Dr. Overtstreet-Hogle and staff help children focus on returning to school. By Christopher Davis

As fall comes into focus, families are preparing to send kids back to school. For children who wear glasses, this means it is time to endure the annual update to their prescription and select new frames – an often stressful and disappointing experience. However, there is one place in Claremore that will bring a new outlook to such trying eye appointments. Advanced Vision Center and Eyewear Boutique is likely to have children (and parents) looking forward to getting new glasses for the rest of their lives.

Offering the best selection, technology and care at affordable rates, Dr. Overtstreet-Hogle and her staff pride themselves on setting a new standard for pediatric optometry. Madison Todd under the new sign at The District on Main.

Sixteen-year-old Madison Todd is a remarkable young lady who is learning on a daily basis the many facets of running a successful boutique. Since her mother, Susan Todd, and her mom’s friend, Cari Bohannan, opened The District on Main in November of 2012, Madison has worked side by side with the two ladies, helping to build a successful business as well as build selfesteem amongst clientele by assisting women in finding their own personal styles. The District on Main is a boutique specializing in clothing and accessories for women of all ages. The store carries several popular lines including Brighton, Kendra Scott, Fossil, Lucky’s Jeans, and Southern Marsh. When asked to define Madison’s

position at the store, Susan and Cari answered, “She is our marketing manager, buyer, and model!” Susan added that their trust in Madison is so great that when she is needed, she actually runs the store. Madison has been an enthusiastic pupil both when it comes to running a business and keeping up-todate on the fashion and clothing industry. She maintains The District’s website and social media, making clients aware of the latest fashions and trends, often giving advice that is quite wise for one so young. With the school year and a changing season approaching, wardrobe changes are imminent, so Madison discusses how to (continued on page 24)

Sometimes, when the pressures of life mount up, you might feel as if you are “carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders,” as the old saying goes. But in reality, the weight of your personal world is carried not on your shoulders, but on your feet. Your feet provide your foundation when you are standing still and propel you into motion. Even with this truth, however, feet tend to be the “unsung heroes” of the human body – so it is no surprise that Tabitha Felts and the folks at Felts Shoes in Claremore frequently hear about all too common problems involving these undervalued appendages. “Almost daily, someone comes into the store complaining of heal pain, and
