gency in the North East zone kept the country on the edge. What began in Borno as attacks on police and civilians, claiming hundreds of lives, has turned to a routine of arsons, bombings, killings, prison breaks,

and other security breaches in the zone. Gombe, Maiduguri,

Potiskum, Yola, Yobe have been in the news for those reasons. The incidents have

spread to Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, and Niger states, joining the perennial killings in Plateau State. Hardly a day passed in the last four years without one such incident. Continues on page 18
