Ournewestinitiative,GrowingResilienceInTacoma(GRIT)20,isacollaborativeguaranteedbasic incomeprogramrunbyUWPC,inpartnershipwithDSHS,theCityofTacomaandPierceCountyIn April2024,GRITprovideda$500monthlystipendfor12monthsto175ALICEfamilies.Participants areworkingsinglehead-of-householdswithchildrenunder18.FromourpreviousGRITproject,we knowthatfamiliesusedthedollarstoreducedebt,payforbasicneeds,increasecredit,spendmore timewiththeirlovedones,andbettertheirmentalhealth
