WELCOME As a lifelong rancher, nature has always been one of my greatest teachers, and fall is a season for letting go. Trees don’t hold on to their leaves just because they produced them or because they might need them next year; they follow a cycle of creating and letting go.
Recently, on our V8 Friends and Fans Facebook group, Joe Parker, grandson of V8’s founder, Howard Parker, wrote: “It was a sad day for our family when Howard made the gut-wrenching decision to sell V8 because his eyesight was failing. If he could no longer judge the cattle to make the best breeding decisions, it was in the best interest of his cattle…to pass them along to someone who could continue to excel and improve the breed. I have no doubt [my father] has looked down with pride and great admiration as Sloan, Jim, and their families…focus on cow families, guiding the V8 herd from one level of excellence to another.”
Letting some of our best heifers go in our Made for Magic sales never feels easy. But it does feel right. In this, our fourth Made For Magic sale, we’re offering the best we’ve got because, like Mr. Parker, we care deeply about doing what’s best for the Brahman breed. There’s the first daughter from our reigning USA National Champion, Mr. V8 322/8; daughters of the dams of our great herd bulls Guardian and Mr. V8 660/7; and a heifer whose dam is a full sister to Mr. V8 146/8 "Sloan." I invite you to come out to the ranch to see our spring-born heifers or call me with your questions. It’s my hope that you’ll be able to take our strongest genetics and make them your own, both at home and in the winner’s circle. Until then,

Ownership of the animal transfers at the time of sale and buyer bears the risk of injury, disease or death which may occur. Insurance is available through Jensen Livestock Agency at 785-374-4372.

PAYMENT AND TRANSFER Terms of the sale are cash, check, or bank wire due upon receipt, and before animals leave V8. Unpaid accounts are billed 18% APR beginning thirty (30) days following sale. Upon receipt of payment, V8 Ranch will transfer registration paper to the buyer. If full payment is not received within 14 (fourteen) days, then upon written or electronic notice to buyer, V8 Ranch shall retain ownership of animal with full property rights, including the ability to sell the animal to another buyer.
FEEDING TERMS Heifers will be provided free care in our heifer development program until December 1, 2021, after which feed is billed at $8/head/day. If desired, cattle may be sent to the show barn however feeding charges of $18/day begin immediately. V8 employs some of the best stockmen in the business and spares no expenses in the professional way we care for your cattle. These charges are not designed for us to make money, but to cover our costs. Any veterinary expense will be the owner’s obligation. All accounts will be billed monthly. Feed charges must be paid in full when the cattle are picked up.

Cattle are eligible for a state approved health certificate for interstate shipment in the USA. Buyers should make themselves aware of health requirements for their respective states. Animals have been provided the utmost care, nutrition, and vaccinations under the guidance of our veterinarian. Animals are assumed sound and healthy at sale time. No guarantee is made for health requirements for export outside of the USA.
FEMALE GUARANTEE All females selling in the sale will be accompanied by a veterinary certification of health and soundness prior to the sale. All females are guaranteed to be natural breeders for one natural calf. This however, is not a lifetime insurance policy. This guarantee does not include injury, death, management, or feed or nutrition issues. Breeding guarantee is voided if any of the following occur: injury, death, disease, natural disaster, gross negligence or misconduct, heifers not in suitable body condition score to breed, virgin heifers flushed or IVF’d prior to having a natural calf, or heifers exhibited at livestock shows. Buyers must notify us of any breeding concerns by January 1, 2024. Should a breeding concern arise, buyer is responsible to return the animal to V8. V8 will have 6 months to prove the animal to be a breeder. Should the female be a non-breeder, V8 has the option to select a suitable replacement if available, or issue a sale credit to be used in a future purchase at V8. No cash refunds are given. We make no further guarantees, including but not limited to ability of a female to compete in livestock shows, ability to be halterbroken, disposition, number of years in production, or number of embryos produced. V8 retains the right to one embryo flush on all heifers selling in this sale and retains ownership of all DNA cell lines.

We line breed to cow families and trace the kinship of our entire herd through female lines, respecting and honoring the contribution our dams make in creating superior Brahman cattle.
For us, these dams are like Brahman royalty – queens with noteworthy genetics and storied pedigree. There are never any “what ifs” with this mating. This cross has been one of the most predictable and dominating matings at V8 Ranch. We have produced 22 ET calves from this mating and kept nine daughters, all who are or will become donors for V8. And we’re still flushing the cow back the same way! This heifer’s dam, Miss V8 952/6, is a full sister to +Miss V8 805/6. The great +805/6 is the dam of Mr. V8 146/8 “Sloan” and the National Champion, Miss V8 293/8. Plus, her grand dam +827/4 raised an International Champion, Mr. V8 612/5. That’s a pretty impressive resume. One of two maternal half sisters selling in the sale, and you’ll have your work cut out for you choosing which one you prefer. This young lady has what some call the “it factor.” Sired by Mr. V8 146/8 “Sloan,” the only bull in the breed to be a three-time Houston champion, she is deep-ribbed and easy fleshing with lots of muscle, yet favors her mother with the elegance and eye appeal that V8 females are known for. One of our V8 Superblends, this heifer is from the +Miss V8 165/4 cow family blended with +Miss V8 805/6 through her sire, “Sloan.” Her dam, 829/6 blends with the Rose family, as her sire is a direct son of +Miss V8 495/5 “Rose.” Miss V8 443/9 has an incredible amount of natural thickness down her top and out of her hip, is heavy-boned, moderate in size, and very gentle. This striking +Mr. V8 191/7 daughter is the longest-bodied heifer in the sale and incredibly attractive from the profile. A great genetic breeding piece with so much promise in her future, she has been a standout since birth. Her two granddams, +Miss V8 464/6 (International and World Brahman Congress Champion) and +Miss V8 805/6 (dam of Mr. V8 146/8) are two of the all time great cows in our 77 year history, and that’s saying quite a bit. Much discussion was made within the family on if we should sell this heifer, who earned the nickname “La Princesa.” Her dam, Miss V8 610/8 is a full sister to Mr. V8 146/8 “Sloan,” our three-time Houston champion bull. 610/8 is one of the up and coming young donors in our herd and a big, impressive showstopper of a cow. A V8 Superblend™, Miss V8 449/9 is from the +Miss V8 805/6 cow family blended with the +Claydesta 807U5 through her sire +Mr. V8 458/7 +Mr. V8 191/7. He was an International Reserve Champion and sired Mr. V8 604/7, "Man of D: MISS V8 610/8 Steel," also an International Champion. He also sired Mr. V8 933/7 “Yeti.” From a performance +Miss V8 805/6 standpoint this heifer has seven EPD markers ranked in the top 15% or better for WW, YW, TM, CEM, Tenderness, CW, and REA. This heifer is just flat out good and you can see why in her picture. She has lots of muscle and a big top and hip with a very clean underline and beautiful refinement and femininity. It’s not easy to make one that balances all those qualities so well. She is deep sided, soft made, smooth shouldered, and impeccable in her structure. If you can’t tell, we like this heifer quite a bit. Miss V8 468/9 is a V8 Superblend™, blending the +Miss V8 4/5 family with +Miss V8 805/6. Taking it one step further, her dam 233/8 blends with the +Miss V8 410/6 cow family through Ocho Cinco, so genetically, 468/9 offers a rare combination of V8’s most elite cow families. How many of the greats of the breed go back to those females? +Mr. V8 458/7 S: MR. V8 146/8 The +Miss V8 4/5 cow family is well documented at V8. This family produced +Miss V8 552/5, a National +Miss V8 805/6 Champion, who is the dam of two important V8 bulls: +Mr. V8 960/5 (International Champion) and Mr. V8 736/5, who I sold to Valley Ranch and leased back to breed cows naturally at V8. Selling one-half interest. This great young February heifer has a jaw-dropping phenotype with all the bells and whistles. She is clean and attractive through her neck and shoulder, big bodied, and incredibly sound. Our first calf crop out of our 2020 National Champion, Mr. V8 322/8 arrived and did not disappoint. Miss V8 472/9 is exactly what we were hoping for when we bred 322 to our top donor cows: a big, powerful, level hip, flawless structure, plenty of eye appeal and style. On top of all of that, this heifer is, to put it simply, pretty. She has the highly desirable red pigment that is only gaining popularity, and should offer her new owner the opportunity to breed both red and gray. That red pigment comes from both sides, as her dam is the lovely dark pigmented Miss V8 829/6 and her sire, Mr. V8 322/8 is from the Rose cow family. +Mr. V8 380/6 S: MR. V8 322/8 Miss V8 472/9 hails from the +Miss V8 165/4 cow family. As mentioned alongside the Lot 2 heifer, this +Miss V8 33/8 family is rich in history at V8 for over three decades. Miss V8 481/9 is the youngest heifer in the sale and will have plenty of admirers. If you know cattle, you can see the future this heifer has. And if you know V8 pedigrees, you know just how special this one is. Another V8 Superblend™, she blends the Miss V8 539/6 cow family (who produced Dreamgirl, Vaquero, and Guardian) with the +Miss V8 805/6 family through Mr. V8 146/8 “Sloan.” The cross of Mr. V8 146/8 “Sloan” with daughters of +Mr. V8 380/6 is becoming one of our never-miss matings. This heifer is deep bodied, heavy boned, very functional and sound with a lot of mass and spring of rib. 146/8 rewrote International Show records being the only Champion to repeat three years in a row. As a breeding bull, he is prepotent in his ability to consistently produce high quality cattle.
