Challenges for the new school year By Staff Writer
From all reports it appears that the first week of school went very well. I very much appreciate the effort of staff members and parent volunteers for their assistance i n m a k i n g i t a n San Ramon Valley excellent start to the Superintendent of Schools, Steven Enoch school year. Now, with September upon us, we enter into the routine of the year, which is a good thing. We are still sorting out enrollment numbers but it appears that we have grown more than 900 students from this time last year. With the weak economy this continuing high rate of growth is somewhat surprising, but given the performance of our schools it is certainly understandable

Fish said, “Also, both NASA and the Navy are huge bureaucracies and I didn’t want any “spin” added to the already rich insights provided by the participants. The reader gets information that comes directly from the guys who made it happen.” In late July, the Hornet Museum commemorated the 40th anniversary of its special section................7-10 recovery of Apollo 11. Bob Fish, a long time Danville resident and trustee for the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda, believes that young people gain a much better appreciation of history when they can touch it, rather than just read about it in text books. “Important historical events are not just dates in time; they are the result of critical decisions made by humans who are faced with certain situations,” said Fish. “My primary goal at the Hornet is to ensure that our young citizens understand the thought process, teamwork, and preparation that went into performing the flawless recoveries of the epic Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 space flights.” Earlier this year, Fish published Hornet Plus Three, the first book that details the splashdown and recovery of the historic Apollo 11 lunar landing
