SALE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The terms of this sale are governed by the laws of the state of Texas. Any amendments or updates, as posted on v8ranch.com or dvauction.com, supersede the contents of this catalog. Upon the conclusion of the auction, a separate sales agreement, including any additional terms, will be sent to the buyer for signature.

VIDEO PRESENTATION

Each lot is featured in a video, available for viewing on dvauction.com, providing a comprehensive visual of what's on offer. The video also includes a commentary on each heifer to offer additional insights into their characteristics and potential.

PAYMENT AND TRANSFER

The accepted forms of payment include cash, check, or bank wire. Payment is required upon receipt and must be settled before any animals are transferred from V8 Ranch. Upon receipt of full payment, registration papers will be transferred to the buyer. Failure to complete payment within 14 days of purchase can result in forfeiture of the animal, which may then be sold to another buyer upon written or electronic notice.

FEEDING TERMS

The heifers are currently housed in our show barn, and fitting charges of $18/day begin immediately. If the new owner chooses to transfer their heifer into our development program, they will receive complimentary feed until August 11, 2023. From August 12, 2023, onward, a charge of $8/head/day will apply. Our charges are necessary to cover the cost of providing top-tier care and nutrition for your cattle. Any veterinary expenses incurred will be the owner's responsibility. All accounts will be billed monthly, and feed charges must be settled in full when the cattle are picked up.

HEIFER VIEWING

Currently, the heifers are being halter-broken at our show barn and are available for in-person inspection by appointment. This opportunity allows buyers to evaluate the animals directly and understand their temperament and potential.

HEALTH

The cattle are eligible for an approved state health certificate for interstate shipment within the USA. Buyers are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the health requirements for their respective states. The animals have been meticulously cared for and have been vaccinated under the guidance of our veterinarian. They are presumed healthy at the time of sale. However, no guarantees are provided for health requirements for exports outside the USA.

LIABILITY AND INSURANCE

The buyer assumes immediate ownership and all associated risks, including injury, disease, or death, at the conclusion of the online auction. Insurance coverage is mandatory for any animal housed at the show barn. This coverage is available through Shelia Jensen of Jensen Livestock Agency, who can be reached at 785-374-4372.

FEMALE GUARANTEE

Females sold in the sale come with a veterinary certification of health and soundness, which is available upon request. They are guaranteed to be natural breeders for one natural calf, though this is not an all-encompassing insurance policy. Any circumstances of injury, death, poor management, or nutritional issues are not covered. The breeding guarantee is void if the heifer is not in a suitable body condition score to breed, if she is flushed or IVF'd before having a natural calf, or if she is exhibited at livestock shows. Buyers must inform us of any breeding issues by August 1, 2025. In case of any such issues, the buyer is obligated to return the animal to V8. We will then have a 6-month period to validate the breeding capability of the animal. In case the female is found to be a non-breeder, V8 will either select a suitable replacement or offer a sale credit for future purchases at V8. Cash refunds are not provided.

EMBRYO FLUSH

V8 Ranch retains the right, though may not exercise this right, to perform one embryo flush at the buyer's convenience, yielding a minimum of six grade one transferrable embryos. All costs associated with the embryo flush will be covered by V8 Ranch. All embryos obtained from V8 Ranch's flush will remain the sole property of V8 Ranch and are not for sale. Furthermore, V8 Ranch retains ownership of all DNA cell lines of animals sold in this sale.

HALF-INTEREST FEMALES

Lots offering half-interest females are subject to a specific sales agreement that details the partnership between the new buyer and V8 Ranch. Potential buyers interested in purchasing a half-interest female are encouraged to contact us before the sale. We will provide a copy of the partnership agreement for your review before any bidding or purchasing takes place. Open communication is paramount to us, and we strive for a successful and mutually beneficial partnership.

“A great polled 33/8 heifer calf was born” was the news that sparked excitement on our family text thread last fall. Since then, our anticipation has only grown as we've watched her develop into the epitome of the V8 type: long-bodied, feminine, upheaded, with good pigmentation and performance.

Although we suspect she's scurred, no horns have emerged, assuring her polled genetics. As a daughter of the black polled +JME Mr Suva Crat 225 (P) — whose popularity skyrocketed after siring the $105,250 top seller from Made for Magic V — she adds a new chapter to the storied legacy of our legendary Rose cow family.

Her dam, +Miss V8 33/8, is believed by many to be the best cow on the ranch. Adored worldwide for her coveted red tinge, 33/8 is a V8 Superblend™, blending the Rose and +Claydesta 807U5 cow families. Her progeny, including the National Champion and Register of Renown sire +Mr. V8 322/8, reflect her excellence, making her influence a cornerstone in prestigious Brahman herds worldwide. +Miss V8 33/8 has generated $781,875 from progeny sales, and we've retained 2 sons as V8 herd bulls and 7 daughters as replacement females.

This heifer, boasting the highest weaning weight in our fall heifer calf crop, is a picture of peak performance. Her EPDs mirror this, placing her in the top 4% for weaning weight and top 5% for yearling weight. In total, she ranks in the top 15% or better for six separate traits. With her genetic versatility offering opportunities to breed horned or polled, red or grey, and the added punch of cow power from one of the best cows in V8 Ranch history, she's equipped to fulfill any Brahman ambitions. We're offering one-half interest. She'll be half yours, half ours, but her potential is endless.

This heifer’s earning and breeding potential is off the charts.

I personally don’t think we’ve ever sold a heifer with so much upside potential and value as this female. She offers so much for all the different segments of Brahmans.

The first top heifer from our reigning Bull of the Year consistently takes a spotlight in our Made for Magic sales. As we prepped for our Bull of the Year announcement last spring, we hinted at show-stopping progeny from Mr. V8 891/8 “Pathfinder,” who was on the show road collecting championships.

Our strategy with young sires is to breed them to our best cows, giving a clear image of their potential. We matched Pathfinder with our donor +Miss V8 286/8, a remarkable 380/6 daughter that consistently traded wins with her paternal sister, the National Champion +Miss V8 293/8. Now, both are Register of Renown donor females. +Miss V8 286/8’s dam is +Miss V8 947/6, who is also the dam of two Reserve International Champions, and Mr. V8 910/8 “Axel.” The bottom side of her pedigree places Miss V8 752/9 in the +Marri Holly cow family — a line known for their depth, spring of rib, and volume.

An elite roll-call of Hungerford legends grace her five-generation pedigree: Sloan, Liberty, 380, Woodman, Elmo, Avery, 700/3, Datapack, Dakota, Powerstroke, Superstroke, Marri. Yet, Miss V8 752/9 is more than just impressive lineage. Even if her pedigree wasn’t noteworthy, her phenotype certainly is.

She isn’t for you if you prefer smaller, flatter Brahman cattle. But, if you like them pretty, stout, eye-catching, and sound, let’s go! She embodies the saying, ‘Greatness is not in where we stand, but in what direction we are moving.’ If she’s a sign of the quality that Pathfinder is set to produce, you’ll be patting yourself on the back for getting in on the ground floor with this investment.

Witness a landmark moment in our Made for Magic offerings — our first polled heifer, and she’s more than special: she’s black and polled. Two years ago, we set out on a mission to breed top-tier black Brahmans. Today, the Brahman breed is taking note, and these black cattle have become some of the most sought-after prospects in the world.

Introducing Miss V8 762/9 (P): a smooth-polled, black female with a lot of depth of body, an arrow-straight back and topline, outstanding breed character and hump placement, and a gentle disposition to boot. Her EPDs boast nine traits in the breed’s top 15% or better, and her sire and dam are both in the Register of Renown.

Miss V8 762/9’s sire, +JME Mr Suva Crat 225 (P), has stamped his mark on our breeding program with dark pigmented, eye-appealing, and exceptionally gentle offspring. Her dam is +JDH Lady Manso 563, a big boned, stout female with a lot of depth of body that was purchased from our cousin Lana Jo at J.D. Hudgins. Her first flush at V8 unveiled a superstar –Miss V8 532/9 – who commanded $90,250 in MFM V, purchased by GKB Cattle. In her debut at the Sugar Classic, she claimed the Grand Champion title under judge Ryan Rash. At the East Texas State Fair, she continued her Grand Champion streak, this time under PJ Budler. These victories underscore that it wasn’t just our team at V8 who raised her, or GKB who recognized her potential — it was also two of the industry’s most respected judges who affirmed her caliber. True excellence, it seems, doesn’t go unnoticed.

Miss V8 785/9 is the natural calf from one of our show heifers, Miss V8 291/9, who is the only female we have in our herd from the original +Miss V8 410/6 matriarch and +Mr. V8 146/8 “Sloan.” The single flush of this mating was 410’s final contribution to the ranch, her parting gift of excellence. Miss V8 291/9 is a massive, deep bodied, big boned female that has a bright future ahead of her as a donor cowshe’s just getting started.

This dark pigmented heifer stands out as beefy, stout, and deep-bodied, yet elegantly balanced and stylish from the side. She excels in the top 15% or better across eight different EPD’s, including the growth-oriented traits of weaning and yearling weight.

The sire to 785/9 is JDH Adeben Manso 127/8 ET, an impressive bull we purchased from Mark Forgason at J.D. Hudgins. Mark tipped us off, saying, “You’re going to like this one; his dam is one of our best.” Drawn to the Massai bloodline, we were thrilled to discover that 127/8’s sire was a bull that Jim made Champion at the Kickoff in 2019. We immediately put him with our V8 show heifers, and this heifer is proof of the quality we hoped to achieve.

A Louisiana girl, +Miss V8 410/6 was born at Watson Land and Cattle. Mr. Hilton Watson said, “I have some good Karu calves over here,” and he sent them our way to see if we thought they would be good enough to add to our partnership. 410 was near weaning age when she unloaded off the trailer. Jim recalls, “She was a knockout when we first saw her. Daddy (Sloan) looked at me and said: ‘I don’t think we have a better heifer here at V8 this year.’” +Miss V8 410/6 went on to become a highly decorated winner on our show string, and a family favorite. In 2020, at the age of 16, she passed peacefully from old age in the V8 front pasture.

While Miss V8 787/9 may be the youngest in the sale, she commands attention. She’s a daughter of the breed’s only 3-time International Champion, +Mr. V8 146/8 “Sloan,” and has her sire’s influence of being deep bodied, easy fleshing, and heavy muscled with a powerful hip design. Beyond this, she combines eye appeal, a clean underline, and that irresistible “it factor.” With impressive EPDs that land her in the top 15% or better for six traits and the top 2% for docility (we’ve had the pleasure to experience her gentle nature firsthand), she’s a package that perfectly illustrates why “Sloan” is our most utilized sire at the ranch. “Sloan” progeny are making a name for themselves - not only at V8 but globally. Young yet impactful, “Sloan” has sired a significant roster of high-sellers and show champions of both sexes. The anticipation for “Sloan” offspring was high, and they’ve certainly lived up to expectations. Now, as his daughters enter production, they’re proving their worth as excellent, good milking mothers with picture-perfect udders. A “Sloan” in your herd is truly a mark of distinction.

I first saw her dam JDH Lady Manso 106/1 across the fence in a pasture in Hungerford. She wasn’t for sale, but I was so convinced of her potential value to our program that I persuaded Lana Jo from J.D. Hudgins to part with her. We flushed her to 146, and her first daughter, Miss V8 498/9 (a full sister to this heifer) quickly established herself as a standout in our showstring, with consistent class wins and the title of Reserve Division Champion at the 2022 National Show. Miss V8 787/9 is further evidence that this mating is hitting it out of the park.

If you like your females with added power and dimension, this is one to consider. She’s a calf with the look of a cow – a heifer that’s got great potential to shine in the show ring and the pasture. I’m confident she’s got what it takes to make a fine front pasture cow.

THE POWER OF THE OUTCROSS

At V8 Ranch, we produce performing cattle, but that doesn’t mean we shy away from buying cattle that meet our standards. On the contrary! Our most famous cow family matriarchs, like Miss Priss and Claydesta 807U5, underscore the positive influence outside genetics bring to our program.

We’re continually searching for an ideal outcross female with the potential to be a foundation cow for the next great line of cattle. As such, we bring in females from a handful of outside ranches. Although the outcross donor

females (and their progeny) do not trace back to the core V8 cow families, don’t underestimate their importance; they are promising test pilots for future matriarch status.

As with our breeding choices, we use our highly trained eyes to select for phenotype, first and foremost. Then, we consider pedigree, performance records, and/or any unique traits such as color, disposition or being polled. When mated with V8’s strong, award-winning sires, we’re confident that these cows will also make magic.
