Omni Homestead Resort Waterproofing & Facade Restoration
overview
SOLUTION
The Omni Homestead Resort, located in Hot Springs, Virginia, has a rich history that spans over two and a half centuries. Throughout the 19th century, the property underwent various expansions under various owners.
Ev-Air-Tight crews utilized multiple rigging types for access, including reach craft climbers, swing stages, boom lifts, scaffolding, and a 200-ton crane with a 200’ reach.
In 1993 the resort was acquired by Omni Hotels & Resorts. Over the years, additional repairs and upgrades were completed. Yet, the relentless effects of weathering led to structural issues and water leaks. In 2023, the ownership planned for a comprehensive renovation of the entire resort to include exterior facade restoration. Ev-Air-Tight was selected to perform large-scale waterproofing and facade restoration services. But first, the team had to develop a plan to overcome sloping grounds and set-back roofs to safely access various facade areas.
Our trained historic restoration technicians performed a variety of repairs including masonry sealant coating; installation of through-wall flashing; re-coating of exterior masonry, metal, and wood; removal and replacement of deteriorated brick and joint sealants; decorative cornice repair; stucco repair and re-coating; roof and structural steel repairs; and masonry tuckpointing. The project was a coordinated team effort requiring meticulous planning and strategic decision-making. Ev-Air-Tight played an integral role in the successful completion, providing longevity of The Homestead.
