We come together as one community to celebrate 65 years of God’s faithfulness through Valley Christian Schools.
Let us rejoice at what God has done over the past 40 years through Dr. Daugherty, whose dreams of how a Christian school could impact the world have shaped the opportunities our students thrive in today. With his God-given vision and the faithful support of families, VCS moved from a season of constant change as a nomadic school to a place of strength and stability, now firmly established on two campuses with growing, innovative programs and opportunities. As Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us, when we trust in the Lord and acknowledge Him, He clearly directs our path.
Tonight is not only a celebration of what has been, but an invitation into what lies ahead. The opportunities before our students are extraordinary, and the need for Christ-centered education in the Bay Area is greater than ever. Each of us plays a role in this mission. Together, we are building a community that not only believes in this work but actively champions it.
As this evening unfolds, we ask you to join us in celebrating God’s goodness, faithfulness, and favor. We invite you into the work God is doing here in the Bay Area to transform the world through the lives of students. May our relationships grow broader and deeper and be a catalyst for what God will bring in the coming years.

Valley Christian Schools awards the Crystal of Light Award to deserving recipients who generously give their time, talents, and treasure in big ways. Since 1994, the Crystal of Light Award recipients have shared a wealth of wisdom, countless hours of talented labor, and millions of dollars generously donated to further our mission. The Youth With Promise (YWP) Tuition Assistance program empowers spiritually and academically promising youth from under-resourced circumstances to attend Valley Christian Schools—students whose families would not otherwise have the financial means to afford a Christ-centered education.
At the heart of the program are the words of Jesus: “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because God’s kingdom belongs to people who are like these children” (Matthew 19:14, ERV). This program not only transforms the lives of the children who are welcomed into the Valley Christian Schools community, but also blesses the hearts of those who make this possible through their generosity— fulfilling Jesus’ words: “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35, ERV).
YWP is an invitation to invest in VCS’ mission and future. At VCS, we believe education has the power to shape a life academically, spiritually, and eternally. That opportunity should not be limited by a family’s financial circumstances.
Each year, more than 400 students walk through our doors because this community chooses to make a way for them. For many families, YWP makes the difference in whether a student can attend VCS.
