In the context of today's reality, this paper explores the conditions and mechanisms of the establishment of modern urban context. One of the topics to be discussed is whether and to what extent the particular conditions of the environment (climate, river, topography, green spaces) in which a society is born and developped, affect its characteristics, as well as all kinds of relationships that appear in it.In an attempt to clarify these questions, we firstly analyse the critical issues that contemporary cities are currently facing,as well as a brief outline of how this study is aiming to contribute, in identifying the appropriate planning methods for building noble cities in our time. Therefore, under what conditions can historical spaces be included in the modern city so that they simultaneously address the widest possible part of society and interact with the rest of the urban functions? How does the visitor enter, orient himself and identify with the place? How does this approach translate to the landscape?
