One of the most wonderful things about the arts is that there are so many ways to take in these cultural experiences. From museums to concerts, from live performances to learning how to create your own masterpieces, you can see it all up close in Montco’s vibrant and thriving arts scene.
It’s so easy to soak it all up with the help of an Arts Montco Pass. This free, mobilefriendly pass allows you to take a self-guided tour of more than 30 arts experiences throughout the region, and as you check in at each location, you can earn points and win prizes.
Here are some unmissable cultural highlights that you can visit using your Arts Montco Pass.
VISUAL ARTS
One of the best ways to immerse yourself in the arts is to grab a front row seat for expressions of creativity such as the Anno Artem Art Gallery in Pottstown. With a focus on avant-garde art produced by local artists which are showcased throughout the space, you’ll leave feeling inspired.
The Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art at Collegeville’s Ursinus College is another opportunity to view great art, particularly if you’re fond of contemporary pieces, along with 19th- and 20th-century American and European art. Take your time as you peruse more than 8,000 works in the permanent collection, and witness art in the great outdoors through the museum’s 80 sculptures.
If you want to get your own creative juices flowing, look no further than North Wales’ North Penn Arts Alliance. Here, you and your family can take art classes geared toward all ages. Craft collages, work a paintbrush or make a sculpture of your very own.
PERFORMANCE ARTS
To see the arts come to life, a stage production definitely fits the bill, such as the ones presented by DCP Theatre in Telford. A community theater founded back in 1952, its productions are still going strong, with offerings that

For a live performance that’s (literally) pure magic, be sure to add Glenside’s House of Magic to your itinerary. It’s something that the whole family will delight in, spotlighting sleight-of-hand magic tricks, grand illusions and plenty of spectacles that require audience participation, all put on by pro magicians who will astonish and amaze.
Maybe you’d prefer to enjoy the lighter side of the arts instead. To get in some giggles, head to Vinnie Brand’s Stress Factory Comedy Club at Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia. They bring in acts from around the country that are sure to make you laugh and laugh.
MUSIC & FILM
If you feel that the arts are best experienced through sound, then a live musical performance is in order. You can relish such performances at Ardmore Music Hall, an independent music venue only three miles outside of Philadelphia that has hosted the best-of-the-best rock acts in the biz, from The Ramones to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Nowadays, you can groove to blue grass, rock, funk, hip-hop and more.
To see the arts light up the silver screen, make a stop at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, a nonprofit theater that screens a mix of independent films, documentaries, themed series and Oscar contenders, all within a 1926 beaux-arts cinema.
For family-friendly movies that are currently making the rounds, grab your tickets for a showing at The Grand Theater in East Greenville. Built in 1924, this fully restored theater features current attractions you can cross off your must-see movie list.

ere, history isn’t locked behind glass or tucked behind velvet ropes. In Montgomery County, visitors move through the physical spaces, lives and stories of the people who shaped our nation.
HISTORIC TRAPPE
Historic Trappe offers visitors a look at everyday life in 18th-century Pennsylvania German communities. At the Center for Pennsylvania German Studies, visitors encounter folk art in place and move through rooms filled with original furniture, textiles and paintings highlighting the craftsmanship of Pennsylvania German artisans.
At nearby Henry Muhlenberg House, fully furnished interiors are staged as if residents have just stepped away. Writing desks are strewn with half-finished correspondence and dining tables are set for meal times, offering a rare glimpse into the daily life of a blacksmith and his family in the mid-1700s.
POTTSGROVE MANOR
A Georgian stone manor set within the modern town of Pottstown, Pottsgrove Manor provides a striking contrast between the past and the present day. Built for ironmaster John Potts, the manor features exhibits illustrating the relationship between household life and industrial growth, and highlighting how the iron industry helped shape the town and region. Both a furnished historic home and a museum, the site blends lived-in spaces with interpretive exhibits that
tell the story of the Potts family and the indentured and enslaved people who lived and labored there.
SCHWENKFELDER LIBRARY & HERITAGE CENTER
Part museum and part active research library, the Schwenkfelder
Library & Heritage Center focuses on life in the 1700s in the Upper Perkiomen Valley. Here, discover the story of the Schwenkfelders, a Protestant group that immigrated to Pennsylvania seeking religious freedom. Through their experience, visitors explore the enduring American themes of tolerance, migration and the balance between cultural preservation

and assimilation. Physical objects anchor the story of the Schwenkfelders, with looms, cider presses and decorative arts on display. Preserved and interpreted by the community itself, the center represents a living commitment to sharing its own history.
PENNYPACKER MILLS
Pennypacker Mills gives visitors the chance to experience an entire country estate. Set within a large tract of preserved farmland, the sprawling site allows for exploration of the mansion itself, and of walking paths that meander through the grounds.
The Colonial Revival mansion, originally built in the early 1700s and expanded in the early 1900s, is fully furnished with the personal collection of Samuel W. Pennypacker, a former Pennsylvania governor. Inside, rooms are arranged as lived-in spaces, and objects reflect Pennypacker’s interests in Pennsylvania history, Native American history and the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Together, the house and grounds offer insight into early 20thcentury country estate life.
VALLEY FORGE NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK
Valley Forge National Historical Park is known for its expansive grounds, yet it is the curated exhibit spaces that provide context to those seeking to understand the full scale of this historic site. The Valley Forge Encampment Museum

collective struggle of Washington’s army during the winter of 1777–78 through murals, interactive elements and historic artifacts.
Additional exhibit spaces across the park deepen that understanding. Valley Forge: Traditional Land, Contemporary Vision uses photography to tell the story of the site, while How Do We Know? explores the evidence historians use to reconstruct the past. Additional exhibits highlight Washington’s leadership and Valley Forge’s ties to regional iron production.

Some of America’s finest architects and craftsmen left their mark on Montgomery County. Take in the brilliant works of these talented creators at some of the venues below, all ready to welcome visitors.
BRYN ATHYN HISTORIC DISTRICT
BRYN ATHYN
Three National Historic Landmarks grace the large, manicured grounds and gardens of this district located across the street from Bryn Athyn College. Visit Cairnwood Estate, Glencairn Museum and Bryn Athyn Cathedral for examples of a blend of Gothic, Romanesque and Arts and Crafts styles of architecture.
BRYN ATHYN HISTORIC DISTRICT
The buildings here were intentionally designed to be asymmetrical, imitating life and growth.
Bryn Athyn Cathedral and its 150-foot tower are the dramatic central figures of the complex. The cathedral features brightly colored handblown pot-metal glass created using medieval techniques in a specialized on-site studio, as well as intricate stonework made from local materials.
Cairnwood Estate is the only existing beaux-arts style private home in Pennsylvania. This Gilded Age mansion features a unique octagonal chapel tower, as well as a two-story Great Hall with a massive carved stone fireplace and barrel-vaulted ceiling.
Glencairn Museum is a castle-like structure with 10 floors, vaulted ceilings, a Great Hall with large, detailed, custom-made mosaics and sculptures and a tower with beautiful panoramic views from the top. Outside, stroll the cloister designed to mimic medieval monastic architecture. Opening hours vary; check website to plan a visit.
WASHINGTON MEMORIAL CHAPEL
KING OF PRUSSIA
This Valley Forge chapel, built to honor George Washington, is an example of American Gothic Revival architecture. Don’t miss the National Patriots Bell Tower, which houses a 58-bell Carillon and the Justice Bell, intricate stained glass windows depicting American history and detailed limestone/oak carvings with wroughtiron hardware. Open daily, except for some holidays.
LAUREL HILL CEMETERY
BALA CYNWYD
Recognized as a National Historic Landmark, Laurel Hill Cemetery was the first architecturally designed cemetery in the country and expanded to the west in 1869, creating West Laurel Hill Cemetery. The space features a mix of Gothic Revival, Egyptian Revival and Classical Revival styles. Architectural highlights not to miss include the Berwind family’s octagonal mausoleum, the Gothic Revival bell tower, monuments and other elaborate mausoleums— some with beautiful stained glass. The scenic Victorianera grounds located along the river are perfect for wandering, jogging or biking. Free, open every day.
BETH SHOLOM SYNAGOGUE
ELKINS PARK
Completed in 1959, this is the only synagogue designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The building is a National Historic Landmark, one of Wright’s final completed works and considered one of the most significant of his career. Not to miss: the hexagonal, translucent glass roof, which illuminates at night; the cupped-hands design; an interior floor sloping toward the east, which creates a mountain of light representing Mount Sinai; and a 40-foot tall concrete monolith representing the stone tablets of Moses. It includes elements of Assyrian, Japanese and Mayan Revival designs. Public tours available Sundays, with group tours by request on weekdays.

Celebrating the soul of local jazz
Montgomery County’s beloved Montco Jazz Fest is nearly a week of events celebrating culture, community and, of course, music. The festival, happening in September 2026, brings the stage to life with a thrilling mix of homegrown talent; uniting seasoned professionals who have shaped the industry for years with dynamic, student-led groups just beginning to make their mark. It’s a vibrant celebration of artistry at every level. This year, programming
will be tied to the milestone 100th birthdays of jazz legends Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
Each day brings dozens of events throughout the area, some with free food and free admission. Savor classic jazz and blues at intimate restaurant and bar performances, refine your skills at artist-led workshops, explore jazz history through engaging seminars, and dance the night away at electrifying live concerts across the county.
