round 15

Hard to believe we are heading into the last few weeks of the season, despite this all teams are looking to finish with a bang!

Valley Prem Mens willl be playing Tigers in a key fixture for both teams, as they vie for points heading into the play off rounds.

Valley Prem Womens and Reds will also be taking on the Tigers Women’s team. Valley will be looking to put on a better performance from their previous encounter with the Tigers Prem , whilst the Reds will be hoping for a repeat victory.

Mavericks will be traveling up north to take on seasonal rivals Tin Shui Wai, whilst our Griffins will have a fixture against City RFC in Tin Shui Wai.

round 14 summary

The half century was brought up by captain Bella Milo and her troops last weekend in a dominant display of rugby against SCAA Causeway Bay. The Valley Womens side were well in control of the game from the onset with an early intercept try from Zoe Smith setting the tone of the game. Defensive pressure was tested by Causeway Bay as the looked to edge over Valley‘s try line at times, however big tackles coming in from Karen So and Anna Marsland did not make the job easy. The inception of Chloe Chan and Cherly So in the team has lifted the players and the team will be looking positively ahead at the next few weeks.

A game lost by Valley rather than won by the opposition is an accurate description when summarising the Mens defeat at the hands of Sandy Bay last weekend. With repeated infringements from Sandy Bay early in the first half, we were rewarded with a early penalty try, to counter the penalty kicks slotted by Sandy Bay. This followed up with great inter linking passages of play between our forward pack led by Rob Lennox and our back line with the Max Woodward and Luke Treharne weaving lines The forwards were ever so dominant up front which led to excellent team tries, however a lapse of defensive concentration in the last play of the game, allowed Sandy Bay to carve around our back line and score the decisive try in the corner

club day spotlight

We have thoroughly enjoyed our Club Days this season where we celebrate all the good that is Red and Black about our Club. Club Days gives us the opportunity to showcase all our rugby teams with back to back games.

18th February will be our last Club Day of the season at Kings Park before we move back to our home pitch at Happy Valley in July.

There will be some key fixtures for the Club next week, particularly with our Premiership sides as both our Womens and Men’s team aiming to finish 2nd or 3rd place in the league tables, which would put us in favourable positioning leading into the Grand Championship Finals.

Lets head down and cheer our players on!
