Valencia College Program Guide for the Advanced Technical Certificate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) ADMISSION CRITERIA and CHECKLIST FOR 2011-12 Check http://valenciacollege.edu/west/health/admissionupdates.cfm for any admission updates. The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program at Valencia is a limited access program which means that more students want to be in the program than Valencia can serve. The program begins in Fall Term. There is no application deadline and students who meet all admission requirements are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis until the class is filled; then students are placed on the waiting list for the next program start date. Applicants who decline entry for their identified admission term must reapply to the program. The admission requirements that must be satisfied prior to submitting an application to the MRI Program are: _______1.
Submit a completed Valencia Application for Admission using the Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Technical Certificate application via Valencia’s Web site at www.valenciacollege.edu/admissions, pay the non-refundable $50 application fee, and be in Active Student Status. Applicants must have a physical address in the State of Florida.

Submit documentation of current certification in one of the following modalities. Your certification must be current at time of application and admission. • Radiography(ARRT) • Radiation Therapy (ARRT) • Nuclear Medicine Technology (ARRT) or (NMTCB) • Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARRT or ARDMS)

Send to Valencia’s Admissions Office an official transcript that indicates you have earned a minimum of an Associate Degree in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiation Therapy or Diagnostic Medical Sonography from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university.

Submit verification of graduation with the minimum of an Associate Degree in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiation Therapy or Diagnostic Medical Sonography within the year prior to program application OR submit documentation of employment within the year prior to program application in the area of certification for one of the two modalities (If submitting documentation of employment, it must be on official letterhead.) OR complete RTE 3116 Advanced Patient Care prior to taking RTE 4941L Practicum.

Receive the Valencia Admissions notification that you have met the entrance requirement.

Complete the Bachelor Student Orientation (online) if you have not previously attended Valencia as a degree-seeking student.

After completing Numbers 1 – 7, submit a completed Health Sciences MRI Program application, pay the $15 non-refundable Health Sciences program application fee and submit the required documentation. If eligible for admission, you will be placed on the acceptance/waiting list for the next available space. The MRI Program application can be found at www.valenciacollege.edu/health.
