INtroduction The Vandebilt Catholic Food Service program was introduced in the 2022-2023 school year. To roll out this new program, all new kitchen equipment was installed, staff was hired and trained and a menu was created to ensure that the students and faculty are provided quality meals at affordable prices throughout each school year.

Throughout the research and planning phases of this project there were several key ideas that emerged: - Most importantly - students, parents, and faculty all supported a change in food services.

- Parents expressed a strong desire to keep our pricing as affordable as possible.

- Parents and students expressed a desire for a variety of food options, including healthy offerings.

We believe that our new program will accomplish all these ideas and much more. In this brochure, parents and students will be able to learn about the menu, online account set-up through PaySchools and the future plans for the Richard “Dickie” Barker Student Union.

PLEASE NOTE: Lunch account payments may also be paid by check (payable to Vandebilt Catholic) or cash through the VCHS Brothers Hall.

(No payments of any kind will be accepted at the registers in the student union.)

School Meal Modification Forms for those with food allergies or other dietary needs are available under the Cafeteria Information tab at vandebiltcatholic.org. These should be printed, signed by a doctor, and submitted to the VCHS Brothers Hall, where they will be uploaded to the student’s online lunch account.

REduced Lunch Applications Requirements:

• Must currently receive Tuition Assistance from Vandebilt Catholic.

• Must have all necessary financial documents loaded into FACTS. - Applications without proof of income will NOT be processed.

• Must meet recommended Income Eligibility Guidelines.

What does Reduced Lunch Cover?

• Students eligible for Reduced Lunch at Vandebilt Catholic will receive the cost of lunch up to $2.25 each day.

How to Apply?

• Online applications for Reduced Lunch are available under the Menu tab of the PaySchools site (once your PaySchools Account is set up.)

FUTURE PLANS

As part of the 2021 Terrier Blueprint, the redesign renderings by Duplantis Design Group for the Vandebilt Catholic cafeteria includes more flexible seating options, multiple serving stations, and space to use for gatherings and events. The space will have a student union atmosphere with a menu that provides students with a variety of options, including healthy choices and a-la-cart items and snacks.

In July 2022, Vandebilt Catholic High School announced a charitable contribution to the renovations and improvements of the cafeteria in the amount of $500,000 from the Richard “Dickie” Barker Family. With this generous donation and the blessings of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, the school will be able to begin the process of converting the facility to a more collegiate environment for our students and faculty. Upon completion, the facility will be renamed the Richard “Dickie” Barker Student Union, in honor of the patriarch of the Barker family here in Houma.
