, with no rights to aspire beyond underlings.

It took hundreds of years to peel off that coating and break through the glass ceiling. Today, an African occupies The Seat of Power in America.

Lauren sings of the potentials embedded in her, which her society had sought to quash with the cultural perception she was born into. This underling perception was once the lot of majority of Akwa Ibomites.

Fifteen years ago, 80% of house helps, cooks and drivers in Nigeria came from that part of the country. Servitude was their ‘God-given’ lot or so it seemed until the revolution which put a halt to that ‘miseducation’.

Today, you will hardly find an Akwa Ibom house help or cook. It took a leader with vision to begin that revolution. When Obong Victor Attah took over at Government House, Uyo, he went about transforming the people and their environment.

Education became free and GCE registration fees paid for all students. Thus began the re-engineering of minds, set free to fly beyond servanthood.

It was this foundation that Governor Godswill Akpabio built on to achieve the success story of the freedom of mind of Ibomites.

Recent revelation on the catwalk shows some key 60s pieces making a come- back.

Not many for example, can forget the mini skirt or the shift dress in a hurry or can you? What a fashion moment they had. Here are some pieces that really stand out some have made a come-back and is being rocked steady.

After years of discovering herself, she picked up her life and gave it to God. She hosted the acclaimed “His Word Made Flesh”, a Christian television programme, for several years before lying low again.

This spirited icon has since delved into the intricate nature of 21st Century Nigerian homes by investigating the details which could help improve daily life in marriage .

As the rate of divorce rises in the country, more and more people are in dire need of being educated on the intricacies involved in such circumstances. This situation prompted this stunning 58 year old to create a new programme called The Udy Factor. In this interview, she talks about her vision for the programme.

What is the essence of The Udy Factor?

The Udy Factor came about as a result of the need to inform, educate and empower Nigerians on topical issues, rights and privileges involving everyday life. Many Nigerians are not well versed with the legal repercussions and/or benefits surrounding marriage, divorce etc. This imperative birthed The Udy Factor, which is aimed at empowering one with information on issues, rights and privileges on delicate topics in our society such as sex, aging gracefully, marriage and the Law. When a couple call it quits, many at times, they don’t know that there is such a thing as alimony.

And, most times, it becomes an impartial situation, not favouring one or both parties. So, the programme empowers viewers with the knowledge they need to fight back and informs them on intricate details for everyday living.

Right now, we have about twenty-two episodes on ground, some of which tackle divorce as well as aging gracefully, on different parts of the body, amongst others.

Who are your target audience?

Everybody. We all work with information and, even if you don’t have use for it at that very moment, at some point in time, you will. And knowing it, one can share that information with some-

one who actually needs it at that point in time.

The theme of the programme is to impact information; so, I hope to reach everyone.

For someone who has watched the programme and needs help, how would you help the person get the needed assistance?

We are in a technologically advanced era where everything goes through the social media.

In this case, we are working hard to create an online presence, where viewers can contribute and share their stories as well as gain advice and help, if possible, from the experts in various fields.

What do you foresee as the future of The Udy Factor?

I want to empower as many lives as possible with information; plus, we have very interesting topics which concern each person, one way or another. We look at the government and we always say the government is corrupt whereas we are actually looking at ourselves.

From the housewife who collects money for foodstuff and ends up buying aso-ebi to the middleman who takes bribes for favours, corruption is in us all and I hope that, through this medium, we can empower people to know their rights so as to avert getting cheated.

You sound like an activist, do you plan to venture into politics at any point in time?

Oh absolutely! I plan to vie for a senatorial position in the nearest future.

Under what party?

In time, you will know. (laughs)

Obong Victor Attah - On National Ethos By - Remmy Diagbare

F

rom the Uyo Airport, you begin to see the impact of Obong Victor Attah’s eight years as Governor of Akwa Ibom. Driving out of the airport, you cannot miss the imposing hangar, built for the purpose of maintenance and repairs of aircrafts in Nigeria.

All over the capital, the evidence of Obong’s legacies stare one in the face. The Le Meridien Hotel, the International Golf Course, the power plant, sea port, Uyo Airport and the ICT Park were part of a connective plan to industrialise the state.

Akwa Ibom is transformed alright but is the state the dream Eldorado he had in mind?

In this maiden Editor’s Interview, Obong Attah, who says he is ‘a professional in politics’ speaks on troubling issues with Nigeria and his lifestyle now. Enjoy.

Nigeria just turned 55. How would you say we have fared?

I am not going to talk about the potentials so much as the promise that there was. Nigeria was a promising country even under Nigerians. It may sound like I am blaming the military but, yes, I am blaming the military; because the coup intervention was too premature. How would you rate Nigeria in the last 100 days?

The last 100 days have been difficult for people in government. It’s difficult to know where to begin because there is so much to be corrected. Personally, I don’t believe in this 100 days matter; we did not elect anybody to govern us for only 100 days. I believe it takes longer than that to firm up what you want to do.

This is the first time we have somebody who came out to say ‘I want to be President’ and he was elected.

So, people will think he should have his plans and hit the ground running. But ‘running’ in which direction? He has to consolidate so that he will carry everyone along. And I don’t think that is wrong. If for nothing else, he has brought in the fear of committing crime; and that big crime is corruption.

Today, people are afraid to do what is not right. For me, that is a great step forward.

You were a two-time governor of Akwa Ibom State.

What would you say are the legacies you are most proud of?

I am not going to talk of my legacies in terms of projects, though they were many. What I did was, I moved Akwa Ibom from being a village to a place of note in Nigeria. In most instances, whenever there is national dialogue, it would not be concluded unless Akwa Ibom’s opinion was sought.

And, the projects are there for anyone to see, if they want to be honest. The thing about my projects was that, they had an integral theme binding them together.

People thought they were elitist but they were not. I give you an example. I built an airport. Then, when people come, they have to stay somewhere. That gave birth to the Le Meridien Hotel.

There is no where you want to run an airport properly and develop industries, ICT, without power, so there was the power plant. There was also the ICT Park which, unfortunately, my successor abandoned.

I knew that AK was so small, so compact and so dense in population that what we needed to do was to go industrial and ICT. These influenced the ICT Park, the power plant - which was commissioned - with 191 megawatts.

I also started the University of Technology. That university was supposed to train people to meet the development needs of the state. I set up a unique structure such that the university would not be unionized.

Having studied the system of salary structure in places like Botswana and some small islands in the West Indies, I agreed with the NLC, headed by Oshiomhole at the time, to pay same as is done in these

countries. They would have been so well paid that nobody would want to go on strike. Unfortunately, the blue print was not followed. It was turned into a conventional university.

Then, there is the Deep Sea Port at Ibaka which was also discarded. Also, I built a maintenance hangar capable of maintaining, repairing, and overhauling any aircraft at Uyo Airport but it stands there abandoned.

Beyond all the physical things I mentioned and roads, I am most proud of the change in psyche of the people.

They felt like they were citizens of the country and not inferior citizens.

On retirement, did you have a mega retirement package?

When I left office, I retired with 1.3 million naira for six of us. This was shared between myself, my P.A., a driver, two security men and cook. That was what I was enjoying for seven years and nine months. In the last three months of Akpabio being governor, I got one mega package.

And medical?

I am entitled to medical. I have been lucky because all I do is go for yearly executive medical check-ups which costs about N120,000. But when my wife was sick and lost her two kidneys, she had to go through dialysis.

That was expensive.

Can this be sustained?

To be quiet frank with you, I do not think so. How can any government sustain that when they cannot pay salaries?

When you left office, how did you get back to normalcy?

I qualified as an architect in 1964. I got my first post-graduate diploma in 1965 and a Masters degree in 1966. I have worked in various places; in the West Indies, in New York. rom the Uyo Airport, you begin to see the impact of Obong Victor Attah’s eight years as Governor of Akwa Ibom. Driving out of the airport, you cannot miss the imposing hangar, built for the purpose of maintenance and repairs of aircrafts in Nigeria.

All over the capital, the evidence of Obong’s legacies stare one in the face. The Le Meridien Hotel, the International Golf Course, the power plant, sea port, Uyo Airport and the ICT Park were part of a connective plan to industrialise the state.

Akwa Ibom is transformed alright but is the state the dream Eldorado he had in mind?

In this maiden Editor’s Interview, Obong Attah, who says he is ‘a professional in politics’ speaks on troubling issues with Nigeria and his lifestyle now. Enjoy.

Nigeria just turned 55. How would you say we have fared?

I am not going to talk about the potentials so much as the promise that there was. Nigeria was a promising country even under Nigerians. It may sound like I am blaming the military but, yes, I am blaming the military; because the coup intervention was too premature. We didn’t allow democracy to really struggle and establish itself before we did what we did and we have not recovered.

Life has taught me that you have to open yourself up and be ready to learn new things every day

•Attah was enmeshed in the profession. So, I am a thorough professional. My profession has treated me very well. I wasn’t a poor man when I came into government. I could travel with my family; my wife and two children on first class wherever I go.

When I left (office), I went back to my profession.

What I find very unfortunate is the attitude of Nigerians.

Having been a governor, I don’t know what they expect I should be doing. Even as I speak, I have tons of text messages of people asking for money for wedding, hospital bill... Where do they expect the money to come from?

Then, there are those - when I go and apply for jobs - who would not look at you; even when you can do the job better than the foreigners they give jobs (to). Then, they will rub it in by saying, ‘Obong, are you still doing this thing?’ And, I say ‘What thing? This is my profession’.

So, because I have been a governor, I should have stolen so much money that I wouldn’t need to lift a finger to work? I say to them, former President Jimmy Carter went back to his groundnut plantation. This is the only unfortunate thing Any political ambition?

I was given a piece of Nigeria called Akwa Ibom to govern and I transformed it in a phenomenal way. I felt I had the ability and the vision to do that to all of Nigeria.

My only other ambition was possibly to become president. And, I tried in 2007. If Obasanjo had allowed the contest to go without interference, I stood a very good chance. But, when that was scuttled, that was the end of it.

I am not a political jobber. I am a professional in politics. I studied Development Planning. That was why I was able to transform my state as I did. I could have helped Nigeria in a similar way. All the conferences that I have attended, 1994 -1995, 2014 – the contributions I have made showed that I do have ideas that could have helped this country to be a better place than it is now.

What do you miss most?

What I miss most is the same thing that made Buhari (to) cry, which people criticized. When you see so many things going wrong and nobody is listening to you, it’s frustrating; that honestly you want to cry.

That is the only thing I miss; not holding the reins so I can correct some of the unfortunate things happening - the total incompetence, insensitivity and lack of understanding on the part of leadership. Not that I miss the convoys, occupying government house and the perks of office. Certainly not.

Any regrets while in office?

I can’t really think of anything except what Obasanjo did to me. I wish, from beginning he had paid the 13% (derivation). I would have had a little bit of money to do what I feel should have been done with the money. But he kept it and gave everything to my successor.

Also, the misinformation about revolution on education, which I started, before my successor took it up and made education compulsory. The first thing I did when I came in was to pay examination fees for all SS3 students. Beyond paying the fees -because I didn’t have so much money, I introduced free education up to JSS3.

And, for those who had missed out on school, I started adult education and skills training. But Akpabio came in and made it compulsory for all students.

Is it true that when (you were) in office, you were surrounded with sycophants who fanned your ears with lies?

There is, no doubt, that people will tell you all kinds of lies but you won’t buy any of it if you have a clear programme.

Is leadership in Nigeria a burden?

Yes. We have not had leadership that has given us a lot of purpose, devoid of selfishness. We have had some purpose but that purpose was driven by selfish interest.

The worst aspect is that leadership did not develop the capability to insist on certain things. What I said earlier about national ethos has not been there.

There are certain policies that are national in character but some people will get into office and find that ‘they do not benefit my people’ and will refuse to implement them. Sometimes, those that are tasked with the responsibility of formulating these things will fight if they feel the policies do not benefit them. Worse still, some will collect money and pass it even when they do not believe in it.

The Houses of Assembly have to sit up and help

Three years ago, your wife of many years died. What changed for you when you lost her?

Life cannot, possibly, be the same. We were married for over 47 years by the time she passed. That is a long time to have a constant companion that was such a steadying force and a good counsellor in one’s life.

Thank God, I have two children who are very close to me. Currently, I live in the same house with my daughter and her children in Abuja so that has helped.

How does one deal with pain?

We have to remember that there is no suffering that compares with what Christ suffered, including being crucified. When you know that these things happen to test us, you will just learn to strengthen your faith in God and carry on. He is the only real anchor so don’t put your faith in anything other than God. What lesson has life taught you?

Life has taught me that you have to open yourself up and be ready to learn new things every day because, you don’t know what is going to hit you tomorrow. You just have to be ready to take the good with the bad.

How do you relax?

Intellectual exercise is part of my relaxation. I write. I think a lot. I used to watch movies but I rarely look at television these days. I swim a lot. I don’t play any other sports, not even golf. You will think I can play before setting up the golf course at Le Meridien Hotel. I also enjoy working in my garden and in my farm.

But what would be real relaxation for me, right now, is my profession. I am hoping, before I sign out, that somebody would give me opportunity to design a truly iconic building that can show that Nigerian architects are as good as any foreigner. I am longing for such opportunity.

It’s so relaxing when you are thinking through a design. I really feel good when I am busily involved in my profession.

What kind of music do you like?

I listen to classical jazz and classical music. I also enjoy our ‘old’ high life. I feel bad that the West Indians have kept their calypso and we have thrown away ours.

What books do you read?

I do read some religious books and also enjoy phI do read some religious books and also enjoy philosophical ones. I like books that help me to think. There was a time I was into existentialism. I read books by Kierkgaard, Hiedegger, Jean Paul Sartre and others. I learnt quite a lot from those authors, particularly Franz Kafka. But nowadays, I am careful because I say to myself ‘What am I going to do with this knowledge at my age?’

What is happiness for you?

Peace of mind. Being able to do the things I want to do when I want to do them. That’s what I enjoy about this semi-retirement. I have not retired from my profession but semi-retired from politics.

What is your philosophy?

A minute ago, you said I didn’t look 77. It’s the grace of God and peace of mind. Whatsoever you do in this world, give yourself peace of mind. Don’t bear grudges.

What is your typical day like?

I wake up - if I don’t have an early appointment - stay in bed till late; then, have breakfast. I go to my office but I have very little to do so I read newspapers, cut out interesting stories and file them away. I go home at about 3.30p.m., have lunch, and have siesta for an hour.

Afterwards, I may have meetings or receive visitors till I am ready to go to bed.

Sometimes, I gather my grandchildren - before they go to bed - and we pray the Rosary. Other times, if I don’t feel like going to bed I might watch television. I, particularly, like watching ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. I also like movies that offer insights.

One movie I love so much, which teaches about life is “The Magnificent 7”. People see it as just a western but you find the gamut of all the intrigues of life in it. I think everyone should go and watch “The Magnificent 7”.

Hello my dear readers, peanut butter has always been the popular sandwich spread, but recently almond butter has emerged as the healthier alternative to use in your diet. What is almond butter? It’s just almonds, blended in a food processor. Add a little honey and sea salt for taste and you have a spoonful of heaven, that’s also really good for you!

In my opinion, the greatest reason to love almond butter is the way it makes your taste buds feel! You can make it as creamy or crunchy as you like, but regardless of texture, it is absolutely delicious. Brush it on carrot or apple slices, spread it on whole-wheat toast, or just pop a spoonful into your mouth.

Among nuts, almonds are the most nutritionally dense. This means that for every calorie you consume, you get more vitamins and minerals than from any other nut. Move over, peanut butter! One tablespoon of almond butter contains as much protein as you get from the same quantity of meat. It is also an excellent source of fiber, which helps digestion and nourishes tissues. Here are some other benefits to almond butter over peanut butter:

Good for the Heart: The number one health benefit of almond butter is that it is good for the heart. It is rich in monounsaturated fats, which are the type of fats that reduce levels of cholesterol and decrease the risk of heart ailments. We have to remember that there is no suffering that compares with what Christ suffered, including being crucified. When you know that these things happen to test us, you will just learn to strengthen your faith in God and carry on. He is the only real anchor so don’t put your faith in anything other than God. What lesson has life taught you?

Life has taught me that you have to open yourself up and be ready to learn new things every day because, you don’t know what is going to hit you tomorrow. You just have to be ready to take the good with the bad.

How do you relax?

Intellectual exercise is part of my relaxation. I write. I think a lot. I used to watch movies but I rarely look at television these days. I swim a lot. I don’t play any other sports, not even golf. You will think I can play before setting up the golf course at Le Meridien Hotel. I also enjoy working in my garden and in my farm.

But what would be real relaxation for me, right now, is my profession. I am hoping, before I sign out, that somebody would give me opportunity to design a truly iconic building that can show that Nigerian architects are as good as any foreigner. I am longing for such opportunity.

It’s so relaxing when you are thinking through a design. I really feel good when I am busily involved in my profession.

What kind of music do you like?

I listen to classical jazz and classical music. I also enjoy our ‘old’ high life. I feel bad that the West Indians have kept their calypso and we have thrown away ours.

What books do you read?

I do read some religious books and also enjoy phI do read some religious books and also enjoy philosophical ones. I like books that help me to think. There was a time I was into existentialism. I read books by Kierkgaard, Hiedegger, Jean Paul Sartre and others. I learnt quite a lot from those authors, particularly Franz Kafka. But nowadays, I am careful because I say to myself ‘What am I going to do with this knowledge at my age?’

What is happiness for you?

Peace of mind. Being able to do the things I want to do when I want to do them. That’s what I enjoy about this semi-retirement. I have not retired from my profession but semi-retired from politics.

What is your philosophy?

A minute ago, you said I didn’t look 77. It’s the grace of God and peace of mind. Whatsoever you do in this world, give yourself peace of mind. Don’t bear grudges.

What is your typical day like?

I wake up - if I don’t have an early appointment - stay in bed till late; then, have breakfast. I go to my office but I have very little to do so I read newspapers, cut out interesting stories and file them away. I go home at about 3.30p.m., have lunch, and have siesta for an hour.

Afterwards, I may have meetings or receive visitors till I am ready to go to bed.

Sometimes, I gather my grandchildren - before they go to bed - and we pray the Rosary. Other times, if I don’t feel like going to bed I might watch television. I, particularly, like watching ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. I also like movies that offer insights.

One movie I love so much, which teaches about life is “The Magnificent 7”. People see it as just a western but you find the gamut of all the intrigues of life in it. I think everyone should go and watch “The Magnificent 7”.

Hello my dear readers, peanut butter has always been the popular sandwich spread, but recently almond butter has emerged as the healthier alternative to use in your diet. What is almond butter? It’s just almonds, blended in a food processor. Add a little honey and sea salt for taste and you have a spoonful of heaven, that’s also really good for you!

In my opinion, the greatest reason to love almond butter is the way it makes your taste buds feel! You can make it as creamy or crunchy as you like, but regardless of texture, it is absolutely delicious. Brush it on carrot or apple slices, spread it on whole-wheat toast, or just pop a spoonful into your mouth.

Among nuts, almonds are the most nutritionally dense. This means that for every calorie you consume, you get more vitamins and minerals than from any other nut. Move over, peanut butter! One tablespoon of almond butter contains as much protein as you get from the same quantity of meat. It is also an excellent source of fiber, which helps digestion and nourishes tissues. Here are some other benefits to almond butter over peanut butter:

Good for the Heart: The number one health benefit of almond butter is that it is good for the heart. It is rich in monounsaturated fats, which are the type of fats that reduce levels of cholesterol and decrease the risk of heart ailments. An equivalent serving of peanut butter contains just 26 milligrams. High Protein Delicacies Fish is a magnificent source of protein, aside from it being proteinous, it is packed full of amino acids, folic acid, vitamins and omega-3 fatty acids. These essential nutrients, boost the immune system tremendously. Fish is not only healthy, it is also delicious and filling, so take a break from meat and try out these fish recipes .

Deep Fried Fish With Chili Sauce Ingredients • 300-400g whole Croaker fish, gutted and scaled vegetable oil For the Sauce Vegetable oil or butter 5 cloves garlic, diced 1 yellow onion, diced 5 big red chilies, diced 2 tablespoons fish sauce 2 tablespoon light soy sauce 1 handful basil leaves 1 handful coriander Method: Rinse the fish and dry well. Slit the fish in a horizontal pattern, line by line, cutting down to the rib bones. Make two other slits along the back of the fish, from head to tail on either side of the rear fin.

These cuts will increase the rate at which it cooks and make it crispy. Slowly heat the deep frying oil in a large saucepan to around 175 degrees C. If you do not have a thermometer, then, dip the head of the fish into the oil; if it sizzles, it is ready, if it does not sizzle then wait a few minutes then try again. When the oil is hot enough, slip the fish into the oil and fry for several minutes until it is crispy.

Gently take the fish out of the oil and let it drain on paper towels.

Sauce: Fry the garlic, onion and chilies with a small amount of oil or butter.

When the ingredients are lightly browned, add the fish sauce and soy sauce. Turn off the heat. Quickly mix in the basil and coriander.

Place the fish on a large platter and pour the sauce over the fish.

Serve with steamed noodles

Baked Tilapia With Avocado Sauce

Ingredients • Chili sauce • 1/4 cup salsa • 1 tablespoon lime juice • 4 tilapia fillets (or other whitefish) Chips • 1 small avocado - peeled, pitted and cut into large chunks • 1/4 cup sour cream • Ketchup • 1 tablespoon lime juice • 3 tablespoons milk • Salt and pepper to taste Method: Preheat the oven to 190 degrees C. Grease a baking tray slightly.

Combine the salsa with one tablespoon of lime juice in a blender and blend until smooth; brush the mixture over both sides of each tilapia fillet. Arrange the fillets on the prepared baking pan. Bake the fillets 15 minutes; turn and lightly spray with cooking spray. Continue to bake until golden brown, another 10 to 15 minutes. While the fish bakes, place the avocado, sour cream and 1 tablespoon lime juice in a blender and blend until smooth. Stir in the milk 1 tablespoon at a time until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Splotch the sauce over the baked fillets and serve with French fries and ketchup on the side.

Tecno Telecom Limited, a China-based mobile phone manufacturer has launched its latest Android mobile device, Tecno Phantom 5.

Tecno Phantom 5 is a premium smart phone fully optimised for work and leisure. The new gadget boats of top of the line features such as 3GB RAM, fingerprint touch ID and full metal body casing.

Speaking at the event, the General Manager, Tecno group, Chidi Okonkwo said; “Tecno Mobile is one of Africa’s leading OEM companies and we are a customer centric information technology and communications company with strong focus in Africa. We believe mobile end users in Africa also deserve the same quality of mobile experience like cutting edge technology across the world. Africans deserve smart phones made for Africa and so, with the release of our long anticipated next phantom smartphone, Tecno mobile will give end users and the entire mobile value chain, something to talk about for a long time.”

Fabulous recently released beauty brands, that’s what! Former Miss Nigeria Uk, Dabota announced two weeks ago, the arrival of her beauty brand, Dabota Cosmetics and released beauty campaign pictures featuring her in various lip colours and using different makeup techniques.

The products available from the range include, liquid foundations, face primers, lip glosses, makeup brushes and a few other necessities. Celebrity stylist and fashion curator, Veronica Odeka also launched her nail polish line –Vane Nail Polish. The super stylist describes the product as a premium luxury nail lacquer and boasts of non-toxic ingredients that enhance healthy nail growth in a perfectly packaged 15ML bottle.

The summer is still in full swing and there are plenty of parties to be at so don’t say you weren’t told. Knowing their love for all things beauty, I don’t expect anything less than top notch quality from them both.

She recently got engaged to her sweetheart, Jide Obanikoro and first son of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro of Lagos. Her ring is a stunning 12.5 carat diamond cluster set in a platinum band. I found myself asking this question after an evening spent with a close girlfriend. Bill Cosby was her childhood hero and everyone’s dad on TV. I used to joke around with my dad about how much he looked like Dr Huxtable and maybe hoping against hope that Denise would also end up being a sister of mine?

Imagine the shock when the allegations of drugging and sexual abuse started to seep out, drip after drip, fingers pointed at one of the most famous faces ever to star in a sitcom. It’s been disappointing to say the least and all I’ve asked myself is why isn’t he saying anything? How can 46 women have almost the same tale to tell about one person? Senator Florence Ita Giwa was recently given the African Woman of Worth Award in the United States.

Her work and service to humanity through her pet project, Foundation for the Children of Bakassi, was acknowledged in Houston Texas, as she was handed a plaque as an ‘African Woman of Worth Award’ by the African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO).

The body recognizes the achievements of women across the continent, and annually honours exemplary leaders who have made a difference in their community in their various fields.

Ita-Giwa was not only honoured, but was also a Special Guest Speaker at the 7th edition of the conference. She spoke to cheers from the large gathering of notable women in the world on the topic: ‘African Women- Transcending the Globe, Breaking Barriers’.

The roll call at the conference includes, Ambassador Geoffrey Tenelaibe, Martin Luther King’s sister, Naomi Barbra King, Hon. Elisha Attai, the founder of the organization, H.E Mrs. OlufunshoAmosun, Professor UduakArchibong and Mrs. Alanyingi Sylva.

Others are Senator BintaGarba, Senator Donzella James, Ambassador Geoffrey Tenelaibe and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Dr. Z. Bagudu and Chili Jacobs, among others.
