Project Type: Healthcare
Location: Evelina Children Hospital , London
Issue: The aim of this project is to find out new possibilities to face autistic behaviour that affects children, by applying the most effective therapies for ASD spectrum in different colorful environment, better described as ‘playscapes’. Here the child can go to live an interactive and fun experience but at the same time to receiving the clinic treatment.
Design Intent: Structuring this research project by focusing on the study of psychological properties of colors and lights, I create a multisensory play scape for child’s social interaction and therapy areas to face the autistic behaviour. Inspired from Sensory rooms, that contribute to the creation of an isolated environment where children affected from ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and Asperger syndrome could feel safe, I developed a social environment where children could interact with each other. Concentrating on the creation of five ‘safe areas’ where a child would experience therapies with colors, including: touch therapy, drawing therapy, music therapy, perfume therapy and suspending therapy. During the research process, the Evelina children’s hospital London seems the most appropriate site to realize the project.

Capsule Focus / Green Visual Room Green visual room for touch therapy and light games. Passing in the middle of the rope forest the children will be submerged and wrapped in space, feeling the strings on their skin. Small guests can experience different activities within the space, walk through the dense forest or play with the balls hanging at the end of the hanging ropes. Sketch of walking inside the space, through filaments and ropes hanging from the ceiling. The experience this room gives is a mix of amazement, curiosity and fun for the child and the parent. They can go to the forest together or alone.

This room is totally devoted to relaxation, kids can take refuge and feel comfortable in this space that divides them from the outside world by practicing suspension therapy while swinging in the swings. Egg chairs are versatile and can be used in a variety of ways. Their characteristic wrap-around shape makes children feel safe and secure. Guests can relax and swim in them. To put the children at ease, the chairs are able to support the weight of two people in order to allow to live this calming experience with parents.

This area is dedicated to music therapy, and softness, where children can walk, plunge, sit and lying inside this soft space. The full environment is covered with soft and elastic material to security reason and satisfy children needs. They can climb, dive and jump on the big soft puofs. The windows of this area will be reshaped by an elastic layer that will allow the children to push and fold their hands inside. Parents and children are welcome in this completely soft and secure playcape.

Capsule Focus / Orange Sensory Room Orange sensory room for visual and dark therapy. Visual room will be provided by transparent rods that cut and define the space with a play of light and reflections, this prototype will work as a dark sensory room for eye stimulation. Conceptual sketch idea of walking Inside this area where the guest can improve eyes reactivity thanks to sensory stimulations and light games inside the tubes. This area will follow the same concept philosophy of the sensory rooms, as dark room where the guest can walk. Walking and jumping between the columns and finding the right way. This will acts as a brain training and phisical activity.

Capsule Focus / Pink Perfumed Room Pink perfumed room for scent and touch therapy. This environment is designed to stimulate the sense of smell. A lawn of soft shapes filled by dried flowers and spices will strew delicate scent all around the room while childrens will walk through it. Children can do different activities inside this perfumed area, thanks to the rubbery effect of the soft columns, kids can squeeze the lawn to feel intense flower essence and also deep into it without getting hurt. Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Issue: Design a new concept to live. The brief was about realizing an housing solution for a modern student, in a very delimited space. The project concept develops around a full set of modular and movable furnishings in eco materials DT Compact Project commissioned by Del Tongo Kitchen, involves the designing of three macro areas composed by bathroom zone , day zone and night zone, in a limited space of 125 square meters. One of the most challenging aspect during the development of this project was the design of each individual product and his technical details. All the design phases have been followed from concept to completion, from the analysis of each detail to the esecution of the whole structure. The core value of Naked System is sharing and conviviality among new generation’s students.

Eat Zone / Day Eat Zone is designed to host sharing meals. The kitchen is composed by seven modules, three of them are movable as they own rools of the base. Depending on the occasion, from kitchen top can be extracted a table, the fridge module and the sharing module with a cooking plate incorporated.

Location: Victoria Park Sydney, Australia
Issue: Creating a co housing and co working space in a social housing neighborhood to promote social sustainability between future communities in Victoria Park in Sydney, Australia. The architectural project interventions combine this intention with conservation of the existing landscape spatial qualities and atmosphere and the tone set by the proportions, plans and strong sustainability and recycling character. The goal of this project is to create an environment that completely meets the needs of an eco-community by providing car sharing, rainwater harvesting, cultivation of zero-km vegetable gardens with local greens and fruits. All respecting the surrounding environment and promoting sustainable life in the community.

05 White Shadow Project Type: Temporary Installation
Location: Milan, Italy
Client: Expo Milano 2015
Issue: Outdoor Lighting Installation designed for Expo Milano 2015. This installation is entirely made out of recycled wood and mobile micro spotlights sensitive to movements to create different light games while people are strolling on the walking surface. This temporary installation was commisioned by Expo Milano 2015 to be located in Piazza PIO XI, right in front of Biblioteca Ambrosiana of Milan. The concept behind this outdoor installation is to allow passers-by to experience a new means of communication through the use of light, which based on climate change, the intensity of light during the day and the movements of the people in front of the spotlights, it shows the installation under a different color lights and therefore seems to be always evolving. The project acquires different functionalities during the day according to people’s preferences.
