YOU'RE READING THE FINAL PRINT EDITION OF V.I.A.

When I launched VancouverIsAwesome com in 2008, I didn't imagine that 12 years later we'd be printing a community newspaper to complement our online publication

But that's exactly what happened in 2020 when the pandemic hit, our sister publication the Vancouver Courier stopped publishing, and we inherited their print run at the press that our company owns on Grandview Highway.

Fast forward a little over three years and it's time to say goodbye to print for us We knew we'd be here for a good time, not a long time, and as the way people get their news continues to evolve it likely doesn't come as a surprise to you that it doesn't make much business sense to print a newspaper anymore.

The good news for everyone - us and you - is that our strength and our main focus has always been, and will continue to be, online. Until the wheels fall off. Our website aspires to be "Vancouver's Homepage," like the highly successful sister publication of ours, Castanet, is for Kelowna With millions of readers visiting every month, we're well on our way

Accompanying our website are our popular social media accounts - our @viawesome Instagram account brings you much of the news you'll see on our website, but with more videos and dazzling images. Our @bcisawesome TikTok brings you little known facts about B C , our

@forkingawesomevia TikTok shows you everywhere you need to eat in the city. I can't list them all here but we have a number of other social media accounts that keep you connected to your city

Tying all of these together are our daily and weekly newsletters which are put together by the same editorial team that brings you all of the stories you read every day, and who manage our social media accounts. Our team is strong, and I am so proud of where they've brought us Nobody will lose their job as we cease printing, but this may feel like a loss to some readers. To them I would say that I hope you'll join us on VancouverIsAwesome com where we publish more than a hundred stories every single day, as opposed to ten or fifteen a week that we were able to squeeze into this paper

Heck, maybe they'll even make us the homepage on their web browsers... if they haven't already. With deep gratitude, I hope to see you all online,
