RE-CYCLE CONCEPT
During demolition and renovation work, recyclable materials are specifically separated and returned to the recycling cycle. In addition, materials are used in new construction that enable single-type separation and subsequent recycling. In this way, the life cycle concept is consistently integrated into the planning. The visible use of wood in the interior also underlines the claim to make sustainable, durable and recyclable building materials architecturally tangible.
ENERGY CONCEPT
The sustainable energy concept for the new Offenbach City Hall is based on an integrative approach that combines ecological responsibility with technical efficiency.
Large windows and strategically placed skylights allow for extensive natural lighting of the interior spaces, while architecturally integrated shading elements minimise heat gain in summer, thereby reducing the need for cooling. An extensive photovoltaic system on the roofs generates a significant portion of the required electricity directly on site. Heating is provided by energy-efficient underfloor heating in combination with a heat pump that draws its energy from a geothermal system. This is a low-emission solution that also contributes to cooling in the summer months. The system is supplemented by the collection and use of rainwater, which is used for toilet flushing and for watering the outdoor facilities.
This combination of passive and active measures creates a sustainable energy concept that significantly reduces the building's carbon footprint while ensuring maximum comfort for users.
