MAPLE RESOLVE 2023

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) has just concluded its most important annual training exercise, MAPLE RESOLVE 2023. Between May 8 and 22, on the training areas of Detachment Wainwright 3rd Canadian Division Support Base Edmonton, soldiers of the 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (5 CMBG) participated in several exercises and scenarios in various capacities, particularly in combat operations. In total, nearly 2,200 members of the Canadian Army were deployed, the majority of whom came from the soldiers of 5 CMBG. In addition, members of the Royal Canadian Air Force were on site, with CH-146 Griffon helicopters and CH-147F Chinook helicopters. Note that 300 American soldiers (including Marines), 150 British and 2 Australian soldiers were also deployed.

MAPLE RESOLVE 2023 took place in a decisive action training environment (an immersive environment), during which CAF, along with NATO allies, simulated confrontations against a common enemy. It should be noted that prior to MAPLE RESOLVE, Exercise REFLEXE RAPIDE, a live-fire exercise, served as preparatory training.
