BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE PROGRAM IN RADIOLOGIC AND IMAGING SCIENCES Valencia’s B.S. degree program builds on your associate degree so that you can complete the upper-division requirements for a bachelor’s in as little as two years.

Picture Your Future The bachelor’s degree in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences is designed for imaging professionals looking to expand their knowledge and skills in radiology management/administration, teaching, and in an advanced clinical modality.

Valencia’s program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). To provide flexibility for working professionals, all courses, except for the practicum, are completed online.

JOB OUTLOOK A completed bachelor’s degree opens many doors for advancement in your professional career. In an advanced position within the radiologic and imaging sciences, you will manage high-tech equipment and oversee technologists and the procedures they perform.

Expected salary range with a bachelor’s: $45,000 – $65,000

CHOOSE YOUR BACHELOR’S CONCENTRATION Computed Tomography (CT) This patient-focused concentration enables you to develop skills to become a CT technologist. You will gain an understanding of the physical principles and instrumentation involved in CT, as well as quality management. This includes procedure protocols, evaluating equipment operation, ensuring accurate diagnosis and safe patient care.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) This patient-focused concentration enables you to develop skills to become an MRI technologist. You will gain an understanding of the basic concepts of magnetic resonance, including magnet types, the generation of magnetic resonance signal and magnet safety. You will also learn procedures covering anatomy, pathology and equipment applications for the various regions of the human body.

Quality Management (QM) This concentration will broaden your knowledge of quality issues and enhance leadership potential. You will learn to develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure accurate diagnosis and safe patient care, as well as quality control procedures to evaluate equipment operation and monitor procedure protocols. This concentration also focuses on the administrative structures and management of the radiology department.

ADVANCED TECHNICAL CERTIFICATES If you are not ready to start a bachelor’s program, but would still like to build on your associate degree, then an Advanced Technical Certificate may be for you. These certificates can help you to expand your knowledge and skills within an advanced modality.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS This bachelor’s degree program builds on the completion of an associate degree.

•M ust have completed an associate degree in one of the following fields: - Diagnostic Medical Sonography

- Radiation Therapy

- Nuclear Medicine Technology

- Radiography

If your degree is in another field, you must undergo a formal evaluation.

•Y our associate degree must have 68 credit hours, 18 of which must be in general education.

•M ust provide proof of professional certification or equivalent in your respective imaging discipline.

HOW TO APPLY Must submit two applications: 1. O nline bachelor’s application at: valenciacollege.edu/admissions-records ($50 application fee) 2. R adiologic and Imaging Sciences Bachelor’s Program application, available through Valencia’s Health Sciences Advising department ($15 application fee) Applications are accepted for enrollment for fall, spring and summer terms.

All courses are completed online, with the exception of the practicum.

Complete your associate degree in one of four eligible fields

Submit the online Valencia College application for the bachelor’s program, as well as all college transcripts.

Once you’ve been accepted to Valencia College, submit the Health Science B.S. program application, along with your professional certification, and contact the program advisor.

(including all prerequisites).

Once you’ve been accepted to the B.S. degree, complete the online bachelor’s orientation.

Enroll in classes. Must complete: • 18 additional general education credits • 27 credits in upper-division core courses • 1 5 credits in an upper-division concentration area (includes practicum at local health care provider)

Graduate with your B.S. degree.

Total credit hours for the program = 128 (42 credit hours of upper-division coursework)
